The clock isn't suppose to start until it hits the players hands. If you check other angles you'll see it leaves his hands with plenty of time. They reviewed the play and it was good.

Do you really think it is possible to catch the ball on a hop step, turn, and shoot in only .8 secs? Its not even possible, the clock started late, that is why it looked like he got it off in time.

No, I don't care anymore really since it was so long ago, but it shouldn't have counted. Plus if you time it on your own with a stopwatch, you get about 1.3 seconds.

Hmm, if you didn't really care, then why did you post? Also there probably is some lag time between when the clock keeper sees it hit the players hands and then turns around, but it is well known that the minimum amount of time specified by NBA rules for a catch and shoot is 0.5 seconds, this was 0.8 seconds. Had Houston been taking the shot they would have been afforded the same amount of time.

Also I wouldn't feel so confident as Houston almost blew a 17 point lead @ home.

Blowing a 17 lead at home isn't too bad, its the playoffs, there will always be runs like that, as long we can hold them on, Rockets will win Game 4. I mean Portland only beat Houston by 4 points in Game 2, and it took BIG games from Roy and Aldridge to beat Houston. Granted Roy won't score 40 points again, Houston wins 4-2.

There will always be some lag time between the clock keeper and what is happening in the game. If anything you should be angry at the clock keeper, who I do believe is a Rockets' employee. Rarely will the NBA overturn a shot based on when the clock keeper started the clock, only if the shot was too late. If you see the earlier Yao play there was a lag time between when he caught the ball and when the clock started as well.

Whenever a foul is committed on a shot people, the clock stops at the time of the foul, not after the ball goes through the hoop.

ummm.. you need to learn the game.  clock stops once the foul OCCURS. not when the ball hits the rim. sometimes the ball doesn't even make to the rim when a player's fouled.

It was a 4th quarter to end game. The first three quarters were a mixture of good defense and bad shooting. Almost all game Roy and Yao were off while Aldridge carried the Blazers to a double digit lead. Then McGrady took over in the forth, game went to OT, and the last three shot completed it.

While I was watching I figured it was about to show the gap between a championship contender (Rockets) and an up and coming team (Portland) as the lead shrunk. Guess I was wrong.
