A lot of people are focused on jobs that they hate, trying to make it work - doing what they think is right for them. The message of the video is that each person is born with skills and natural interests, and that if they focus on what is truly interesting to themselves (follow your heart) then they will have a job that they truly love to do.
I want to get involved in the sport of boxing. Now I have never actually boxed in real life. However I love watching fights, I know just about every name in the buisness and I like to read news about the sport and its people. How would I go about doing that?
@anglekan join up at your local gym or rec center. you will feel dorky and unco when you first do it, but everyone does. its always hardest at first, when you aren't fit and just doing a normal training session makes you want to puke, but if you stick with it you will get over the hump then you'll be fitter, faster and happier for it. the longer you do it the easier it becomes, then one day you'll wonder how you ever did without it
Good advice but the title "Are you doing what you were made to do?" is misleading. What exactly is "made to do"? We're not born with labels or destined for anything. A Man can do anything he chooses. He simple puts his mind to it. It's called focus. Hence the video should be called "Are you doing what you are truly focused on?
Max Lucado has a book out about the subject Joel is talking about, a purpose-driven life; finding out what you are meant to do; what you are most passionate about.
Good advice! Things can seem overwhelming when there are so many options available--adsense, affiliate marketing, eCommerce, blogging, and article writing. Where do we start!? As Joel said, "One step at a time." We just need to choose one thing to being with, like blogging with adsense, and then break it down in to manageable pieces that we can take one day at a time. Set one goal for tomorrow, say between 10am and 11am you will set up your blog.
If that's all you have time for that day, come back tomorrow. Set aside an hour to make a post to your blog. Maybe you have 3-4 hours of extra time available each day. You don't have to spend all 4 hours doing the same task. You can use one hour to read Joel's book; another hour to write and article, and so on. By the end of the week you'll be amazed at how much you will have accomplished.
It's a matter of self-discipline, and right now I am not very self-disciplined. I mean to change that.
This is so inspiring.. Thank you for sharing this piece.

My biggest challenge of today, I'm writing my business plan, but I can't really move my pen toward what I want to write blogs or content about.
