I saw the movie in Spanish the first time and even so (dubbed), is fucking epic. It is hard for me to understand what he says in this part, becuase of his accent... Anyway, I'll try and my fav line here is:
The Pinocchio effect: ''It states that the square root of proboscis is equal to the sum of the sinuses, to the seven''
I totally agree that this film has aged really well. If anything, it's more relevant today than it was in 1973
But, does anyone else get the impression that they just ran out of ideas at the end? or maybe they ran out of money........
Either way, another great Woody Allen classic. Even if Diane Keaton couldn't act her way out of a paper bag. Let's face it, from that day to this, the woman gives the exact same performance in every film she appears in. I honestly don't get what people see in her
@Torahboy1 Clearly you haven't seen many Diane Keaton movies to say she gives the exact same performance. You're saying this performance was like Looking for Mr Goodbar? Annie Hall was like her performance in Reds or Marvin's Room? No muse had a better dynamic with him than she did and she could handle his dialogue like a pro as opposed to the ones he casts nowadays. She's briliant being effortless at the light comedy and digging deep for the dark drama.
Woody impress me with his clarinet playing. He should come to Louisiana and play with Pete Fountain and other jazz greats like the Dukes of Dixieland. He is right up there with them.
You have downloaded a masterpiece of Woody's.....if you ever find his EARLY skits on Candid Camera (YES Candid Camera), please post them? Thanks so much again!
@FireEmblemDemon Technically there's no such thing as a "capitalist government." Capitalism is an economic system, not political. The phrase "capitalist government" was misused in an episode of South Park to0.
Thanks so much for posting this - I first saw it on my new black and white portable tv in my bedroom when I was 11 years old and I could choose what I wanted to watch for the first time! My parents didn't like Woody Allen so I'd never heard of him 'til I saw this - it made me laugh just as much tonight as it did 32 years ago :D
"Drop-dead, 'vill ya drop-dead!" ----from my favorite portion of the movie--The Jewish Robot Tailors.
Thanks for posting this--waited too long to revisit this little gem from my past. Hard to believe its almost 40 years old. The future technology synthesized for this movie seems tame in its projection ie: a powerful computer being huge and using 3 inch magnetic tape to store data? Wow--we've come a long way.
Well, Monsieur Allen is for sure one of those persons one would always expect to say thinks like: Political solutions do not work! And together with his Muse Diane he is almost invincible; but today he does not chose so well and therefore his movies have lost much.

The comedy is too broad for my taste, but, for what it is, it's well done.

Wish they'd make a sequel!

@TheCoolProfessor Are you joking? What is ridiculous about it? The film is a mixture of satire and vaudeville.
If you don't get that, then you're a moron. If you want to see crappy and ridiculous films, then see Armageddon or the Scary Movie series.
