  • when i was in fifth grade my music teacher made us sing this song for parents day. looking back it's a cool and musically interesting song but i was thoroughly freaked out by it for many reasons. i think the teacher was trying to brainwash us at a very early age. yeah that's my story. anyway.

  • @redhedbedhed I like that story haha.

  • @Porojukaha Also, personally I watch both American and European movies, don't like McDonalds very much so don't bother with it, and my non-brand clothes were just made by little kids in Asia. Few of my favorite musicians are from America. If you have trouble looking beyond what happens to be thrown into your face, then that is a flaw in your constitution, you can not blame the world for that.

  • @Porojukaha Good job, you twisted my simple statement about my feelings regarding this song into a crack-pot theory. A country is a self-governing state meeting certain requirements to be considered a county. The one I'm in right now is not called the USA. Also, you know the alphabet Americans use? I'm pretty sure it's European. Have you ever counted to ten (or just used the number 0)? Ah, it means you're living in the middle east! Go find a forum with like-minded idiots and stay there, please.

  • I´ve never lived anywhere in America but this track specifically and the whole album in general remind me of being young, and feeling at home. Good stuff. I´m learning guitar now and I sort of suck, but I´m hoping to be able to play this song in not too long. Thanks for upload.

  • great music, very original

  • Could this be a reference to the practice of registering the dead to vote in Chicago?

  • @okelydokely2 Its about ghost towns and the cycle of civilizations

  • what does shaun white have to do with anything

  • dude youre a dick

  • Love this song dude! This is the song that got me into Sufjan

  • thanks for uploading this video dude.

  • WTF why did you continue the video for 4+ more minutes?!?!?. its not hard to end to video when the song ends!

  • Shaun White! Me too! Bahahahaha

  • i remember getting this CD when it first came out.....this song is still one of my favorites by him!!!!!!

  • Shaun White Sent me :D

  • haha same, man.

  • It tricked me!

I thought it was going to last the whole time, but it stopped at 5:16. Lame

  • shaun white

  • Because it's the internet and he can ;)

  • just picked up this album really love this song hadnt really heard of him till I got Dark Was the Night

  • The song that consummated my love of Sufjan.

  • Oh how he touches. The voice, the voice.

  • incredible

  • whats this got to do wit illinois

  • hmm maybe something to do with the album name dumbarse

  • @ben23speed I'm thinking that it might have to do with the fact that they are chanting I-L-L-I-N-O-I-S and all of the historical references.

  • @ben23speed you are mean

  • You're an idiot.

  • And the fact that they're singing 'I-L-L-I-N-O-I-S' and the names of places from Illinois...

  • @skoachibit oh you see it actually doesnt have anything to do with illinois it wasn't like recorded there or anything like that its just like "based" out of there for tax evasion reasons its like a technicality. ya know just like a po box and an empty office somewhre in illinois just to get out of some loop hole so like dont worry...illiinois is completely out of the picture brah

  • @bosoxsuk0616 I don't know where in the hell you got your information, but SS planned at one time to do an album based on all 50 states. He has deserted the plan after doing only two, Michigan and Illinois. Every song on this album, (Come on feel the) Illinois(e), is at least peripherally based on Illinois or an event that happened in the Land of Lincoln. To say it is some sort of tax evasion thing is something you made up out of something you pulled out of your ass.

  • @soonerfan61 nah bro you dunno what you're talking bout

  • @bosoxsuk0616 Yea, sounds about right.

  • Respond to this video... yea, the bosox do suck.

  • @skoachibit other than spelling Illinois several times as well as listing famous people from the state (Reagan, Grant, Logan) and towns (Kankakee, Evansville, Metropolis, etc) nothing. no part of this song relates to Illinois.

  • hey why didn't you just cut the video off at minute 5:12 lol you just left the text on screen and no sound WTF?!

  • @ben23speed That was mean.... Also, Why did u do that?

  • @ben23speed thanks for being god's gift to man and uploading a video for us !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • hey sorry just trying to help!

    nice video btw!

  • even the title of this song is awesome

  • the bass line to this is so funky, its not like sufjan at all but like him in every as well. so good
