frankly, among sinatra lovers (and i do love him madly), this a mediocre hard swing version of this superb song, a commercial vegas hgig, and what's more, the voice is beginninbg to fade away ... sinatra nerver was good at jazz, or swing ... what he was good at, was mellowing his voice on dorsey's trombone and making it sound like an effortless breathe from god himself ...
What I really appreciate about Sinatra is his non fear of taking chances: whereas this was a slow moving ballad on his "Only the Lonely" collection it becomes really up-tempo here. The sign of a great master!
I wish video of this performance would come out of someones closet somewhere. You can't tell me there wasn't a camera there that night. Thanks for posting the audio. Just wishing in one hand and hoping in the other.
The person who had the idea of Sinatra and Basie performing together - is one of the greatest ideas of all time. Both rose to the occasion, performing to perfection. I think Quincy was musical director?

Thanks, 56 Packman. Byers was a little known name but a dynamic big band arranger/leader.
Incidentally, one of my short stories spins around Sinatra's "Summer Wind." If you're curious contact me at: drbob456x@gmail.com.

Basie Orch. and a Quincy Jones chart back up Ol' Blue Eyes. Doesn't get any better.

@drbob456x This is a Billy Byers chart. Q was conducting the band.

Sinatra's best rendition of this classic. And oh yes, the Basie group moves this tune with Frank at the helm.
