emo is just a word, all of it doesn't matter, if the music is good listen to it. and allow people to choose as they see. if my chemical romance makes them feel like tguk makes you feel who are you to tell them it's not emo/not good.

I'm 33 years old, and i played in bands like these 15 years ago.. Get up kids is/was a fantastic band, and are NOT to be compared to today's "emo" (or what the fuck they call it nowadays) at all.. They are all old dudes/family fathers "pavement" look-alikes, and they are just enjoying life!

Uhm... google it dude, they're an emo band, it's not an insult, it's just the truth. A lot of genre's happened in a certain time, that doesn't make new bands of the same genre not of said genre. Genre's change and evolve just like bands do. You can call it 2nd wave or something if you want but it's still emo.
@oop007 totally agree man EMO just isnt EMO anymore. You tell people you like EMO they look at you strangely then you feel like you have to justify yourself, whats thats shit about?
@hardcorecordock Those people haven't heard of The Get Up Kids and rather just hear of all those shitty pop-punk/pop-rock bands that people label emo now a days. Can you really blame them aside from their own ignorance? I mean most people just believe whatever it is the media tells them to believe, then whatever their friends say is practically written in stone. People regurgitate the same BS they hear from friends without giving it so much as a second thought.
@oop007 wasnt expecting such a deep response dude but you are so right, I mean when did the definition of emo change? - I mean if all this chemical romance, afi etc bullshit is classed as emo what the hell would they class TGUK as now? - no doubt pass it off as indie bullshit, its bollocks!
@hardcorecordock It's cause they just believe those bands are emo because to them emo is almost like an insult, so bands they don't like or that they deem whiners are now considered emo to them. The definition hasn't changed, just about only 5% of the people who use the word actually know the meaning :)
It's like if in 10 years whenever a bad band came out people started calling them "metal", I'm sure with enough time people would say "metal is shit" and make bands like Megadeth look bad.
@oop007 your right dude / dudeette (not sure if ya a guy or a gal) thank god bands like TGUK aint on majors that all I can say! it would be cool to hear them more but I would rather not here scenesters and that digging them cause they have one good song that they deem rockin.

This is one of the first "EMO" bands. Bands like the cure were not emo though a huge part of it's roots.

New emo bands have given emo such a bad name, that people now a days just automatically assume any emo band is shit.
This band is a testament to the fact that good emo bands do exist, just not this era of emo bands :(
