dogor64 why they dont put up the landing gear is because this is a test flight and the first so if it wouldnt fly they would have to do a emergency landing.
Hi there. What an amazing aircraft it is. My dad is currently training to be a pilot for the 787 the will eventually be delivered to virgin atlantic and he cant wait! What is the songs title please?
Final gauntlet test on the 747-8 was completed last Saturday so we should see this beast taxing around real soon.
Rumor said first flight should be around early February.
There was also a small delay on the flight testing of the 787 due a small piece of cheesecloth found in the fuel system. The testing should be resumed soon.
Boeing states that it will be more fuel-efficient than earlier Boeing airliners and will be the first major airliner to use composite materials for most of its construction. (no aluminium used in its construction so it is lighter and stronger)
there are plenty more benefits that go along with this but I don't feel like listing them all...
there have been many of articles release about it.... it shouldn't be hard to find any..
@shibbiness the wings are one of a kind, called raked wings. modified special engines for more efficiency and noise reduction, state of the art cockpit technology, with a display used in fighter jets. A work of art.
I have had a look into this plane using the info on wikipedia. Seems like there is not a lot of difference between the 787 and the 777. I have found that this plane is much cheaper to buy and its engines are not as powerful. Basically it should also have better maintenance as it is a modern plane. I wondered why the wings started to bend when it got up to speed. Because their made of carbon fibre. Good stuff that. I use it in my RC planes.
@arsenium666 i like Boeing but I hate how they go 10-15 years between first flights of all-new aircraft! Airbus seems to be cranking out a new plane every 5-7 years. That's what Boeing needs to do. I say they need to have the rollout--or better yet, the first flight--on July 15, 2016; that's their 100th anniversary. They MUST start working on the 797 now, once they deliver the 787!
yes. they do this in order to neutralize all systems and limit the number of operation happening all at the same time in order to provide accurate computer read out off there test data. If I am not mistaken the will leave it out the entire flight
ummm....840 orders if I am correct. This will be the most successful aircraft program since the 737 or ever for that matter.....if they can deliver. I am sure they will.

why do they not retract the landing gears for so long? :S
tarekkash 2 years ago
because it's kind of a test flight so they keep them out in case of emergencies

Later this month, we will be able to see the first flight of the 747-8 :)

It really does look a superbly beautiful aeroplane. Thank goodness it did such a successful first flight.

hey people what is the reason for the pilot dont up the landing gear?
dogor64 2 years ago 4
Common procedure in Aviation, to avoid any unnecesary risk during a first flight.
arsenium666 2 years ago 4
@arsenium666 what's the risk?
mevlutunlu42 1 month ago
@mevlutunlu42
Not deploying correctly the landing gear could lead to a crash land= Upset of the testing and certification process!
Which would add another delay to the programm (3 years behind schedule yet)
; )

It is a beauty, however I like technique the most, the way the capt. tracked the centerline so well on takeoff.

If you know me...you´d noticed than I´m one of the most critic against Boeing on the Tube..if not the Number 1.
That´s why after all this years...we must congratulate Boeing for being able to put a new Bird in the SKY.
Well Done...finally.

Probably the best video of this event I've found. News helicopter footage?
And yes, the A380 is a technological beauty, but few airliners can compete with the 787 in terms of pure looks :)
huntster1701 2 years ago 2
did they inteionally leave the gear on the plane out?

yes. they do this in order to neutralize all systems and limit the number of operation happening all at the same time in order to provide accurate computer read out off there test data. If I am not mistaken the will leave it out the entire flight

ah thanks, learn something new and intresting everyday

Yes. For several reasons that's normally done on a first test flight.

Good for Boeing...they´ll need to deliver to catch up Airbus:
219 Net Orders for Airbus.
118 Net Orders for Boeing.
If ain´t Airbus...crash is around the corner.

The 787 does not compete with the A380. It competes with the smaller A330 and upcoming A350 XWB. The 747-800 will compete with the A380.
yipribadi 2 years ago 10
Yeah, you're right...and yet there are still a lot of people keep making comparison videos between the 787 and A380...

very nice and elegant airplane... but i prefer the bulky looks from the A380
