i dunno who I liked more. Johnny wasn't trying to just capture Thompson, he had to emulate Raoul Duke too. Bill Murray, I think, captured Thompson and his REAL exploits much better.

I agree. I can't say which one I like better because they're slightly different. Johnny Depp's performance is more cartoonish and exaggerated to fit the Duke alter-ego while Bill Murray's performance is more toned down and realistic. I guess they both portray HST brilliantly in their own way so It would be impossible to say that one is better than the other.
