  • The singer sings clear and I like the tone of his voice. Some times the choirs sound nice but you can't understand what they say. I'm Catholic, but I like to sing with some people that aren't in a rest home.

They were asking me for this song. Now we will sing it together.

Thanks again. Keep the good work. God bless!

  • I can tell its a Peragallo by the design of the stop tabs and the shape of the keys! (:

  • Thats a Peragallo by the looks of it.. how many ranks? My church has a 25 year old one, only 2man. 14 ranks

  • @jsquared1313 Wow, how can you tell it's a Peragallo? :-) This one is 3-manuals, 42 stops with 35 ranks. It was originally a Ruben-Midmer & Sons, and was expanded by Peragallo in the 80's.

  • i am catholic too and i have to say that both the singer and player did a beautiful job!!! not sure what the person at the top is complaining about.

  • I love this song, thank you for posting it. I have been trying to learn it on piano, kinda a slow process...

I am courious as to why you don't siing the tenor line though? Why sing the melody an octave lower?

  • Absolutely terrible. As a Catholic, I have to say that this music a Catholic church. Nowhere else is the quality this bad..."Sending Forth Hymn"!? Have you no sense of the divine or solemn? Really, the zimbelstern...

  • @lotrmusicproject LOL at you! I guess I can't win them all. lol

  • Wonderful and glorious!! Thank you, and God bless you!

  • "Lift high the cross. The love of Christ proclaim. Till all the world....adore...his sacred name."...Beautiful hymn. Great work!

  • It was pretty and it's the lyrics that are used in my church.

  • I think the point is all denominations have their own version. What is odd is "Christian" or not I do not particularly enjoy the division of the sects. I experience the slight hymn changes in my own parish. How about let's play it and sing it like the original composer. Would you change a J.S. Bach piece? I think not.

  • A great hymn.

But something has aroused my curiosity:

why do you play left hand and pedals in octave parallels?

  • "Come, Christians, follow where the Master trod"?

Surely it is "Come, brethren, where our Captain trod"!

  • @CCFHymns Brethren?? Wow, what hymnal book are you using? I was using a red GIA Worship III hymnal, which reads "Come, Christians, follow where the Master trod."

  • @adobosazon I use the New English Hymnal and Hymns Ancient and Modern, they both say "come, brethren, follow where our Captain trod". I've never seen anything different, but perhaps that's because I'm English (!).

  • @adobosazon Both are valid. I think the first version included "brethren" and "captain" but these were removed to make it less sexist and martial-sounding.

  • @CCFHymns The version I'm familiar with says, "Come, Christians follow, where our Savior trod."

  • @CCFHymns

the hymnal I use the lyrics are also "Come Christians follow, where the Savior trod"

There are usually slight variances in lyrics between the different hymnals.

I have the We Celebrate hymnal by WLP publications

  • That was a great arrangement!

  • Lol, love the Jesus bobblehead bro/

  • This has always been a favourite hymn of mine. I like the use of the zimbelstern on the refrain. Good show, five stars.

  • The lyrics are off.

  • I'm not sure what you mean. Do you mean the words are wrong? Pitch is off-key? Each word starts slightly off from how I am playing it? Please elaborate.

  • I think she means the lyrics you are singing are different, because when I look in my hymnal, the words are: "Led on there way by this triumphant sign the hosts of God in conquering ranks combine." Is the 1st verse in my hymnal, and I don't have the "Come, Christians..." verse in my book.

lilacprincess00 - Some hymnals/missals have different wording used in them. They aren't all the same.

  • is that you singing and playing?

  • @adobosazon I never heard verse #2. In the Episcopal church, they do not sing that one. They sing the first verse, then they go to "Led on their way by this triumphant sign"

I was completely unaware that they sang this song in RC churches. I thought that it was a Protestant hymn. Of course, the Episc church is both catholic as well as Protestant. As for me, I'm Cathepis (originally a RC who converted). Tehehe

  • Great Job!!!

This has got to be my favorite processional for Palm Sunday. Your version is great.

What kind of organ are you playing?

  • Thanks! The swell department on our organ is above and so is the great organ. The choir organ is below. The 32' open wood is at the back along with the others! Ours is eumatic action ( sorry if not spelt right!) and fully wind. It had 4 pistons and offers a large sound as it echoes! God bless

  • I keep listening to the ending. Its spine tingling! Love it!

    God Bless

  • Thanks! To answer your question below, it is not tracker-action, it's actually electronic (the console I mean). There are real pipes, and pretty responsive... but part of the problem is the location. The pipes are actually located in the front of the church, and I am in the front, too. The pipes are behind me and up on a loft, so the sound that makes it back to me is probably the sound that bounces off the back of the church and back to the front again.

  • Is it me or does this organ take a long time to respond to a key pressed. Is it dusty inside? Is it heavy to play? If its a tracker (correct me if I am wrong.)

  • Very Very good organ. Has it had a rebuild recently? Its brilliant. A bit like ours.

  • Not recently at all. It was a bit smaller up until 1983 (I think) when it was expanded and a new console installed. Nowadays, a local organ company comes to tune 4 times a year and fix any issues with out of tune pipes, dead notes, or problems with the console electronics.

  • Beautiful - thanks - Lance † † †

  • This seems like a nice little hymn for a recessional on Palm Sunday. But, our cantor likes to leave us on a sad note at the end of mass and we sing "Jesus Remember Me, When You Come into your Kingdom. Jesus Remember Me, When You Come into Your Kingdom."

  • Actually, the words are perfect for the processional on Holy Thursday. Look at the words from the Introit for Holy Thursday: "We ought to glory in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ: in whom is our salvation, life, and resurrection: by whom we have been saved and delivered." Pretty good, huh?

  • your voice is GOOD!!! u can be an OPERA SINGER man!!

    ALLELULIA!!

    fantastic finale and grand ending!!

  • Absolutley Beautiful, nice full organ sound. We always use this hymn as our processional hymn for Palm Sunday mass.

  • LOL!!! You have the buddy Christ!!!

  • Really detracts when a worship leader sings into the mike. I am a fellow organist, and I know.

  • Ha, it is actually me singing into the mic. We don't have a cantor, so I sing and play at the same time.

  • It's actually better, adobosazon, when a Male is a cantor, because most of our cantors at my church are women, and when they sing High D or High E on the Treble Clef, it isn't a pretty sound and gets very distracting, and makes you want to laugh. Your voice is 1000x better.

  • I like your strenghtful playing!! Really fantastic

  • from about 2 min till the end is AWESOME! I love the bold and full organ sounds

  • Very very beautiful!! Me gusta mucho este himno. Gracias. Thank very much. God and virgin Maria bless you

  • WOW!!!!!!!! Absolutely beautiful!

  • Amazing. Love it.

  • Man... You sure tore that up! I love those trumpets!!!!!!!!

  • I am an ELCA Lutheran from South Carolina. I play the piano and organ. This past Sunday (August 31), we sang this as our closing hymn. It is #660 in Evangelical Lutheran Worship in the Witness section. Just thought I'd share.

  • We sang this for the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul.

  • What church is this?

  • Incredible! One of my favorite hymns, and probably the best I've heard it played as well.

Interestingly, after going to church all my life, I don't remember it farther than 5 years back or so.

  • WOW!!!!!! please teach me!!!!!!!! was the endin improvised or was it part of the original sheet music! Fantastic Playing!

  • Thanks!! The finale ending (last couple of measures) was actually improvised. I just made up those chords to make the ending a bit more grand. :)

  • What a superb ending - WOW! What a treat to play on an organ with three full keyboards!

  • Such a grand hymn, played so well, on such a grand organ!

  • VERY well done, INDEED! :D

    ~Cindy! :)

    ..

  • did you use the stops called "Mixtures" in this piece?

  • I think he used Mixtures. It is very nice.

  • Yup, they are mixtures... It's a Mixture III on the Great.

  • I love bobblehead Jesus over there... :) I need to get me one of those at my church.

  • its not just a jesus...its a buddy christ

  • this is handsdown the best version of this hymn I've ever heard. excellent job and the organ sounds great once again.

  • did i hear chimes - how fun, they always make me smile!

  • Lovely organ. Especially love the blaze of reeds at the end, and the big Hollywood Ending! And how nice to have gotten a round of applause. Glad folks stuck around to listen.

Was that a Zimbelstern you added at 1:00?! Are you playing the pedals? It's hard to tell in my tinny computer speakers.

  • What the hell are you talking about, "Hollywood Ending"? Nothing this beautiful, Christian, and traditional would ever exist in Hollywood. Those godless movie whores wouldn't know how to appreciate it if it came with an instruction manual on how to do so!

  • The expression "Hollywood Ending" has nothing to do with the City of Hollywood per se. It's a term in general use in the English Language to indicate a big, dramatic finish to something. "Godless Movie Whores?" A shame someone has such blistering hatred for a place he's probably never even been. Believe it or not, there are some fine people in Hollywood, and even a couple of "Beautiful Traditional Christians." Your judgmental, ignorant, narrow-mindedness is really very sad. I'll pray for you.

  • Thanks, it was a Zimbelstern I used for one of the refrains. I always find it a nice touch to add at the end of mass. Then I usually turn it up a notch as people are leaving for a big finish. I am using the pedals; I pull out the Bombarde 16 at the end as well.

  • i love this organ. it sounds awesome. where is it located?

  • This organ is located in a Roman Catholic church in Brooklyn, New York.

  • i don't know which i like better

    your voice

    or your playing.

  • lol

  • That's me singing... That wasn't the choir mass, so I am both organist and cantor. :)

  • I hate the Vicars Singing can he turn off his mike??
