  • DiMaggio is the only guy who can pull off an insane clown, a talking dog, a beer drinking robot and an angel warrior

  • i like this joker better but i want the old voice joker back. i like this voice thou

  • @Tsexe07 The original voice of Joker is retiring. His last gig was in the newest Batman game, Arkham City. Such a shame..but I like this guy's voice too! He nails the laugh! >w<

  • in young justice

  • one question to CN DC and WB WHY U NO HAVE JOHN DIMAGGIO AS JOKER?!

  • oh dear lord ..Im scared of the joker again . . . .O.O

  • omg favorite line: "ya gonna do it this time, or are ya just gonna put me in another bodycast for 6 months" :D :D :D

  • Joker's reation @ 4:20 ".....look at all the fucks I give!"

    hahahahahahaa Sorry, I couldn't resist @ 4:21 "I'LL TAKE A POTATO CHIP.....AND EAT IT!!!!!"

  • Party pooper, no cake for you. XD

  • "Get one with me and the kid first. Then you and me, and then one with the crowbar" The way he said that was hilarious! props to Dimaggio's joker

  • Best joker since Hamill. . .

  • @garlock007 perfect cross of Hamill and Ledger IMO

  • I love the laugh. DiMaggio is an amazing Joker.

  • If epic rap battles ever get joker vs... then they need to get this giy

  • hes gotta get more into the high pitched laughter but other than that hes keeping the joker alive!!

  • I complete diagree: i've like most actors who played the joker (at least in the films) but i hated john dimaggios joker: he sounds like everyother sterotypical italian mobster

  • Isn't that arm at 5:39 kinda... short?

  • Joker: party pooper no kick for you

Ja ja ja that's truly funny

  • HMM. I like this joker, very dark. I love this voice. awww.

  • There's BLOOD in DC MOVIE???? Gotta watch it, like, right now!

  • Party pooper no cake for you

  • I mean...as far as I know, whenever I hear the joker and read what he says in the comics, I always hear Mark Hamill. Not fully knocking DiMaggio but Joker needs to sound a bit more crazier...not some big black guy.

  • @napalmman420 John DiMaggio isn't black.

  • @bluecatcinema I never said he was. I said the Joker SOUNDS like a big black guy.

  • I can definitely hear a little Jake the Dog in there at times, lol. That being said, I think DiMaggio did a great job as the Joker. I would love to have him take over in the next Batman game.

  • Marcus Fenix as the joker.

  • The laugh is great, but... voice is more like a dock worker than a psychotic criminal mastermind. Joker should sound like an actual clown - not a fat birthday clown on vacation cracking a Budweiser.

  • He has a great evil laugh! I'm just not sure about the voice! D: It just doesn't seem like it's the right pitch. But it was great for this movie though, since he looks older. I just can't see him in anything else. D:

  • Rocksteady dont have to worry about they're next batman game :D this joker is almost as good as Mark Hammil's!

  • Joker: Bite my shiny metal ass!

Robin: It doesn't look that shiny...

    Joker: Shinier then yours meatbag.

  • note taken, never give the joker a fucking glass of water

  • that bit about the crowbar...i died..."then one with the crowbar"...that's funny shit

  • 3:22 The moment when the Joker's normally clownish facade slips into his demonic nature.

  • To everyone: Mark never said he was retiring, just doing alot less since (spoiler) joker dies in Arkham City.

  • laugh=good

    voice=mmmmm...

  • I like this version of the Joker. He doesn't look like the scary freak like Nickolsons or Hamills. He looks older and looks like he has had several beatings. He sounds more laid back but more intelligent, probably with age. he reminds me of my neighbor: been round the block a few times on his face, intelligent and seems approachable until you see his twisted sense of humor. Perhaps thats the scary part, you can approach but is already to late when you do.

  • No cake for you.

  • @LazyNinja07 It was a lie.... All a LIE!! LIIEEES!!

  • he's got the voice pretty good. deep and slightly raspy. and the laugh too

  • I'll give it to him. For me, to be the joker you gotta have the right laugh. Mark Hamil's joker laugh is iconic. I think John D caught the essence of it & without a doubt made it his own and did a wonderful job executing it. But Mark's laugh is, to me, by far the best joker laugh

  • Whoa, this is beautifuly animated, actually... O.O

  • This guys Joker is like Mark Hamill's Joker done right.

  • May I have some water

  • I don't know, I mean, sure the Mark Hamill joker from BTAS was great, but if you examine this joker, he seems to be more composed, sinister, and calculating. I mean, if you examine the joker from BTAS, he doesn't seem like the sort of person who can break a glass, shank a guy, take his gun, and kill everyone else in the room. You know?

  • I Love It When Hes Eating His Chips And The Mans Trying To Speak Business! :')

  • Is this a movie? Or is this a show that I can watch? It looks pretty sick

  • @MrOctane794 Its a movie called batman: under the redhood

  • He's just not "wacky," if that's the word to use. Mark Hamill captures this essence very well. The Joker gets overly excited about things, and he has dark humor, but doesn't sound as dark as that.

  • If Mark is truly retiring his role, I do not want anyone BUT DiMaggio to take over the role from here on out until he himself retires.

  • @CrimsonPhantasms Amen to that!

  • @CrimsonPhantasms I second that motion.

  • @CrimsonPhantasms He's not retiring. Internet rumours blown out of proportion

  • Mark Hamill would be proud

  • Dammit they took this movie off of netflix. I should have watched it when i had the chance :(

  • You would think at a one point even the criminals would stop going to the Joker, realizing he's just too dang crazy and dangerous.

  • @TheNewmanProductions If you don't let him in on the joke, he'll come up with a new punchline.

  • Bender took on the shape of the Joker

  • Holy shit! Bender... is that you?!

  • @movierock69 Bender: What...No, Why would I wannadress up as some stupid clown?

  • @ceitiosaurus cause he's a "coma coma coma coma coma comeeeeediaaaaaaaan"

  • What movie is that one!!!???

  • Aw i was hoping for the "AND EVERYBODY STILL LOOSES" part.

  • I saw this movie when it was on the Netflix but I cant remember it that well. I didn't notice it was him as the joker so now I want to watch it again.

  • I prefer this joker to be honest, mark hamill is too silly for me. John dimmagio and Heath ledger were the only ones who could harness the true nature of joker. I wouldn't be afraid of a trickster clown, but I would be terrified of an unpredictable sociopath, who lacks so much empathy for human beings, that he develops a fetish for giving others pain and cruelty, that's the real joker

  • @grevelo99 Sounds more like Zsasz.

To harness the true nature of a character, the character must have a true nature and The Joker flips his about to keep things interesting.

One day he might spare a guy because he liked his shoelaces, the next day he might kill the same guy because he liked his shoelaces.

  • @ChewyBurnsy People spend a large amount of time trying to think of a personality that fits him. Trying to use a tone of voice that clicks with this character. Though, what they usually end up doing is overlooking that he isn't just one personality. If someone is going to attempt at voicing this character, all I have to say is "Wing it" Don't try, just do it.

  • @NintendoDrunkie But it's so much safer to pick a version and try and pin a voice to it. The longer a character is around, the hard he is to truly get right. People will ahve their preferences and scoff very quickly when someone tries something new.

I've said it before, anyone can give it a go but they have to give it their all.

  • @grevelo99 well there is just one thing not true in your statement. The joker doesnt have a real nature he is a "superschizophreniac" he creates himself every day new and because of that every praesentation of the joker is great as long as it was did with passion.

  • @Jack567898 You refer to "Arkham Asylum" written by Grant Morisson, and it's super-sanity. He rebuilds his personality everyday based on his perceptions. It's just a great wasy of explaining why he didn't kill for an age.

This idea, though great, is contradicted in the original comic that "Under the Red Hood" is based upon, where Jason explains he has realised that the Joker fakes his insanity so that he can live with himself and doesn't get the death penalty for his crimes.

  • @Jack567898 When Jason says this to him The Joker, he frowns as if it was true. Even this is contradicted by Jokers later actions.

  • For having to perform in the wake of Mark Hamill's well-known voice work must have been intimidating, but I think Dimaggio did an awesome job here. I think he's a great option for future developers when Hamill finally retires.

  • i didn't really like this joker... :[ almost was too brutal. still liked the movie tho.

  • What batman show is this from?

  • @airsoftforever334 not a show but from a movie, Batman: Under the Red Hood

  • re: the second scene: ANOTHER example of the black guy dies first!!! the black guy always dies first! (Apocalypse Now is the worst cause its a double)

  • I like how his Joker is sinister

  • Holy Shit! I never knew John played the Joker, but after only this clip he did Darn'FuckingTastic job.

  • i like john he is really good as the joker

  • i have always liked johns work like marcus fenix from gears of war, or bender from futurama, and of course jake from adventure time and i still never expected him to do the joker. but after seeing this movie i have to say i'm pretty impressed

  • lmao my favorite part: "So who's got a camera? Oo oo! Get one with me and the kid first! Then you and me, then the three of us, and then one with the crowbar! Then-"

  • i've just realized that John gave his voice to Smiling Jack too o.O anyone, vtm: bloodlines?

  • Nah. Im just going to keep beating you with this crowbar. hahahaha HAHAHAHA. HAAAAAHAAAHAAAHAHHAHAHAHAHA!

  • I completely forgot about this Joker performance

  • Sometimes I remember it one way, sometimes another. If I have to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice.

  • Joker + crowbar = well... We're doomed...

  • Yup pretty incredible

  • no mark hamill, but still. holy shit.

  • Bender

  • Bender

  • It'd be kinda funny and wtf'sh if a young woman looking alot like Harley seemed to wander in, looking at her smart phone, locating the Joker, as lets say he has his own phone in his back pocket or something. And she's like, "wtf?! what are you doing to my husband?! Get your foot off him now!" and she like, has twin boys and a pre-teen daughter with her. And like, goes on "I'll tell you why he's still alive without him we'd starve you..." and she goes on to kick his ass like any good wife/mum.

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble That would only be funny if you added a banana skin

  • @ChewyBurnsy Fine, we'll add the banana skin. Happy now?

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble Never, that would make me a bad consumer.

  • @ChewyBurnsy Okay, so do you want the banana peel/skin or not in the gag? (Maybe we should stick to the crowbar?)

  • @MegaMonkeyTrouble if it's a Big Mike the banana skin would be better.

  • Bite my shiny metal crowbar!

  • @ChewyBurnsy I'm sure if they did a third Arkham game with Joker in mind he'd come back. Also I read that he'd return if a animated version of the Killing Joke story would happen which would be AWESOME!!!! So here's hoping he returns in one way or another

  • Comment removed

  • @speakdino10 AUGHHH ya spoiled it for me :( it's ok, I kind of suspected it anyways

  • @EinsteinEMP826

Oh damn, I'm so sorry. I hate people who do that. I don't post anything about the game on videos about the game itself. I forgot people watch Batman vids when games come out. My bad.

  • i think this jokers underrated he's really play the crazy side well

  • I agree with wolfman. Mix of Ledger & Hamill, you get one frightening Joker from DiMaggio

  • I like John DiMaggio's joker, its like a mix of Heath Ledger's from the Dark Knight and Mark Hamill from BTAS, JL, JLU, ect

  • Wanna know my opinion? Hate him.Oh no, not the voice actor, this iteration of the Joker. Jesus Christ! He's genuinely horrifying! The old Joker isn't capable of a fraction of what this one is. He's too much to watch. Too real. He's more the kind of evil we have on the streets, not on the pages. Truth is more terrifying than fiction.

  • @VinnyVanYiffy But what's what we saw in the Dark Knight.

  • @ceitiosaurus Well if they were going for a balanced cross between Nicholson and Ledger, then by God they're spot on, But too fucking dark for me. Just opinion.

  • Hell yea

  • damn this guy does a seriously good job o___o

  • I love him. This is an awesome Joker.

  • Hamills joker is more genuinely humerous. Ledgers is more creepy scary. DiMaggio seems smack dab in the middle. Creepy scarier then Hamills and a tough more humor then Ledgers

  • @battybuddy Hamill did creepy scary, he was just more balanced in the middle. I'd say the balance goes: Mark Hamill: 40% scary 60% funny- Heath Ledger: 80% scary 20% funny- John Dimaggio: 50% scary 50% funny.

  • @ChewyBurnsy Oh, I agree. I didn't say Hamil didn't do creepy scary- in fact, at times he had me feeling tenser then Ledgers when he got serious. I also liked the vibe that he gave that Joker wanted to get Batman to break his stone face image BEFORE he killed him. Ledger and Dimaggio dont seem to care. I also agree with your percentages though I'd put Mark's as more 35% scary 65% funny. Mostly cause even in some of his scary moments he was funny

  • @battybuddy I was only picking percentages that felt right and yes I would agree with your correction.

Joker doesn't want to kill Batman most of the time, he knows the loss of his straight man would mean the end of his career. The Jokers mind is always in flux though, so sometimes he does want to say goodbye and thanks for the laughs but the greatest performers always want to do one last show so in a small way he's happy Batman doesn't die.

Blah blah blah, I do go on sometimes.

  • Like this if you think John is a suitable replacement for Mark Hamill since Mark's retired from doing the Joker

  • @comicmaster217 Mark Hamill is not willing to to Joker just for the pay. He wanted to leave on a high note and Arkham Asylum was going to be it, then he saw what they were doing for Arkham City and that was a bigger final to his Joker voicing days.

Lets hope the bring Joker back in the best way possible in the third game and we get a trilogy of Hamill goodness.

  • is that the voice of Jensen Ackles?!

  • I was going to be a douche bag and say this voice sucks but it was actually pretty awesome since Mark Hamill isnt doing the Jokers voice any more they should have John DiMaggio he did pretty good

  • this joker is more similar to the comics

  • I hear Jake the dog every time he talks not a bad thing just saying

  • I'd like it more if 1. the art style didn't bug me and 2. I hadn't heard Dimaggio voice so many other characters in so many other shows. He has a great voice but I think I've heard most of what he can do with it.

If they do a third Arkham game(and don't call it Arkham World) I would love to hear him voice one of the villians, maybe a Jeremiah Arkham version of the Black Mask? That is if he didn't use the voice he used in Brave and the Bold.

  • @ChewyBurnsy Than who would you want to hear? You better not say Mark Hamill.

  • @ceitiosaurus If I want Mark Hamills Joker i'll watch my BTAS dvds or play either Arkham game, I just want those who play the joker to give their all.

Mr.Hamill is my favorite, always will be but I would not limit the character by saying only one person can ever voice or play him.

  • @ChewyBurnsy I think I like his the best cause his voice is downright fuckin terrifying Joe Dimaggio may be good but he doesn't have that all over the place voice that Hamill does he comes off as an actual nutcase not just a murderous dark heart.

  • @orichalcossaiyan I can't follow who your rooting for but I'll assume Mr. Hamill: His voice is fantastic, I love everything he has done in the role but the sad truth is people age, and so do voices. He still sounds great, but he does sound different, his Joker voice has gotten deeper and it crackles a little(not a bad thing.) One day he just won't sounds right in the role anymore, and we will want the next man to wear the smile waiting, I hope it's a while until then.

  • @ceitiosaurus I have to admit he is growing on me.

  • "Nah, I'm just gonna keep beating you with this crowbar."

  • Bender

  • @Sunmayful Smiling Jack.

  • "Party pooper...no cake for YOU."

ROFL John did an amazing job picking up the Joker.

  • For all those who don't like his new voice, I would like to refer you to 4:18.

  • Sounds like Marcus Fenix (yes I know John is the voice actor for Marcus Fenix)

  • Waaay too monotone. He might as well not have been the joker. The laugh is pretty good I guess.

  • ... na im just going to keep beating you with this crowbar.

  • I love the potato chip scene from this movie, 'cause it reminds me of the pencil moment from "The Dark Knight."

  • I can't get my head around Bender being a psychotic killer... wait... never mind.

  • Mark Hamill will probably go down as the definitive voice of the Joker, but as a voice actor, John DiMaggio is the best going right now.

  • I actually like this joker a lot.

  • no cake for you.

  • Mark Hamill is definitely who I think of when I think "Joker"... But I can't deny how much I love this one. He's so cruel and frightening! <33

  • isnt dimaggio the voice for bender from futurama?...

  • @523TRITO Yes.

  • It's impressive that with so much hitting...he doesn't bleed more than he does. And don't tell me that this is so kids can watch it, because there is violence enough to counter that statement xD

  • @digitalVipar they probably didn't want an r rating for this movie.

  • @desertbatstudios I suppose, but given the circumstances of the movie, the seriousness and the maturity of the Batman series as well, I would've think that the content would be completely mature, in that department.

  • @digitalVipar Well, his outfit's mostly red, so I can imagine that the blood does a great job of hiding itself! XD

  • @Anucachi Red is just psychological :P

If you think about it, it has no practical purpose in combat like Batmans, which blends in easier with the environment xD

But like, when he spits at the Joker, and then he smashes his face down into the stone, his nose breaks :x

  • "... in your big boy pants" lol

  • I think he did a great joker!! I can see why some people feel partial to mark hamill as the joker though.

  • Can't unhear Bender

  • WHAT CARTOON IS THIS! I KNOW ITS BATMAN BUT WHATS IT CALLED

  • @Xerothe0th It's a movie called "Under the Red Hood".

  • not better then hammill but close

  • "party pooper, no cake for you" XD

  • Best line is definitely "And then one with the crowbar!"

  • The reason why it's hard to take in John as the Joker is because of his recent and previous roles on television, all of which are usually nonsensical. Hearing him perform in a darker more vicious and menacing way is actually impressive. There's something about his voice that just shows the reserved and chaotic evil that the Joker really is. I would love to see John have more roles as the Joker in the future to see his full potential.

The laugh needs a bit more work however.

  • John DiMaggio is the worst joker :-| Hamill is the best!!!!!!!

  • @TheXactCritic You want the worst joker... Listen to Brent Spiner's in Young Justice.

  • @TheXactCritic

Yeah, but Hamill doesn't want to do the Joker anymore. This guy is the next best alternative imo. Plus you want a bad Joker? Watch the Young Justices Joker, he looks, sounds, and acts nothing like the Joker.

  • I see joker, i hear part of his laugh. But my spine is not chilled with joker. Meaning, Hamill does it a fuck ton better. Besides i don't think i can picture Joe DiMaggio blowing up a Death star. Oh and, Mark Hamill, way more Sadistic then DiMaggio. There's just something too Kosher about DiMaggio.

  • now that i think about it, maybe its a good thing they left this out of the animated series, this really was one of the more graphic storylines in the batman comics

  • 4:39 Like a boss

  • His animation gives me an artboner

  • Oh, party pooper. No cake for you!

  • 0:50 YAY!

  • @freppoman FUCK YEAH PONIES /)

  • That is the softest sounding crowbar I have ever heard.

  • I like DiMaggio a LOT better than Hamill's childish tone.

  • When Joker starts talking about taking pictures I couldn't stop laughing.

"And then one with the crowbar!"

  • Does anyone else realize he only has, like, 2 different audio grunts of pain?

If I were getting beat with a crowbar while still conscious, I would be making a lot more noise than just, "Oh." and "Ugh." Notice the way I punctuated them with a period at the end instead of an exclamation point, THAT is how Robin sounded here.
