The capturing of slaves was done by other blacks. Slavery was endemic to most African tribes at that time. Whites would rarely venture into the interior of sub-Saharan Africa during the time of the Atlantic slave trade. Whites would be on the coast in ships. Energy costs are lower than European prices in SA, however so is the cost of living. I wasn't making a flippant remark, I have seen costings for Eskom, and have had associates flown over to work on their infrastructure. Alot of funds are marked for salaries and taken from other places in the company budget and Subsidy.

But I agree, if you come to our country, Texas is good because it's cheaper than CA yet still has the big city urban environments that yield the big jobs.

Yea, California is a dead zone economically. I am from Los Angeles but am living in Dallas. I would recommend anyone moving to this country go to Texas, Arizona, Utah, or Virginia. The southern States and the mountain states are i better economic shape right now if you are in need of a job. But I guess a upside to Los angeles is there is a large South African presence there that left SA in the 70s and 80s.
