brings a tear to my eye, fantastic tune, brilliant times, the eighties were fantastic to be a twentysomething in. This was the backdrop to my life, and I wish I could have it back. love it.
This takes me back to my days in the 6th form when you could dance and sing at the same time! How I miss the 80s. Wasn't life great then? Please can I turn the clock back to 1987 when I was taking my A levels and about to embark on 4 years at University!!!! Where has the time gone??? Im nearly 42!!!!
If only the music industry could look at what was possibly one of the most individual and cool boy bands from the 80`s.He could still be playing discs for small audiences ina chelsea bar but he was one of the most natural frontmen who had that little bit more than just a voice !! Curiosity lives on ..........and on........
The 1980's really were a golden era for British music. Perhaps born out of the challenging start to the decade as anyone living in the UK at the time will remember when Margaret Thatcher took power. If creativity is a child of austerity, then perhaps the outlook for British music is looking up as the country find's itself in economic hardship again.
they seemed like an even popier, funkier version of Simple Minds a la New Goldream.....without the brass section obviously....even the singer (Ben) passed a slight resemblance to Kerr...though Kerr was better dressed...and had better make up!!
love love this song...total blast from the past...and yes...happy days indeed. (dont remember his bandy legged dancing tho, does that mean I thought it was cool and danced like that too?!!)
"omg..I sooo loved this band back in the day...and wanted to marry the lead singer....where are they now??!!! After all this time..that record STILL stands up.....cheers!!! xoxo;]"
isn't it funny how songs can take you back... i remember what kind of clothes i had then Ben Sherman etc who I hanging out with, who I was dating etc Jane [best not say her full name] was an angel. oh yes, the good old days, before the scruffy bastards from manchester Happy Mondays etc took over. I hated that scene in the early 90s
omg..I sooo loved this band back in the day...and wanted to marry the lead singer....where are they now??!!! After all this time..that record STILL stands up.....cheers!!! xoxo;]
I always thought that despite their fleeting presence in the charts their songs were a cut above the rest - and 20 years on I haven't changed my mind. This song in particular stands the test of time. Happy days...
Personally I think little of the 80s music was actually naff. What's great is the diversity of the 80s charts. A soul/jazz influenced band such as CKTC could enjoy top 10 success. Mainstream/chart music today is sooo uniform in comparison. Very depressing.
Ben wa gypsey, for those that gave nothing to his tunes, I would guess,,, fuck you ^^ of all those that loved Curiositym enjjoy this to the full, as they were a great 80s band ^^
I remember reading about this band in The Andy Warhol Diaries about he was in their video. This song is quite good-nice distinct voice, like the lower register the singer has.
This takes you right back to when you could understand the lyrics and dance without totally knackering yourself out. You didn't need ecstacy to have a good night out. Maybe I'm showing my age!
I'm not sure about understanding the lyrics...when I was a kid I thought he was singing 'will you eat your bacon please' only later did I realise he sang 'will you ease your begging please'!!! Top tune though and it brings back so many memories for me!! Good post Andy2058
Great song, great video and Ben looks pretty hot too. Good combo. It takes me back to the time before the money monsters came in and made everything bland and samey. Thanks for the memory andy.
I have no idea why, but I watched this for the first time in about 20 years (oh my god !!!) and a sat here skrikin (crying) 1987 must have been an emotional time eh???? great to see it again, reminds me of ma blackburn girlies.
This track has always moved me and taken me to another dimension...thank you for giving us this wonderous gift, some of the best music ever made. I am in total awe. Love and respect to Ben and the others. Love Jay
80s... na i prefer it in 4years when the planet suffers from the rapture and the new world order has fully eaten into the public. then youll all remember this comment.wont you.....!
WoW !! These guys were part of my growing uo ... what a band, changed the music to COOL listening .. loved em to bits.. RESPECT big style and thanks to one of the most iconic bands of the 80's. wish i was back there !!!
thats confirmed i was there that night and very close to the stage no-one was miming there were what looked like electric pluggin systems along the front were all acoustics and vocal sounds were channelled through not like that now pity really
cool! Thanks for posting this . . . Am a huge fan of this band. There was a "non-miming" actual live performance of Down To Earth they did on Top Of The Pops I believe -- wish someone would put that up . . .
