  • If Jimmy is so great why didnt he come up with his own series of postures out of the thousands of postures out there to choose from? Did you know barkan was a Bikram student/ teacher before he realized he wasnt going to make as much money that way? So who is greedy? Bikram has been quoted many times saying that yoga belongs to everyone, he didnt create anything, out of thousands of asanas to choose from he developed a series which is now copied by people with no certification u thinks thats ok?

  • I've never heard a bunch of adults act like overly privileged, know it all assholes. It's Yoga u fuckheads, stop talking about it like you're experts cuz I seriously doubt any of you are!

  • Should say The " BIKRAM METHOD " you copycat unoriginal lemon

  • @thascalos

Yeah, because Bikram created hatha yoga asanas. He did a similar method because Tyrant Bikram copyrighted and tried to prevent people from teaching thousands year old poses without paying him for it, and Jimmy refused to play his game. So he just reogranized it a little and now you don't have to sign over your financial life to learn a little yoga.

These aren't Bikram's asana's. He didn't invent any of this, and nobody owns anyone elses body movements.

  • I've a question.I noticed my instructors were quite inconsistent with it. Which arms & legs should be at the bottom? eg: right arm bottom + left leg standing or right arm bottom + right legs standing? Wat majority in my studio had been was the latter (vice versa).

Any clue from the rest? Thank you.

  • @c1oudwind

It should be right arm under and right leg over just like in the video. Your studio should at least be consist even if it's wrong. You're probably at a very bad studio if the studio's basic teaching of a posture is not even consistent with itself.

  • @Yobachi2007 Hi, thks for the advice. My studio engaged many instructors from India. There were about 3 indian masters who performed differently from this video... I'm kinda confused too. I do know that many masters are doing the way that you described here.

  • @c1oudwind

You might be aware of people calling themselves "yoga masters". Someone is not a yoga master just because they're from India, anymore than someone from America is a baseball master just because baseball originated here.

I'd say check their credentials before you put too much faith in them. There are multiple ways to perform poses depending on it's purpose in a particular style. I'd ask one of the tregular teachers at your studio why the different methods for the same pose...

  • @Yobachi2007

....If you're doing the same style or method though, the pose should be the same. So if different teachers are telling you to do it differently, I think that's a problem.

  • I love Bikram...but the poses do not belong to Bikram....only the sequence. The 'poses' have been around way before Bikram decided to sequence his 26 poses in a heated room.

I take Bikram courses...but it makes me crazy when people think the poses BELONG to him. They belong to the Universe.

  • @key8422 ...sure it belongs to the universe...but why was this video brought to light in the first place...THANKS TO BIKRAM right?...so yeah...I don't like the fact that guy is selling a DVD based on Bikrams poses...NOT THE SEQUENCE...but what copy cat...although I do like the idea of a tutorial video...but to be fair...Bikram SHOULD be collecting a royalty off this guy...NO OFFENSE...but c'mon...this is not cool at all...

  • @Xodiac74 ...plus he in no way gives credit to BIKRAM on his website...maybe the rabbit goes a little deeper than we all know...maybe he had a falling out with homeboy BIKRAM back in the day...just maybe...

  • @Xodiac74

The Bikram poses are based on age-old yoga poses that have been around for centuries. Bikram simply trademarked the sequence and his particular guidelines for executing them, and alienated the larger yoga community in the process. Sure, his practices are great, but he doesn't own them, not by any stretch.

  • fraud

  • I wish he would open up some schools in San Diego, it would be nice to have some options.

  • this guy is a cheap poser... steals from Bikram.. thief.. clearly not a true yogi

  • @Freakynutbird .... stop drinking the Kool-Aid....

  • the barkan method is stolen from Bikram..

  • I don't think you can honestly say "stolen". It was public domain for a very LONG time before bikram
