I'm sorry, but I disagree with the negative comments about Katie's questions. There are a few of things she needs to do: 1) Allow the captain to create a logical narrative of the accident, by asking the right questions at the right time, 2) make sure that everything the public wants to know is covered, and 3) doing it in such a way that allows the captain to be the center of the interview.
Questions might seem dumb, but they get the job do.

This is why I have faith in flying. The airplanes are designed for safety and most importantly the people who fly them are absolute professionals. Sullenberger deserves awards for his efforts at saving the lives of human beings. And yes based on the earlier posts why would anyone consider lady GaGa a "hero" next to Captain Sullenberger. Why do you think this chic asks dumb questions? For someone who does not know nothing about flying an airplane, would DEFINITELY ask the same questions. What you might have missed words like, "You are amazing", "Oh God, you are fantastic".
But agree, this pilot has some GODLY calm in his voice and attitude.

I'm sorry, but I disagree with the negative comments about Katie's questions. There are a few of things she needs to do: 1) Allow the captain to create a logical narrative of the accident, by asking the right questions at the right time, 2) make sure that everything the public wants to know is covered, and 3) doing it in such a way that allows the captain to be the center of the interview.
Questions might seem dumb, but they get the job do.

@walkinwithjesus These are questions the American people want to see answered. Anywhere between 58 and 82% of Americans are christian, and this is interesting to a lot of them. Also, as with a good Hollywood story, people want to hear the emotional side of it. She was hoping for an answer to that first question in the line of 'I wanted to save _my_ passengers, I felt a responsibility to them' or something. Great for the movies! [see part 2]

His answers to those particular questions did exactly that: he explained he didn't pray, he had other things on his mind, and he didn't specifically think about the passengers, he had to do a job. THAT'S the narrative. Like a true hero, he doesn't try to overstate his accomplishment by making it a religious experience.

This is why I have faith in flying. The airplanes are designed for safety and most importantly the people who fly them are absolute professionals. Airline pilots have my utmost respect and deserve respect from those who benefit from their professional determination. Sullenberger deserves awards for his efforts at saving the lives of human beings. And yes based on the earlier posts why would anyone consider lady GaGa a "hero" next to Captain Sullenberger. People like THIS are the S&*&!

I've seen his remarks (but I can't find them now...) I think it may have been in his testimony to the NTSB, that in the very few seconds he had, he gave careful thought to his choice of words there. I won't try to quote because my memory won't do his testimony justice, but his terminology was carefully considered, and the result is clear.
