Is increasing efficiency of production bad? You seem to think so. If the government put restrictions on using machinery in production, forcing hand production of all goods, wouldn't that create so many jobs and make the economy better? Did industrialization destroy the economy because of the people who lost their jobs to machines? Absolutely not! It increased efficiency therefore production and it lowered costs therefore prices.

bring back the manufacturing jobs to america because thats where i want to work when i'm older...not. Its simple economics, if a firm saves money on things like tech support, programming, etc. they ll have more money to hire qualified american workers

People need to stop STOP .. using any ITEM that don't support Americans with JOBS.. you call and you hear that thick accent you cant understand.. ask yourself if you want to be part of the problem with outsourcing.... its good cause i get lower prices. Only the manufactoring jobs is going over seas. Theres so many jobs such as doctors, lawyers, computer programmers, accountants, roofers, that dont need a manufactoring base. If they make the stuff in America, It wont be profitable to have the low prices we have now. Everything would be way more expensive. America thrived during the dotcom boom durin the 90s after most of the manufactoring jobs were already gone.

@sassyblondeinwa I have to disagree. The 200 million plus workers in America isn't close to enough to supply all of the goods and services we consume. There's about a trillion working full time to produce goods and services for us, from china to europe and all around the world. If we did as you suggested, we'd have less wealth, and we would destroy so many jobs around the world that it would cause a global recession that would affect us.

call center jobs.. were jobs that older people... and people with bad teeth and overweight people and people with limitations could get. sure they are opening a school where they once employed thousands.. but i bet not one single person with limitations can get a job there..

and for your factual information IT LAN receive aporoximatly 1-6,000 aplications for their job postings. They will not hire a graduate from 1989 when they can hire a graduate from 2011, so what do you propose I do? Roll over and die so you can tread on me? check your facts you looser, less then 20% of outsourced American jobs are reported, you want proof look up Virgin Mobile USA who let go more then 145,000 jobs and never even reported that they outsourced them, so none of us could get training

and as far as your idea I should find a diffrent line of work. I was not trained in college as a LAN Administrator or Software Developer. But I can't afford to go to school again, and Network Technitian jobs have been out sourced as well you fool! I personally have lost 4, not one but four jobs due to outsourcing. My income has dropped me out of the middle class into poverty and I have been unemployed since July 4th 2010! If my job came back to America I could work.

80% of the IT jobs that India picked up in their first wave were not company employees. The let go contractors like me. They let 10 of us go to hire 20 Indian workers and hire 1 company person with in the company. You did not include those numbers in your oursourced jobs, so your little pie chart is not valid! 60% of the small town local computer stores across America closed down because they lost those jobs to foreign workers, but we were contractors so you forgot to include us in your list.

Now, please show me examples of IT professionals or engineers who find better jobs after their jobs get outsourced. I read that outsourcing creates jobs in the US. What good "white-collar" jobs are created in the US from outsourcing?

@aronahCLT You mean to tell me the IT Help Desk jobs, which are the most stressful in the industry, that are outsourced are better the LAN Administrators, Software Developers, Network Technicians, etc. jobs which are less stressful and pay more?

In the past 3 years, I have seen 3/4ths of my department lose their jobs to china and india. I work in research for major Pharma. We all have masters degrees or PhD's. Obama says these are low end jobs. Thats BULLSHIT. These are high end technology jobs. Once we lose our technology base, there will be no difference between us and Mexico.
