The song, and the whole show for that matter, are about simplicity. "Happiness" is an extraordinarily beautiful song, and it's done to perfection here. So happy that Cheno, Rapp and company could make it more "energetic" and palatable for the younger generation, but I'll take this "blah" version any day. I'm happy to be someone who can appreciate songs, shows, books, films, and people from all generations - not just my own.

This is a classic show all the way around. The original 1967 cast recording can never be topped. And, yes, Reva Rose's final line reading does make for an "aw" moment.

I honestly like the revival better. They end it on a more energetic note with Bows.

Even though the ending where Lucy says "You're a good man, Charlie Brown" is supposed to be an "awww, what a sweet ending<33" moment, the way this actress says it does not make you go 'aw'. Just oh, that's it? Idk. I'm not a big fan of it. And in the revival the girls and boys split into a duet, which is nice and adds contrast. This is rather blah for me. Thanks for posting, though. It's still pretty! :D

@ashleysamoska Well you gotta know, this is the original and it was made in the 60's. the revival was made close to our generation and of course, they are bound to make changes and improvementds. The revival is good but it's always good to appreciate where it all began.

Well, of course. I really, really appreciate the originals, too, because if there wasn't an original the remake wouldn't have existed. I just prefer the revival. It's probably because I'm extremely partial to Kristin Chenoweth. :)
