Hitchens isn't the 'world's most recognisable atheist' - that would be Dawkins.

And what do you have to do to get him to hang up on you? Posit consistently circular arugments, void of logic, and essentially waste his (and everybody else's) time.

Wel... I dunno... Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Stephen Hawking... there are lots of atheists more widely known than Hitchens and Dawkins.

@blackplatypus That may be true, although they're not famous 'for' their atheism. Part of the popularity of Dawkins and Hitchens stems directly from their atheism, and their public activism on its behalf.

Although they both have other feathers to their caps too.
