He was not hit in the head with a teargas canister. He was not shot in the face. The orange sparking object is not teargas, it is NOT an LTL round like a beanbag. He was struck in the head at 1:10 in from behind as he faces the police. Black Bloc clad people rush to Olsen on the ground.
Vet’s injuries from Occupy Oakland protest not caused by deputies, SF sheriff says 10/31/2011 SF Examiner
This is why you protest through compliance... when the police tell you to leave, you leave. Then come back another day, every day. Occupiers are cannon fodder for other people's interests, other people who risk nothing... who are you following? what are your goals? how do you plan to achieve them?
@menofsin You're right. Breaking the law achieves nothing. Just ask Rosa Parks, MLK, Gandhi, etc.
Protest through compliance? You're joking right? The very nature of a protest is to go against the status quo, not to politely say you disagree and then go home when asked to. Leaving and coming back every day does nothing aside from waste an enormous amount of tax dollars.
1.) The flashbangs are clearly NOT flying in a straight trajectory, nor are they meant to do so.
2.) The flashbang nearly hit the reporter, missing him by half a second. Would not have been good PR for cops.
3.) Notice the one identified in video as firing the flashbang into the group is the only one backing away from the gate, which means most likely that he was scared of the twenty yelling people running toward him &/or he doesn't know how to react in such a situation
@GlennJericho Such a person is going to be more likely to act out of the "fight or flight" natural mechanism (which he clearly did BOTH). The group Anonymous has identified the officer as Scott Bergstresser. I wager all the bragging rights that he's a newbie at crowd control.
He is backing away from the gate, but its clear that the protesters weren't coming towards him at that point. Watch again - there's a solid 9 seconds between when bystanders run towards Scott Olsen and when the policeman fires the flashbang. Also notice that when the flashbang is fired, people are crouched down in a circle around Scott Olsen, not even looking in the direction of the police. There is no way he thought the protesters were coming at him.
The police are generally terrible people, and this type of treatment of innocent people is to be expected in the American society of 2011. They are generally less educated and more mentally challenged than most.
We are the pussies! We are the pussies! We are the pussies! We are the pussies! Its ok police man keep shooting tear gas at us and beat us with your batons! Unlawlfully arrest us for no reason were not gonna take a stand anyway! SMH!
This makes me sick to my stomach. All the best to Scott.

@GlennJericho Regarding your third note:
Thats attempted murder, at that range its virtually point blank range, that cop needs to be found and brought to justice, 20 yrs + in a jail cell.
