First off I am glad your ok.... second .... Great Video..... I am also glad to see someone finally took the hose line off the dude with no PPE on.... I have to say I thought it was him that the may day was for....

I am the firefighter who was injured and the mayday called for. My injury, luckily a minor one, was a fractured ankle, It had nothing to do with "crossing hose lines" or "poor" tactics. I was inside pushing the fire back on first floor, when i entered an area that was fully involved as i moved through the doorway ( i was on nozzle, my chief behind me) the floor went out and i fell into a crawl space. I am Thankful for the fast action of fellow firefighters, my injures could have been far worse.

I want to thank EMTB3839 for posting this video. Let's take his comments to heart: Sure, there is a lot we can critique about how things could have been done better. But let's have that discussion in our own firehouses and training meetings, not in these YouTube comments. Remember, one of their own went down in this incident, so be respectful. Live-fire video like this is too rare. By making this video available to all of us, the responding fire departments have done us a real service.

A lot of computer chair quarterbacking going on here. On the video you can point out obvious things as they apear, but im sure of it that no one that has posted on this video was there. I have been doing this job for a decade now and if there is one thing I have learned, its "If you were not fighting that fire because you were not there, then you have no room to tell the fellow brother how it should be done."

I did the Vol. once upon a time and am a retired pd. ff.- glad to see the PPE in place. And as alway things happen. I found this especially so as a volunteer since you are fighting so many other factors like time, distance, water access, crew location and such. Alot of paid guys in the world have never been in a first run district that may run 5 or 10 miles out down a winding road from the fire house.

I really liked the helmet cam deal. That is high tech to me. give more info on the head cam

Please lets keep the comments positive, I understand that some of the people commenting here are professional firefighters and i agree that the whole operation could have been better for everyone, However I hope just by watching this video people are able to learn from their mistakes and see what to do and what not to do.

As a former firefighter and Southern Maryland Resident I am amazed that ALL firefighters did not have their SCBA and PPE Gear... SAFETY FIRST !!

Hope the injured fireman is doing well. And I hope everyone that was at this fire will learn from the mistakes that were made and be able to improve on their firefighting efforts for the next time. .

Great training video. Opposing hose lines almost always end with a guy going to the hospital, and its usually the one on the inside taking a beating.

Can't help but notice no one managed to mention that they got lost trying to find the place took over 20 minutes to get there and then couldn't get any water to work. other than that good job and sure am praying for the FFs that were injured.
