  • The Stolen Earth was a huge cliffhanger for fans because by the time it aired, everyone already knew he was leaving.

  • THe daleks only downfall, they shout extermionate bout 50 times then fire.

  • Other memorable cliffhangers were Inferno Ep 6, Robot Pt 2, Genesis of The Daleks Pts 2 & 5, Terror of The Zygons Pt 1, The Seeds of Doom Pts 3 & 5, The Monster of Peladon Part 1, The Daemons Part 4, The Pyramids of Mars Pts 1, 2 & 3, The Talons of Weng Chiang Pt 3, Revenge of The Cybermen Pts 1 & 2, The Hand of Fear Pt 2, The Leisure Hive Pts 1 & 2, The Keeper of Traken Pt 4, Kinda Pt 3, Snakedance Pt 1, The King's Demons Pt 1, Warriors of The Deep Pt 1, The Awakening Pt 1, Planet of Fire Pt 1

  • I would have included the cliffhanger from The Deadly Assassin Part 3 as the best one and also the cliffhanger from The Masque of Mandragora Part 3 as the most memorable one!

  • when my freind saw the tenth doctor regenerate the first time he was looking forward to seeing the next doctor but when he sent it to his hand he was a bit upsert but happy to keep david tennanet

  • the end of time cliffhanger was good, but i haven't seen any classic dr who and dont know what cliffhangers there were

  • The "Destiny of the Daleks" cliffhanger to the first part was a very good one as well. Your surprised by the Daleks bursting in the room, and some suspense is surely added because Romana was trapped there and you don't know what was going to happen to her, and the scene just cuts to her look of panic.

  • I like how Jack was just like 'here we go' when he started regenerating.

  • I always liked The Invasion cliffhanger in which the Cybermen burst out of the sewers and marched down the steps from St. Paul Cathedral. I forget which episode that was.

  • @NeoDMC and also don't forget radiation poisoning can take years to kill somebody....

  • Yeah Stolen Earth pissed me off. The hand thing was getting old way before then, I mean they could have used it as a plot device for The Master using the Tardis or something, but w/e. It wasn't as bad as Tennant taking 30 mins to regenerate at the end of "The End of Time".

  • @NeoDMC It took that long bc the Doctor wanted to visit all of his old companions. He later said he was proud of what became of them.

It's been already established that a Time Lord can delay or negate regeneration in his own body when the Master refused to regenerate in Last of the Time Lords.

  • @YahiroYamaha And in Caves of Androzani aswell.

  • My favourite cliffhanger is Talons of Weng Chiang part 3 - you think Leela will escape the giant rat but she doesn't - it catches her and she lets out that chilling scream of agony. 2nd favourite is Inferno part 6 - one cliffhanger where they don't escape alive

  • Good list, but the "Caves" cliffhanger will always be the best in my mind. 30 seconds of pure intensity, drama, horror, and emotion...Davison's finest performance, and best performance of the series.

  • didnt they remake the andriods in the episode the girl who waited?

  • I think the best is the Deadly Assassin Part 3, the Doctor is almost drowned. I remember it was horrifying for children throughout the UK. It recieved speculation from critics.

  • Actually if you think about it The Tenth Planet cliffhanger makes a lot of sense. This was the first regeneration episode EVER the fans didn't know what was

happening at all. Why did The Doctor just change into a younger men? Their had to wait for the next episode to found out.

  • I actually think you should have used the cliffhanger from Turn Left instead of The Stolen Earth since it is just a dat bit more powerfull then the one you used.Or the awsome cliffhanger from Army of ghosts,or the one from The empry child or Silence in the library.

  • i have to disagree about how the resolution to stolen earth cliffhanger was atrocious. i really enjoyed it bc if u think about it thats the only real way they could have gotten out of that

  • @nymetsfan9121 Apart from actually having a new doctor?

  • @KingOfPuroresu no because i dont think thats ever happend half way through an episode/serial

  • @jampox101 Maybe, but climax of the Caves of Androzani serial featured Peter Davison regenerating into Colin Baker, and there was one more serial left in the series. So it's not entirely unfeasible that a new doctor could appear before the series has ended.

  • @KingOfPuroresu yes but it was not half way through caves of androzani

  • @jampox101 So it would actually have been unprecedented and original, adding a great layer of drama to the story.

  • 1. Is The Caves of Androzani by a running mile!!! I don't know how you could rate any of these others higher than it!

  • in my opinion utopia is the best ever

  • it has got to be the pandorica i mean who could actually know what's going to happen it is just pure genius

  • Lovely graphics at 2:20

  • #4 I think is the second most dramatic moment in the New Series (cause those are the only episodes I've seen)

  • @kiddcrazy100 That's your opinion. Personally I think there are some excellent serials from the classic series that still hold up today, if not on budgetary terms. Like Spearhead From Space, Genesis of the Daleks and Earthshock.

  • @kiddcrazy100 doctor who got good back in the 60s which is why the show made it till now, dumbass.

  • Comment removed

  • @kiddcrazy100 you weren't stating your opinion, according to you comment you where tellin the "cold truth" so i replied with the real truth, dumbass.

  • What about the first appearance of the Daleks? That cliffhanger pretty much made Doctor Who.

  • What about when the Daleks came out of the Sphere at the end of 'Army of Ghosts' in 2006?! D: THAT WAS BRILLIANT!!!

  • The cliffhanger that actually made me go even more bonkers for doctor who was the episode before a good man goes to war with amy about to give birth. After that, i never saw doctor who the same again, because it was more awsome than ever before!

  • The cliffhanger from Remembrance of the Daleks is amazing just because Seven's face is screaming "SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT SHIT"

  • Dude, what about Davros torturing the Doctor, Sarah Jane, and Harry in "Genesis of the Daleks"? Trying pump them for future information about the Daleks screaming "YOU WILL TELL ME! YOU WILL TELL MEEEEE!!" I still get chills just thinking about it.

  • All excellent choices :~)

  • Pretty good cliffhangers, especially number 1, it was the all important first ever regeneartion, my cliffhanger would be my first recall of Doctor Who where the Daleks come crashing through the wall at Romana in Destiny of the Daleks

  • I fully agree with number 1 here. Especially considering if they didn't know the Doctor could regenerate.

  • 1.40 sounds like he just earned a PS3 trophy

  • my best is a good man goes to war & the almost people

  • @RYANarcade oh yeah,the River cliffhanger is,well,just wow! lol ;)

  • what about the mind of evil one, with the gunshot?

  • the best is easily the almost people

  • The Pirate Planet with Tom Baker (when the Captain pushed him off the plank would have been the best).

  • what's all the hype about the "earthshock" one, was it just the simple fact that we hadnt seen the cybermen in so long?

  • @jhibbitt1 Yes and read the description.

  • my fav cliff hanger was army of ghosts when the daleks amerge from the sphere

  • "The Tenth Planet" doesn't even really need to be that. The Ninth would be just fine :)

  • 4 would have be epice if he did change into the 11th

  • u just had 2 get that TO BE CONTINUED in the vid... thanks

  • i think the bad wolf woulda been one

  • i agree on them all but not in that order. caves part 3 should be number 1 for three reasons:

    1) its not the best but it is so intense that you really want to see what happens next

    2) its very well written and helps in making you want to see it

    3) It is one of the best but the other 2 make it the best, so long the greatest doctor who ever lived, he had the best regeneration story as well, and best of all time

  • is just me or does peter davson l look like matt smith

  • @CPTTAYLOR592 Perhaps. They were pretty much the same age when they started Doctor Who. Peter was only older by a few months when he started.

  • #2 is a winner - the first time Dalek's could hover and no longer have to worry about stairs came a big evolution in Dalek capabilities after 35 years. Scared the shit out of me at the time! :D

  • Also, this is the list on Youtube that i'd most agree with. Well Done.

  • Caves part 3 is a GREAT choice!!!! It's my favorite.

  • Ooo right in the cunt 3:25

  • Did the doctor lose a regeneration?i mean,he*SPOILERWARNING* put all his regeneration energy into his "handy spare hand" after repairing his body,so it stopped the body change

  • @MASTERLINKXLZYX Silly isnt it? Apparently sending it into the hand saved him from regenerating so no he didn't lose one. Seriously though, shooting it into the hand, maybe William Hartnell could have kept all his toenail clippings in a jar and he'd still be the Doctor now.

  • @KingOfPuroresu yes but he was a different man back then ;)

  • @MASTERLINKXLZYX he was still regenerating when it happened

  • @MASTERLINKXLZYX never mind sorry

  • hahaha the old cyberman look like crap it's tinfoil and a mask XD

  • @hipposandaardvarks29 That's cheapo 80s BBC budget for you

  • @hipposandaardvarks29 I think they were amazing... much better than the Tom Baker ones... they're excellent in Earthshock... I can see why they scared the kids shitless. xD

  • @hipposandaardvarks29 ¬.¬ wow some people. Oh well the new ones are crap to; boring design, stupid catchphrase and definitely not scary.

  • @JackWolf10 Haha, yeah "delete" got old very fast for me too

  • @hipposandaardvarks29 nah they look good, and you must not be a true fan to say that. even tho they aren't the moist modern looking cybermen they do look the best to me and you forget about ti weh nwatching the episode which you haven't coz obviously your not a true dr who fan

  • One of y favorite is at the end of 'Turn Left' Where you see he bad wolf signes everywhere again...awesome.

  • i'd certainly have the utopia cliffhanger in there too. from the music, to the scene, everything in that episode was perfect. the thing was, noone knew the master was going to be in that episode. for the first in a hell of a long time, it was a genuine surprise...

  • @tmofee It was far superior to the Stolen Earth

  • I reckon the best cliffhanger ever was The Tomb of The Cybermen, when the cybercontroller emerges and says something like- "YOU BELONG TO US. YOU WILL BECOME LIKE US". Sends shivers down my spine every time.

  • imo, best cliffhanger was at the end of Army of Ghosts, when the Daleks arrived. So unexpected and exciting!

  • That 2008 regeneration... I thought that the next episode would start with a new Doctor for sure... was I ultimately surprised!!

  • i tink that clifff of thnges was the best

  • How is Death to the Daleks part 3 not on here?!...Oh yeah...It was naff..xD

  • Actually, I thought that Doctor Who's greatest cliff hanger yet, was Pandorica Opens ending, but this video was probably made before it was brodcasted

  • @Suerocks11 No, this video was made 22 days after it was broadcasted. And, yeah, that was the biggest cliffhanger for me too

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW *SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT* It was a good episode but the cliffhanger didn't grip me especially. I had an inkling, which was confirmed five minutes into the episode, that the Pandorica was the Doctor's prison, and once he was put in there I knew he was going to get out because we still had one more episode left in the series and I was still cynical after the Stolen Earth. *SPOILERS IN THIS COMMENT*

  • @KingOfPuroresu There's no need to put spoiler warnings on it, i have seen the ep

  • @slightlyinsaneFTW Someone else may not have.

  • @KingOfPuroresu oh, right, okay

  • what about genesis of the daleks when sarah falls into the freeze frame?

  • I'VE BEEN THERE!!

I have been to the place where the Doctor was shot by that Dalek in the Stolen Earth!!

  • @Icestar663 WHERE WAS IT, um.... please?

  • @Suerocks11 it was in Monmouth outside Iceland! :D

  • I Think The End Of Time (Part 1) Should Be In There But Apart From That I Agree!

  • the 2008 regeneration was soooo weird. he didn't even regenerate. kinda a cheap shot in my opinion. still, a good cliffhanger.

  • @TheKtdid10 at least they held of matt for the longest they good

  • I thought there was only low-quality footage of the Doctor's first regeneration.
