It had a whole roller coaster of notes!

@missbsk517 I agree.It bugs me when people say its so obvious she's lip synching its U can't tell from a video,or on live TV, esp satelite.Obviously on TV sound + vision are recorded seperately then mixed together, the dubber could be a millisecond out +'experts' would say she lip-synched. Also light and sound travel at different speeds so if a live performance is having to go to a satelite and back that may only take 1 sec,but it can make a difference. Jeez.Just accept she's super talented :-)

@missbsk517 I agree.It bugs me when people say its so obvious she's lip synching its U can't tell from a video,or on live TV, esp satelite.Obviously on TV sound + vision are recorded seperately then mixed together, the dubber could be a millisecond out +'experts' would say she lip-synched. Also light and sound travel at different speeds so if a live performance is having to go to a satelite and back that may only take 1 sec,but it can make a difference. Jeez.Just accept she's super talented :-)

who dare compare this to whitneys 1991 version, WHITNEY¨s version is way far better than mariah´s. Whitney stands in front of the mike and really sings and apparently enjoys singing, she has freshness and power. She doesnt over do as mariah does.

Mariah did very well, but I don't think it can top Whitney's. Whitney was not dolled up, in a pair of sweats with a bandana, it was all about the anthem and the country. Very powerful and little embellishment. After Whitney though, it's got to be Mariah.

I don't like this simply because she sings the song like it was an actual R&B song. She has a beautiful voice, don't get me wrong. But, its a traditional song. Sing it traditionally!

I, personally, didn't care for how she sang the word "free" towards the end. A little too much "show" for me. But regardless, she's still a very talented singer and unlike some other singers, she was able to keep her nerves in check and remember the lyrics.

This shows Carey has no musicianship whatsoever, shame on you Ms. Carey and to all lip synch performers who CAN'T achieve a true live performance. The best LIVE Superbowl National Anthem performance goes to CARRIE UNDERWOOD, now that's a true performer, number 2 goes to Aguilera, she may have messed up, but she and Underwood are the only 2 singers to have managed a real LIVE performance in a SB, not a crappy lip synch like this one.

@beyoncerox1 Actually Mariah sings a million times better than Beyonce does, I understand that you are a huge Beyonce fan, I like her too but I looooove Mariah and I am here to say that she does sing better and she nailed this song. Beyonce nailed her version also. I honestly think that Mariah and Beyonce sang it the best, yes, even better than Whitney Houston did. In this order though, Beyonce's version was the best and then Mariah's version was the 2nd best.
