Who the hell ever told this kid he could sing...or play? Simon Cowell where are you when we need you? Come on people, did you skip music class? It's called harmony, pitch, and KEY! This is truly pathetic.
i love bright eyes ;_; i love the impurity, the imperfection, the raspy sorrowful meaningful beautiful voice conor was gifted with. never have i heard such empathetic lyrics and such meaning in some ones voice..... and then theres justin beiber ._. *sigh*
this song is so amazingly beautiful and moving. and the passion he shows and what you can just hear in his voice literally gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it. this is art, talent, poetry, and passion all at its best. he is a gorgeous man and his music is simply marvelous. if you can't relate to this song in some way then you're not human.
I've been modeling most of my music around the sounds Oberst and Mogis masterfully create. They're simply amazing.
If any of you have a moment, I'd be interested to hear what others think of my music. I have a new music video up on my channel. Let me know what you think!
@charlieandthatboy A song doesn't require a chorus - or often conventional structure. It's perfectly okay that you don't like it. Apples and oranges, that type of thing. :)
@futoncat actually on the record it is kind of like that, it has him and the chic he's singing with talking in the backround and it's like they're in a car, and you can subtly hear the sound of the engine and the other cars on the street and stuff. just gives it that much more character i think
Mystic Valley Band appears to be splitting up after the end of the tour they are currently on (watch the end of the documentary "One of My Kind."
Currently, Oberst, Mike Mogis, Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), and M. Ward have started a band called Monsters of Folk. The release is set for september 22nd.
It appears that Bright Eyes will resume after that record is put out...
There does appear to be some truth to it. There's a site up for Monsters Of Folk, and I downloaded a live show with all of those guys in it not too long ago. I don't know when it was recorded, but all of them were in it. Conor played At The Bottom Of Everything, Seashell Tale, and Laura Laurent. And they all did a few covers from Dylan and Willie Nelson.
They all have played together in the past so there's credibility to it.
It seems like Conor's need to always do something new and fresh.
i think he is making one last bright eyes album, what i love is that no matter what he calls the project its still just as good, as long as its him i guess
I realized that I'll never be able to see him perform any of these his sorrowful songs because he's now making happy music with the Mystic Valley Band.
Ironic isn't it.. that my pleasure always came from his sorrow. And now my sorrow is coming from his pleasure.
Yes, that's exactly how I feel, accept that I have seen Bright Eyes three times...But now It;s all over...Let's hope for a reunion, because they never said anything about them breaking up or something...So Bright Eyes still exists (Otherwise at least in our hearts)
I didn't realize other people felt the same way! Though I guess I probably should have..
I do really like the new music, it's just that the emotion behind Bright Eyes is so tremendous and much more introspective. I just can't connect to MVB as well. :[
Still though, I'm happy for Conor. He deserves to be happy. :D
Hehe, I saw him in september in Amsterdam and he explained that he had a sylliva problem. There we're some very unlucky people in the front row gettin sprayed on. I guess he already had this in the lifted-era. Anyway, this is just a pure, straight-up genius at work, right here.
just a f-in bad ass song.. the dude has such a way with words that makes me feel his message. its incredible, and both indescribable at the same time.
we each create our own destiny and while we all try to understand what we're here for we forget that it is our own actions that designate what we "are." There is no physical source of true comfort. True comfort stems from embracing an inner light and accepting how deserving each individual is of extraordinary self love.
actually the lyrics are very realistic. Instead of "oh im so much prettier than you.. DOn't you wish your gf was hot like me." this lyrics actually hold value.
what is the sense in not being able to embed this? you're not going to "lose any money" or anything, and it actually would spread the message of this song further if embedding was possible.
omgomgomgomg beautiful! He makes sorrow look sexy. so pure and raw and 0000000 wow! i love this man!!!!!! i think he's the only person who speaks truth...well as close to the truth as we can understand!!!!!! GENIUS!
well perhaps the equalization with his voic and guitar was a bit off and he was signaling to the tech guy to adjust the volumes. i've seen that at shows.
yeah, the dude can make even the most worn out progressions come back to life with such intensity. Im a huge fan of his, and Mogis, too. I wish i could get my lame ass on Saddle Creek. but I suck. too bad being a full time dreamer(with TONS of overtime) doesn't pay the bills.
what can I say.. this is like the greatest one ever. from this moment I have to watch this one every time I´m at the computer. probably the most beautiful somg ever... this one and of course waste of paint, arienette, the calendar hung itself and loose leaves. this list goes on and on.. acctually the one song I don´t like with conor is "emely sing something sweet".. everything else... from the age of 13 and forward.. amaziiiiing!!! / his biggest fan.. no doubt about that
wow he's so real with himself. if you look close hes about to cry. I love him for his creativity and how he never hides what he's feeling. that is a true man. that and missionaries. give up everything to teach the word of god. both good people
Jesus, that was just as scary as I thought it was going to be. I loved it though. And why can't everyone in the crowd just shut the fuck up? Come on, he looked so pissed.
I've been listening to conor for awhile and his songs are all strongly blues and country oriented. I mean disregarding his voice. its amazing that something so disregarded in youth is getting a modern uplift.

; ;!! He is the closet thing to perfect there will ever be. I think he is trying not to cry when he is singing this song. You can tell it looks like he is just imaging someone that he is singing it to. His eyes never shift from the part of the room that he is staring at.
bright eyes always makes me think wow, he's so talented. i love this song. it's really well recorded. does anybody else notice that it looks like he's about to cry, maybe a few tears welling?
Who the hell ever told this kid he could sing...or play? Simon Cowell where are you when we need you? Come on people, did you skip music class? It's called harmony, pitch, and KEY! This is truly pathetic.

; ;!! He is the closet thing to perfect there will ever be. I think he is trying not to cry when he is singing this song. You can tell it looks like he is just imaging someone that he is singing it to. His eyes never shift from the part of the room that he is staring at.
