  • Who the hell ever told this kid he could sing...or play? Simon Cowell where are you when we need you? Come on people, did you skip music class? It's called harmony, pitch, and KEY! This is truly pathetic.

  • amazing

  • literally perfect

  • i love bright eyes ;_; i love the impurity, the imperfection, the raspy sorrowful meaningful beautiful voice conor was gifted with. never have i heard such empathetic lyrics and such meaning in some ones voice..... and then theres justin beiber ._. *sigh*

  • There are a lot of subtle attacks on Christianity and anyone who assumes that they have the answers to all of the universes biggest concepts.

  • this song is so amazingly beautiful and moving. and the passion he shows and what you can just hear in his voice literally gives me goosebumps everytime i hear it. this is art, talent, poetry, and passion all at its best. he is a gorgeous man and his music is simply marvelous. if you can't relate to this song in some way then you're not human.

  • The crowd needs to shut it. >> How can you not sit in silence at the beauty and passion in his voice?

  • It's not about music it's about relativity. And this song is so fucking relevant WOOOoO I love you conor!

  • @charlieandthatboy And that question, sir, is what makes it great art.

  • wow this kid cant play the guitar nor can he sing , how does he get so many great comments ? wheres the chorus ? wheres the melody at ?

  • @charlieandthatboy A song doesn't require a chorus - or often conventional structure. It's perfectly okay that you don't like it. Apples and oranges, that type of thing. :)

  • @evanisovich but evean this is like SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE SKETCH i mean cmon man may i show you a few songs to listen to ?

  • @charlieandthatboy That won't be necessary. I do like that you dig King's X, though. Did you ever get into Tres Mts?

  • @charlieandthatboy wow, i guess you just can't see beyond the music... fuck off, bieber fans...

  • wow this kid cant play the guitar nor can he sing , how does he get so many great comments ?

  • Love how people are like talking in the background in the beginning but by the end it's dead quiet..

  • I was turned on to this by a fellow songwriter....this is excellent!

  • I wonder how it'd feel to make eye contact with him while he's playing... he's so intense.

  • @Garthi14 i think i was ejaculate right then and there.

  • this song is ferocious

  • im jealous of the person who took this video

  • i love this video so much.

  • Good God. That last 20 seconds just rip the hairs clean out of the back of my neck - goosebumps are an understatement!

  • how old is this?

    ah, you're very lucky.

    nice moment in histroy

  • he played this the other night in omaha and dedicated it to todd fink

  • wow

  • Great..

Conor's one of the most talented songwriters of our times..

  • without watching the video, it sounds like something he would put on a record. how it has the hushed crowd behind it..

    maybe i'm just being weird

  • no i totally agree, now that i think about it.

  • I concur brother. :]

  • @futoncat actually on the record it is kind of like that, it has him and the chic he's singing with talking in the backround and it's like they're in a car, and you can subtly hear the sound of the engine and the other cars on the street and stuff. just gives it that much more character i think

  • @futoncat actually that's kind of exactly how it sounds on the record

  • I like it so much.. Sore.

  • Mystic Valley Band appears to be splitting up after the end of the tour they are currently on (watch the end of the documentary "One of My Kind."

Currently, Oberst, Mike Mogis, Jim James (of My Morning Jacket), and M. Ward have started a band called Monsters of Folk. The release is set for september 22nd.

It appears that Bright Eyes will resume after that record is put out...

  • Oh lawdy do I hope you're correct. I've heard about Monsters of Folk, but nothing about MVB breaking up, or Bright Eyes resuming.

  • There does appear to be some truth to it. There's a site up for Monsters Of Folk, and I downloaded a live show with all of those guys in it not too long ago. I don't know when it was recorded, but all of them were in it. Conor played At The Bottom Of Everything, Seashell Tale, and Laura Laurent. And they all did a few covers from Dylan and Willie Nelson.

They all have played together in the past so there's credibility to it.

It seems like Conor's need to always do something new and fresh.

  • i think he is making one last bright eyes album, what i love is that no matter what he calls the project its still just as good, as long as its him i guess

  • ..why thumbs down? he's right.. ^^^^

  • stutter much?

  • I'm so sad.

I realized that I'll never be able to see him perform any of these his sorrowful songs because he's now making happy music with the Mystic Valley Band.

Ironic isn't it.. that my pleasure always came from his sorrow. And now my sorrow is coming from his pleasure.

  • Yes, that's exactly how I feel, accept that I have seen Bright Eyes three times...But now It;s all over...Let's hope for a reunion, because they never said anything about them breaking up or something...So Bright Eyes still exists (Otherwise at least in our hearts)

  • hopefully I'll get to see the band real soon :]

  • I didn't realize other people felt the same way! Though I guess I probably should have..

I do really like the new music, it's just that the emotion behind Bright Eyes is so tremendous and much more introspective. I just can't connect to MVB as well. :[

Still though, I'm happy for Conor. He deserves to be happy. :D

  • That's exactly how I feel.

    I want Bright Eyes.

    But the band is acceptable.

    Also, you are cute. :3

  • You all realise that bright eyes are still together and are recording a new album at the minute don't you?!?!

  • WHAT

  • yup!

  • where did you find this information

  • lol well they've never said they're splitting up for one,

number two they've just recorded and released a single for charity,

number three i read they were in the studio now...

  • they don't have to say they are, the only two consistent members are Conor and Mike

who knows how long ago that was, Dark Was The Night has a lot of artists, they could have been compiling it for upwards a year

    where?

  • ok man nevermind.

  • you lie. whats it called? and whens it due?

  • @2012itbeggins you're a fag

  • ..perhaps a little too intense, but i like the message...

  • Thank you.

  • lol he's sitting down and has his eye open yet its still amazing

  • i love it.

you can really tell that he means what he's singing about.

  • I love this so much.

Does anyone know if he played this live frequently or not?

  • no he doesn't

  • Hehe, I saw him in september in Amsterdam and he explained that he had a sylliva problem. There we're some very unlucky people in the front row gettin sprayed on. I guess he already had this in the lifted-era. Anyway, this is just a pure, straight-up genius at work, right here.

  • yeah a friend of mine met him and said he spat all over him (not on purpose like) he said it was pretty bad but he was very apologetic...

  • really?!?!? i've met him like 4 times and have never ever noticed...so I don't know...

is there even such a thing as a saliva problem, of such sorts?!?!

  • this is amazing. thank you.

  • aaahw he's so young there, when did you film this?

    i just love the ending.

thank you so much for posting the video!<3

  • i just saw him last saturday here in omaha...

    hes still got it ;)

    it was amazing.

  • He looks like he's possibly spotted a Pygmy Marmoset on an audience member's head. 'tis purist of genius tho.

  • hahahahahahahahahaha

  • just a f-in bad ass song.. the dude has such a way with words that makes me feel his message. its incredible, and both indescribable at the same time.

  • at what is he looking periodically during the song? haha

  • very nice quality video... excellent song

  • fucking genius. i love it!!!!!

  • thanks 4 posting this is amazing. id love to hear this song live.

  • Amazing, when we get married

you'll be in our wedding xD

  • this video is fuckin amazing

    conor is a fuckin god

    that ending is the best

the flippin out is the best part

  • i love you

  • oh my, is that drool on his chin in the end?

anyways, this is one of his best songs and it is also and excellent performance. im speechless

  • yah i thinks it is drool

    LOL

  • im sure that guy with the crap comment likes hinder and buckcherry

  • we each create our own destiny and while we all try to understand what we're here for we forget that it is our own actions that designate what we "are." There is no physical source of true comfort. True comfort stems from embracing an inner light and accepting how deserving each individual is of extraordinary self love.

  • actually the lyrics are very realistic. Instead of "oh im so much prettier than you.. DOn't you wish your gf was hot like me." this lyrics actually hold value.

  • Your just a fucking loser with to much time on your hands, and I did thumbs down.

  • And what do you listen to, Creed?

  • excellent job filming this!!

  • Phenomenal song of almost unequaled intensity and passion - truly moving.

  • i wish i could have been there. conor and bright eyes are simply amazing. i love this song.

  • Very, very beautiful. I understand you tearing up watching this. Must have been a great experience.

  • underground, over mountains, through forests desserts and cities!!!

  • play back the stuff after he says "now i send you all this message in code" backwards, he says "see thisss"

  • what is the sense in not being able to embed this? you're not going to "lose any money" or anything, and it actually would spread the message of this song further if embedding was possible.

  • he reminds me of tom petty

  • omgomgomgomg beautiful! He makes sorrow look sexy. so pure and raw and 0000000 wow! i love this man!!!!!! i think he's the only person who speaks truth...well as close to the truth as we can understand!!!!!! GENIUS!

  • perfect like everyone has said already

  • this is so so good.

i can't seem to get the video on my ipod for some reason though...

  • He looks like hes going to cry.

    beautiful man.

  • Awesome.

  • I noticed that he seems to be gesturing to his head with whoever he is staring at, at 4:29 he seems to gesture to the left, and then nods.

I dont know, maybe he's telling someone to meet him backstage after the show, or he's just expressing himself

  • yeah i noticed that, nice observation but i know what its like when your up there and i dont think he would be able to see much of the audience. :(

  • well perhaps the equalization with his voic and guitar was a bit off and he was signaling to the tech guy to adjust the volumes. i've seen that at shows.

  • raw emotion caught on video i love it, hes much more humble now though

  • Possibly one of my favourite live videos of Conor. At the end, he was about to turn into the Hulk, or something crazy, haha.

  • i love how he can put so much emotion and feeling into his voice but still make it sound good.

  • wonder who he's staring at. theyre lucky

  • i love the look on his face when he sings "i like singin!" he just looks so manic

  • he actually looks young in this vid

  • yeah, the dude can make even the most worn out progressions come back to life with such intensity. Im a huge fan of his, and Mogis, too. I wish i could get my lame ass on Saddle Creek. but I suck. too bad being a full time dreamer(with TONS of overtime) doesn't pay the bills.

  • what can I say.. this is like the greatest one ever. from this moment I have to watch this one every time I´m at the computer. probably the most beautiful somg ever... this one and of course waste of paint, arienette, the calendar hung itself and loose leaves. this list goes on and on.. acctually the one song I don´t like with conor is "emely sing something sweet".. everything else... from the age of 13 and forward.. amaziiiiing!!! / his biggest fan.. no doubt about that

  • he's so perfect

  • a lifetimes one moment and wishing will only leave you empty

  • amazing

  • this is fantastic.

sneakyxllama, you're an idiot. this isn't about god. this is about music. dont drag religion into this.

  • sorry jp, but you sir are the idiot. did you not catch ANY of the religious references? how about :

"don't go blaming your knowledge on some fruit you ate"

or his reference to his mom on her knees (praying) but him standing up.

he actually has lots of religious connotations in his music

this song is about how "the picture is far too big to look at" and we will never understand the truth of this life or the afterlife

  • alright calm down! this song is incredible, nice one

    peace

  • OMG i love this video! thanks for posting

  • chillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschillschills

  • this is the best. this dude teaches me and he knows what i am going through ahead of time.

  • This is my favorite video on this whole site. Thanks so much !!

  • wow he's so real with himself. if you look close hes about to cry. I love him for his creativity and how he never hides what he's feeling. that is a true man. that and missionaries. give up everything to teach the word of god. both good people

  • I miss that conor. :[

  • God.

  • thanks for putting this up. i love this song.

  • wow i think everyone in the crowd is singing too...yea he looks pissed lol. I swear he was gonna throw his guitar at someone

  • Jesus, that was just as scary as I thought it was going to be. I loved it though. And why can't everyone in the crowd just shut the fuck up? Come on, he looked so pissed.

  • thank you for uploading this. SHIT OWNZ

  • Awesome video...

    Conor is amazing.

  • this scares me in a good way.

  • all of it gives me chills.

  • I've been listening to conor for awhile and his songs are all strongly blues and country oriented. I mean disregarding his voice. its amazing that something so disregarded in youth is getting a modern uplift.

  • the end always gives me the chills

  • he looks like hes gonna cry.

i want him to be happy.

  • that must have been quite the experience, seeing Conor in his prime like that. very good.

  • This is where its at.

  • amazing quality. thank you for this.

  • please enable embedding. dont be selfish. 99% of vids on here enable it... no reason not to! dont be greedy.

  • gay for conor oberst.

  • He's seriously the only dude I've ever had a man crush on.

  • haha me to

  • me 4

  • godd. this song. conor. why does he have to be so talented?

  • tortured artist. melencholy poet. frgmented soul. to witness such wonder. in person. to experience. in twenty days. twenty of them. to wait. to stare in awe. in wonder. to feel the deflected mist of genius. spill over my escence. baptise me in such vacancy. such fullness. such absent completion. to be reborn...why wait twenty days? why not nineteen?

  • what is that from, i like it

  • oh. thats just me. rambling.

  • The album is called "Lifted The Story Is In The Soil Keep Your Ear To The Ground" And the songs is called "Big Picture" It's my favorite album of his I've heard but I only have three of them.

  • that's why he refers to his work as poetry.

  • his expression is so intense. it gave me chills, i can't imagine seeing him live.

  • i dont know...i cant c wats so great about it..emotionally - good but..for that i rather hear a poem

  • anybody notice that he's actually opening his eyes

  • I used to lovet this song now it's my favourite.

  • great song but this isnt one of his best shows

  • He looks so little. what year was this? '06?

  • look at hiiiim

  • Oh my god. He looks mentally ill.. Still fantastic!

  • o shit yea....awesome touching song really moves my mind

  • its a shame the version on the album is drowned out and not just like this

  • Emotion, feelings, blah blah blah. This boy is simply a bucket full of stage presence.

    A big bucket.

I would say that this performance is genuinely emotional except for the fact that he's motioning to the sound guy to give him a little more on the left during one of the most moving verses of the song.

This guy has you in his pocketttttt

  • i like being in his pocket.

  • I used to skip this track because the intro is so long but Im glad I clicked this cause now it's my fav :)

This is one of the best Conor videos on here. I love how he's so into it.

  • that's so, so amazing...i just don't know what to say...

  • It's obvious he was fighting his own demons then, he knew it. It was his way of reaching out....I believe. Such soul, I just wish I could see him live, in pittsburgh, please come back.

  • I've seen him perform that song a handful of times, and he matches that intensity each time. THAT'S CRAZY! Some songs just mean something to him I guess!

  • aweh i love connor you can tell he realy ingraves his feelings and emotions into his songs

this song made me tear up it even made my lip quiver

    reminded me of my dad

    thx for this video

  • ; ;!! He is the closet thing to perfect there will ever be. I think he is trying not to cry when he is singing this song. You can tell it looks like he is just imaging someone that he is singing it to. His eyes never shift from the part of the room that he is staring at.

  • the part when he screams at the end rules!

  • i found a bootleg for this very same show! e-mail me for info lips98@hotmail.co.uk

  • Thanks

  • I think there is more than just alcohol :)

  • was he crying? when was this filmed?

  • bright eyes always makes me think wow, he's so talented. i love this song. it's really well recorded. does anybody else notice that it looks like he's about to cry, maybe a few tears welling?

  • No, his eyes are just glazed over from all the Alcohol.

  • thank you

  • fantastic video! may I ask what the title of the song is here?

  • im sorry, im super bad with song titles. if anyone knows, ill post it.

  • "The Big Picture"

  • It's great!! Thanks!

  • If you have anymore from this show please post them. Amazing quality. Good Job!

  • i love this song, thanks for recording it!

  • This is the single best audiance-recorded Bright Eyes vid I've ever seen. Perfect. Thanks so much for sharing it:-)

  • sweet. thanks!

  • That's beautiful <333 I love that song. What year was this?
