  • That last note piz cue is genius, Abbado! :)

  • the bests with the best playing the best! This is the best!

  • Does anyone have an idea which orchestra Abbado is conducting? They're magnificent, of course, under his baton!

THANK YOU, KillNoPsych for posting this beautiful work of Mahler's! I really wanted to see it conducted by Claudio Abbado, who genuinely knows how to sensitively interpret Mahler's works. BRAVO!

  • @offyougonow1007 That's the Lucerne Festival Orchestra! In my opinion one of the best orchestras worldwide.

  • Up to 07:42 heaven is open!!

  • Such a mensch! And love the wooden flutes. A magnificent performance of one of Mahler's greatest adagios.

  • @attheHermitage andante moderato

  • danke an sonen kanal wie arte, der so was noch bringt

  • So fantastically beautiful, I love this entire symphony

  • What an orchestrator . . . you have doublings and contrapuntal line blends in those winds that are the exact sublime color of the emotions themselves. Direct, like an interpreter who doesn't even have to think before going from one language to another.

  • aber, bitte: erst Scherzo, denn Andante. Bitte....

  • @marcap1000 Es ist mir auch fremd, zu finden die Andante in zweiten Stelle . . . aber die Frage is vielleicht nicht einfach. Entschuldigen Sie, was ich muss weiter auf English . . . this is the most "symphonic" of the symphonies, and the "fast-slow-fast-fast" order makes the same kind of formal sense as among the classic composers. But the emotional order does seem to need the release (and the breathing time) of the sublime slow movement ending before the tragic-heroic race of the finale.

  • @marcap1000

  • It'a a kind of magic

  • What kind of cue was that for the last note?

  • Comment removed

  • @jacobflaschen

    It was a release.

  • @jacobflaschen Whatever it was, it was between Abbado and his players, and they understood him perfectly. See his face afterwards, how he loves them for it.

  • Che meraviglia!!!!!
