Yes. As of August 2008 70% of South Ossetians had Russian citizenship mainly because Russia kept offering them it freely. Then when Georgia tried to exert its authority over the area Russia claimed they were attacking Russian citizens. Russia caused the conflict anyway by supporting seperatists who caused the fighting.

The Iraq problem is local warlords. U.S. and other countries wanna leave longa ago. Why get own people killed there. But there is't strong enough local authorities yet. If everybody leave from there overnight there will be a lot of killing and probably new place for terrorist country. Georgia have democratic goverment, civilisation, police etc.

CNN dont lie.The truth is that Georgia attacked terrorists who were de jure in territory of Georgia. No Georgian soldiers were in Russian territory. Should Russia get involved, when American police kills 15 russian mobsters in NY?
Fact is that Georgian army were all the time in Georgian territory, but Russia sent his army to another country. How can anybody tell Georgia attacked Russia. They shot russians only in own territory. And shot back.

No one seems to know that Georgia started this war... Russian peacekeepers were in Ossetia under the UN banner before this mess and Russia made it very clear that they would not just watch by if Georgia decided to move into SO.
Georgia mobilised its troops and made their move. Russia responded as expected and finally got to pay back to NATO, EU and USA for NATO expansion, missile defence in Europe, Kosovo and all the other idiocies we did to piss Russia off.

There was hope when Russians with brain supported Jeltsin.
