@bayleafqween No doubt, often I put this song on *because* I want to groove to that 4+ minute intro. I don't think I'd like the song as much without it. I once heard it live at BC, Canada's Pemberton "Dangerously Disorganized" Music Festival - pretty cool.

and yea it doesn't matter if the intro is too long its still a great song
nd who the hell says that Stairway to Heaven is the only song that can have a long intro you can't own a length of time stupid screw you Runaan...
I love the song. It's beautiful. The intro may be long but i am a loyal fan to the band. It's sorta making me day dream a bit but it sounds wonderful.
Personally, I love the intro. It's like it's getting you ready for what's to come in the song. Like it's adding on to the story of the lyrics, which I don't find creepy at all.
i love the guitar work, and the drumming and piano, but i don't know about the vocals. the lyrics don't seem up to par and the short, constricted singing reminds me a lot of the vocalist of interpol. maybe it's just me, but i would like interpol sooo much better if they had a more fluid singer
Paul Bank's vocals are what distinguish interpol from other bands, its something that grows on you, I like the music best that does not instantly catch, if the parts you don't like, you come to love those parts.
Ben Gibbard's choice of vocals fit the song to his idealist approach to the song as a whole, I think he might have insisted upon the short vocals because the rest of the song is very fluid sounding and a new mash needed to be added in the mix, for better variance perhaps?
Death Cab's said that this album will split its audience, so you're not gonna like this album. I think it'll be their best one though. Real music is nice.
Awesome!!! best thing since Talk Talk with a piano featured....love the vulnerability of the singer's voice, the tight playing and the unhurried development of the song, great playing all around....the unrequited nature of desire is shown and relatable...again, just Awesome!!! a total 10

Is it just me, or is this one of the creepiest songs you've ever listened to? The thrust of the song is basically "I WILL STALK YOU UNTIL YOU LOVE ME AGAIN LOLOLOLOLOL"
There is a radio edit for this if 8 mins is too long for ya, and i don't really see much of a difference between this "new" dcfc and the "old" dcfc people are talking about. New is good anyways, bands that have songs that sound way too similar get boring...
Those piano notes remind me of the ones on Stupid Girl by Garbage that come in towards the end of that song. Pretty similar arrangement. Very hypnotic. I hear a LOT of different elements these guys took from other songs and made them their own. Actually, for me, the super-long intro is the best part of this tune. LOVE the atmospheric guitar work. Awesome build-up and layering. There are a couple of very simple notes and chords that absolutely give me goose bumps all over the place...
I don't know about you, but i think the lyrics are a bit more blunt than previous lyrics, they were clever and subtle, but the lyrics to this song are more in your face, it's a nice change and effect.
Don't get me wrong i like the cleverness too, but the bluntness is effective, like with this song the bass is really thick and straight same for the song, clever lyrics wouldn't work

Still Sounds like Death Cab to me, Dont know why some ppl are saying its different, cuz its really not
Its a Decent Song however I dont think it really fits a Lead Single song if ya know what i mean
Its too long, for one thing 8mins is little too long when standard radio/video edits around 3:30 which goes with human attention span
I wouldnt worry cuz DCFC makes good albums, and this isnt a bad song anyways, but i bet the rest of the album will be killer
