  • It doesn't matter what other countries are like, the american health care is dog shit.

  • Boo! Such idioticy in making this "disproving" video. "Why should we believe Cuba government?" Why should you believe the oppositor in Cuba, who are a handful and very biased, most of them family of the old cuban mafia that today lives in Miami (who were enabled by dictator Batista) and are KNOWN to manipulate information and sprout propaganda with little truth in it. Again, want to make a true-to-fact disproving video, go to fucking Cuba people...

  • Ah you are quite the douchebag. Those images of cuban hospitals are fake, you can google them. Best health systems in American are Canada's and Cuba's, no dispute. Listen, if you don't believe Michael Moore's movie so much, why don't you go to Cuba yourself? C'mon, I dare you. I'm Latinoamerican, my brother goes to Cuban almost every year and there's no Castro pointing at you with a gun.

Btw, free health and free compulsory education is also a rule in my country, and we are not communists duh.

  • michael moore is the liberal rush limbaugh. in family guy they are the same person. conspiracy?

  • sad to say, usa brainwashes the people that cuba is a bad country but in the movie, it shows how much they care.

the usa is all fuckin corrupted with big cooperations paying congress.

  • @saddemgargouri Then explain why so many foriegners who suffer severe health problems come to the United States for health care rather than going to France or Cuba. And I'm not talking about rich people here, there are a lot of middle class people who come to the United States for health care.

  • well Cuba is one of the best country in the world in preventive medicine , which consist on stopping the causes or disease and getting ready for it , or stop it at it first steps where it's easier and cheaper and more effective to heal , that's how to manage to get excellent result for low investment in health . It's not the best in the world ,( France by the way is the best ) . i don't know about castro , if he is good or bad , but i know he has a good doctors managing his health system

  • wow it's interesting patient who lost weigh duo to sickness is shown as a starving to death patient , liars

  • I hate Michael Moore.

  • "elite get special treatment"....sound sexactly like the American system..I can't see the difference.

  • @bakersteven3 Yes, the American health care-system need to be de-regulated!

  • @JonasAnonym yes, along with the army, police, fire service, post office...and schools, why should rich people pay for poor people to get educated! If you're poor you should stay poor.

Oh, and a flat tax as well say 23%...also deruglated arms, the right to bear arms should involve nuclear weapons, the state has no righ tin telling me I can't have my own nuclear weapon.

After all our slave owning forfathers couldn't possibly be wrong.

  • @bakersteven3 Yes, I rather see that friendly cooperatives owns those branches than a violent state.

Thats right the poor people in Soviet Union, North Corea and similiar utopias had (and have) a great chance of getting rich....

I can't see why you should want to bear nuclear weapons. I guess that you should be locked up by the state for being a public hazard!

  • @JonasAnonym You may need a history update..the "soviet union" (better known as the USSR) doesn't exist anymore (in fact in broke up in 1991)so you are 20 years late for that comment. Russia at the moment is run purely as a captialistic state, and you are correct......a huge amount of poverty.

Korea (not a "c") is a terrible state, which even China dislikes (funny how you didn't mention them??).

Classic right wing rhetoric, you do realise there is a place called the MIDDLE..??

  • @bakersteven3 Let me quote myself on this: " Thats right the poor people in Soviet Union [...] had a great chance of getting rich... " If you do not understand what I mean with that; I am being ironic.

Yes, Russia, just like the west, is being to socialistic to expand economically.

Ah, Korea, that is how it is spelled in Swedish but Anglo-Saxians tend to spell things differently.

Because I do not want USA to steal more money, and control, the people, makes me right wing?

  • You know, as much as I don't like Michael Moore, he makes perfectly valid points.

While it is true that there are flaws with the data on Cuba, considering the fact that they're as poor as they are, it's still pretty impressive what they can do.

And even if we ignore Cuba, as Michael Moore suggested, that doesn't automatically mean that America is perfect.

  • @7031 Yes and the Cuban born doctor says Cuba's system is terrible.Of course! Because he lives in America and wants to make Millions and not live on the average Cuban doctor's salary !! As if he would give a fair description of Cuba's health care. It is a simple and honest system that does not put greed and wealth above human life. Average Americans are ignorant of this and we die in poverty after a lifetime of hard work when we get sick.

  • @justcallmeassinine High taxes make the economy much more inefficience, wich makes the price higher. But I guess it is better that some (read: greedy) alcoholic wannabe-Jackass(R) gets free (read: mroe expensive for everyone) healt-care for some time and that USA gets lost just like the "good old" Soviet Union.

  • @JonasAnonym I'm not sure I follow you there, but you seem to understand what its all about : most of us will be victimized by large health care insurance companies at a time in our lives when we are at our weakest and most vulnerable period of life.

  • @7031 America's health care system exists to rob people of their lifetime saving and assets....NOT to make people well. GREED RULES IN THE USA !!

  • @justcallmeassinine It robs it through insurance (which also robbed the soviet union, the European Union, Cuba and North Korea). Immediate cost is the ONLY way to lower prices.

  • @Rensune You are confusing.Private insurance giants play a in role many (not all) European Health care options, and in Russia (for those who can pay) but certainly not in Cuba or the infamous DPRK. Please elaborate with a few facts.

  • @justcallmeassinine Ia m talking about both public "universal" insurance and private "corporate" insurance. Both are third party payer mechanisms which ALWAYS raise cost (which is why Europe, even with it's pathetically small defense budget, is collapsing.)

  • @Rensune The thing is... not all of Europe is collapsing. Most of Scandinavia (Except the Iceland drunken gay nation) France,Germany ,Austria Swiss are doing well.Through the great EU central bank the richer nations are forcing austerity on the less well off nations in the EU and sucking the life and blood out of the other nation whose leaders sold out to the EU in return for high paying positions in the EU beaurocracy .Ireland was an economic tiger only 5 years ago.Now they are going down.

  • @Rensune Public and private "3rd party systems" do not have to raise costs. Not if stiff criminal penalties were imposed on the people who manage and handle the system, In this sense maybe China has it right; a bullet to the head of a public manager caught in illegal collusion with contractors of any sort, bribes, kickbacks, etc. Not that the threat of execution deters corruption in China ,but it's a start.

  • @justcallmeassinine Look up the term third party payer mechanism and come back.

  • @Rensune I will do that Ren. You seem to know something.Look forward to talking to you when I get time.

  • Life expectation in Cuba and in the US is around 79 years. So it is in Chile, Costa Rica, Puerto Rico. And Mexico Uruguay and Argentina are not far behind (76). Americans have to start dealing with two things:

1 - Latin American countries are starting to catch up with them, especially in terms of life expectancy

2 - Maybe their life expectancy is 2, 3 years below the average of other developed countries because they don't take care of their own health, and because 25% of the population is obese.

  • What a stupid premise. Does a third world island nation that has been under boycott for the last 50 years have better health care than the richest country in the world? Of course not. But it does provide better healthcare than any of its neighbors. In fact, it takes in people from other countries and provides them with free medical education, something that fellow neighbor, the USA, does not. Stossel does not do news, he does propoganda.

  • @TheAmazingMorse Who's boycotting Cuba? China? Japan? The EU?

  • @01Ubermensch Obviously you have a reason for asking a question that requires no answer, but I'm not sure what it is.

  • @TheAmazingMorse Then think harder.

  • @TheAmazingMorse Stoessel and ABC are spokesmen for they super rich that rule America and much of the world. You are very correct about that.

  • Private sector does EVERYTHING BETTER because they compete!!!

Oh my god who let that idiot in front of a camera?

  • Michael Moore, wealthy obese anti-American peddler, lectures people on health care while stealing "free health-care" from socialist countries. The best is when he steals "free health-care" courtesy of the poverty ravaged nation of Cuba. What a hero LOL. What a joke, why isn't this guy in jail for stealing?

  • Moore is not always prepared to protect his assertions.

  • USA healthcare system is same shit as our Russian health care. Damm even for many thousands of USD you will have shitcare. UN sends it's representatives to check children mortality and life expactancy at birth. And UN member country can't prohibit this inspection.

  • Hit the gym you fat fu*k moron moore and maybe the breast under your chin will disappear. This guy is a moron. Somebody please put a cuban cigar in his ***

  • I wonder how much Humana and Anthem had to pay 20/20 to run this.

  • Americans pay for fake cubans for their fake statements show few obivously fake pictures say obivously non truth shit, as the americans are so fucking brainwashed, so stupid, they dont see behind the bullshit, they dont.

  • Theres also a national geographic documentary on north korea, the doctors in north korea could not even perform a simple cataracts operation, 1000s of people going blind because of their serious lack of technology. And the documentry shows the old machines donated to them from the united states they use. Please excuse the hard working population of the US for trying to earn a living and makeing all you poor people pay for health care and ambulance rides.

  • Didn't Cuban medics aid with the New Orleans alleged hurricane/levvy disaster?

  • Turns out that sicko was a bunch of bullshit

  • @OBAMASTINKSLIKEANAPE No it doesnt you little racist fuckwit . I live in Australia ( the same country George W brain surgeon calls Austria) If we need to see a doctor here it costs us about 6 dollars. Most procedures here, X rays, colonoscopies etc are FREE Trust me, hand over your health care to your government. Even though Im pretty sure in your case nobody would care if you died.

  • AssholeMessiah. Funny, pwesident OlympDick, the stupid nigger that he is, thinks that Austrian is a language.

We have no intention of handing our healthcare over to nigger messiah, in fact as your lips are moving while you read my reply, the Republican congress is defunding OlympDick care.

  • @OBAMASTINKSLIKEANAPE Your choice of words undermines your own argument. Simply by removing your hurtful language your point is well taken. But with it, your intelligence is mistaken for ignorance because of HOW you say it. America is fucked up, that much can be agreed by everyone. But by driving a stake down the middle, splitting us up even more, will only make things worse.

  • @gunfiremessiah

Nothing is free. You pay for it in taxes.

  • wow, these atni cuba propaganda is ridiculous. complete and utter bullshit.

  • Google: "WikiLeaks: Cuba banned Sicko for depicting 'mythical' healthcare system"

  • @modifiedcontent

Actually Wikileaks found out it wasn't true.

  • @modifiedcontent While I agree with the mustached man that Moore was treated better than normal, this leak was pulled by the Guardian because Sicko was actually shown in Cuba and heralded so the leak was false.

  • @modifiedcontent While I agree with the mustached man that Moore was treated better than normal, this leak was pulled by the Guardian because Sicko was actually shown in Cuba and heralded so the leak was false.

  • @modifiedcontent why don't you remove this comment since it was never banned in cuba.

  • People, education is compulsory and free in Cuba and health is PUBLIC .Why you never understand anything? still continue to believe in lies tath your nation says?

When are you going to open your eyes? ABC lied, Cuba didn't ban Sicko. The movie was emited at 05/25/2008 in the Cuban Television and Michael Moore denied all of the ABC said. It's a terrible lie to say that Cuba has "VIP hospitals". Ojalá some day you can see the true. (sorry for my English)

  • I'll keep my American healthcare (as soon as Obamacare is gone).

  • @soundsliketruck Since you are not my friend, you don't know shit about him, so don't make bullshit comments. I didn't say this happens to everyone. There are cases where insurance companies neglect member, like it happened with my father. But if I iterate it, you will probably comment somethings absurd again. If sucking up to insurance companies' balls make you happy, keep doing so.

  • @Shiblee1986 There's just too many things wrong with the scenario given. The most glaring flaw is someone in an medical emergency attempting to get through to an insurance company rep for approval. I guarantee that it was non-emergency or follow-up care transportation, you will pay. In emergencies you don't even need insurance to receive ambulatory or medical care (I have, and did not incur a debt). The second flaw you claim is Federal Employees Health Benefits (FEHB) behind the injustice ;) kk

  • LETS ALL TRUST THE CIA ALL OF A SUDDEN!!!

  • Why did not the good ol US of A not care for the dieing 9/11 first responders? why did Moore not have to take them to Cuba? Are you not ashamed of this? and WHY are the first 9/11 responders dieing? buildings have structurally failed before, is there ANY precedent for all this what looks like radiation sickness post building collapses?? (AndDoes the US not back Cuban counter revolutionary terrorists? )

  • @MarkB1ngham I think the guy in this video is also forgetting that cuba is an island with nearly no resources at all. Michael shits all over him really, it's just he often needs to take more time to think of the best answer, i am the same..

  • Dumbfuk, if the so called first responders were employed by the city or county or state, they have access either to worker's comp benefits that pays 100% of their related medical claims or they have access to a health insurance plan administered by the City, county or state, all of which are run by democrats, so take it up with them,

  • @OBAMASTINKSLIKEANAPE I stand corrected!!! you are very well informed, er, do you know why this particular WTC strucural failure micron particle dust fallout caused all that death and illness resembling radiation sickness? Is there ANY precedent for this or is it yet another 9/11 first/last ?

  • Marky, the workers comp act for NY provides for payment for mediical expenses for on the job injuries, it does not inquire into whether the worker got injured by radiation or a brick felll on his head, just whether he was injured on the job. Health care plans operate in the same fashion, local issue.

  • @OBAMASTINKSLIKEANAPE what I don't get is why Moore had to take the sick and dieing 911 first responders to Cuba?

  • @MarkB1ngham Free care, better care.

  • Every small town in Cuba is having a medicine station-for free!

  • USA PROPAGANDA. DONT FALL FOR THIS. THERS COMPLAINTS EVERYWHERE BUT WHAT DOES WORK IS UNIVERSAL HEALTHCARE. USA WANTS YOUR MONEY AND THATS IT. GREEDY. FACTS ARE USA HOSPITOLS ARE LONG WAITS AND TURN DOWNS. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO THE HYPOCRITICAL OATH. OUR DOCTORS DONT USE IT. ITS CLEAR THAT THE WEALTHY DONT CARE ABT THEIR USA POOR BROS AND SIS'S. EVERYWHERE ELSE OUTSIDE AMERICA, PEOPLE THINK THAT WE R GREEDY AND SLOW IN THOUGHT. I CANT BLAME THEM. OUR GOVT NEEDS TO CHANGE.

  • We Americans>>??

please check a map..you are a united stater?

    lol

  • It's common sense that Republicans are the way to go. It's been that way since the beginning of America. I'm talking about true Republicans. Now they seem to have lost their way and is on the verge of getting back on track. I mean just read the history of the Democratic party. They were the ones that wanted to keep slavery in existence. Abraham Lincoln was a Republican. And what about those KKK members? Why are Republicans always linked to them? When the KKK was big, all members were Democrats.

  • @auimike things have changed. the repub demo argument with slavery was because the party originated in the south, and we all know the north and the south had some issues. Abe was nothing like the repubs of today who represent large financial instatutions not the interests of average americans. you gunna compare Abe to Bush? yeah they both belong to a party that has the same name but it aint the same party

  • tell u what my friends...i dnt c people from other countries to go to us for medical treatment...but i lived in portugal a ppl from portugal are being sent by their own government to cuba to treatment 4 some diseases...and is recognised that cuba has ones of the finest doctors in the world!and children that suffer from diseases caused by cernobyl accident are being sent to cuba to seek treatment 4 their disease...now...why r they not being sent in us if their system is so good???

  • @adynegrean i think the reason why cuban doctors are so good isn't due to the fact that the system is good. I think it is because of the fact that in cuba a doctor earns as much as someone from another profession. This results in those people becoming doctors that are truly dedicated to helping and treating those in need.

  • That's funny after John watches the little video segments, he laughs or smiles. I wish we could see him get really pissed off.

  • i can say in canada is even better than in cuba in cuba could be a free medical care but hospitals are fuckin disgusting and very filthy i have seen'em with my own eyes so they terat em well cus they were americans and they were foreigners so they gave them the best care just for american gouverment to see but the care for cuban people the care is bullshit and they have to go to the most filthy hospitals ever with no hygiene at all

  • Why don't Stossel compare their healthcare with Canada?

  • test

  • It's unfortunate that Michael Moore has distorted the truth for his own sensational gain. I wonder what he has to gain by perpetuating these lies that he has generated. Maybe it's for the same reason why many people did not want to believe that the Earth was round and not flat or that it revolved around the sun and not vice versa. Any one know why he is deparately trying to create the illusion of an efficient, fair, and well-organized healthcare system in Cuba???

  • @mightyoak11111

    Unfortunately you are wrong!!!

First those footages of delapidated hospitals are NOT actually hospitals!

Second, everyone know that americans have an irrational fear of socialism and communism! That why you cant believe that Cuba has a better healthcare than America (which IS TRUE)

• According to the World Health Organization. The USA ranks 37th in the world (in health care), Cuba ranks 39th.

(United Kingdom ranks 18th, Canada ranks 30th)

  • @Cupit29 Look on the date of that W.H.O report, it's 2002. They no longer do these reports due to the complexity of them. Please stop using outdated information.

  • @supitstom It's 2000 actually, and I know that. I'd still trust a 10 year old WHO ranking table over Michael Moore or ABC, wouldn't you?

  • @Cupit29 Neither the former or latter seem like a viable choice, I would rather use current and ongoing facts to support any strong arguments that I have.

  • @Cupit29 A lot of stuff can change within 10 years, especially when an economy can quickly drop within a year or so. Once again stop using old information and go with the current.

  • @supitstom Why don't YOU drudge through all the recent data gathered by all the Health Organizations on every aspect of healthcare for every country and post it all here. Because I really can't be bothered. The WHO report is a good enough outline for me, effectively contradicts Moore's idea of a Cuban utopia and is actually some reasonably reliable (if outdated) information, which is more than you've provided.

  • @Cupit29 I'm not saying Cuba has better healthcare than the United States, in fact I highly insist when it comes to efficiency and quality of care the US should be considered as one of the top places to be. However when you use old facts you obscure the current truth, America may be #1 at this moment and you would have never known that, because you reused old and false facts.

  • @supitstom I assume you have a source of information to back up your claim.

The "National Center for Health Statistics" and the "Centers for Disease Control" (2008 Data Brief) is one more recent source for you. Using old data is rather preferable to using none at all.

  • @supitstom

The WHO report is not false, and is still reliable. If you can actually be bothered to look up more recent research they all come to pretty much the same conclusion. US healthcare, whilst not even close to being the worst, is not good enough for THE global super power. Just saying.

But that's not even my point! My point is that Cuba's healthcare is pretty shit and Michael Moore annoyed me by making out that it was so amazing.

  • @Cupit29 My point is you were using a 10 year outdated fact, can you not wiggle out of that? I'll agree with your 2nd half of that statement though.

  • So i should belive to CIA but not to Cuban government

    Yeah right

  • the garbage men, sewage system and public transport such as the subway are all maintained by the government and theres hardly a problem with them.

  • Haha, the interviewer actually takes a Human Rights Organization doctor to counter Moore's arguments. The Human Rights Organization is, whatever one might say, under US influence, especially in what concerns the Human Rights situation in Cuba. They just want to give a bad reputation to its government, though Cuba boasts a constitution among the most Human Rights orientated in the world.

The Human Rights Organization is, as the U.S., intent on the collapse of communism in Cuba.

  • It's true that communist countries like Cuba give false information to the U.N. And the sad thing is that the U.N. takes their word for it. Imagine an industrial, communist country like China reports that their citizens live long healthy lives. Plus, they don't have to report how much gas they emit into the air. And they have more gas released into the air than any country. So, if you say they are telling the truth then you are saying that these gases don't attribute to health problems.

  • I'm here in the Philippines and I could just see how poor the country would become if they had universal healthcare. With how big the population is and how many poor people are here. If all poor people had health insurance paid by the taxpayers then this country would go down hill even more. But, they do provide here cheap medicines and doctor visits. Penicillin and amoxicillin....commonly used is over the counter here for very cheap and is just as effective.

  • @auimike well i think u are just one of those who can afford private health care my friend...and i think u are seeing the things in a wrong way...phillppines would be richer without so much corruption...and what is the point 4 a country to be wealthier if her citizens can't afford to seek medical attention..is it fair for some people swim in money. other not to have what to give to their children for dinner, some to get luxury health care and others to die, what kind of social justice is this?

  • bbbb

  • People in the USA just can't see why any form of socialism is good ; that's propaganda for you.

  • Moores fighting a losing battle against men like this, he can't beat back the endless torrent of lies that gets pumped into the media.

  • @Jacada123 I love how liberals call people liars and never give reason why they are liars. Unlike 20/20 who absolutely PROVE WHAT A LIAR MOORE IS. Why don't you start a new liberal trend Jacada and follow up your comment with proof of the people you call liars lieing. Hell anyone with common sense should know if Cuba was so great then 10s of thousand wouldn't risk their lives getting on homemade rafts in the hopes of making it to the US.

  • So Michael why aren't the Cubans helping the poor people of Haiti in their hour of need? After all according to you their health care is better than ours!

  • @espada9 (Cuban doctors were some of the first aid docs on the ground in Haiti, FYI. More than 1/3 of Cuba's doctors are doing voluntary aid-work abroad at any given time.)

  • Really? How can they leave their country? If they come to America, the first step they take on U.S. soil, they can become citizens. I really doubt that Cubans can become global and still be a citizen of Cuba.

  • Cubans who reach the US are only citizens if they wish to defect. Cuban musicians often tour the US and then return to Cuba. Cuba has a 98% retention rate amongst their doctors who do volunteer work abroad. There are 2% who do choose to stay (in South Africa, for instance) to seek a "better" life. "Better" meaning wealthier. Many Cubans understand that wealth and happiness are not necessarily the same. In the US, many people become doctors to make money, in Cuba they do so to help others.

  • I just do not get it, why do so many Americans insist on making their insurance industry richer?

Anyway, for what Cuba is - a pretty low average income country - they have an unproportionally good health system/level.

By the way, ANY European country has a hybrid health system consisting out of corporate AND social (government run)insurances. Anybody who deducts from that, that for example UK or Germany are socialist countries is a minkey and tries to mislead people!

  • @nelumio I do agree we need a hybrid healthcare system, but the UK is not hybrid, it's 90% socialised.

The UK percentage wise is more of a socialist country than China.

  • @nelumio One word: BRAVO! I live in Norway and we have a general health system which provides all health care for all citizens. And guess what? Its free.

  • @nevzom Nothing is free, but I get your point.

  • @nevzom You pay for it in taxes but I still agree with you. In Japan we also have a National Health Care system. But recently the patients must pay a larger percent ( co-pay ).Still it is a much better system than the fraud and greed that kills and impoverishes people in American hospitals everyday.

  • @nelumio at the end of the day, a socialist is just a compassionate capitalist. what the fuck is wrong with that?

  • Sorry but we can't compare the US the richest counrty in the world, and Cuba one of the poorest. They're not comparable. Even though cuba is a poor country its health care systeme isn't that bad.

  • Michael moore never said that Cuba has better healthcare, we are only a little bit better than them. We rank as 37th on the rating list of healthcare made by the World Health Organization while cuba ranks as 38th. The point that Moore was trying to make is that we were hearing that they are cold communists, and then he found that they were generous enough to treat us in their hospitals. People like Stossel think that Moore is a liar because they make false assumptions about his words.

  • Comment removed

  • he said they have great healthcare. moore makes stuff up and Stretching The Truth

  • their healthcare is pretty good, he didnt make up anything. any time i hear a person talk about moore "lying," it is a lie itself or they are misinterpretting what he said, like you are doing now.

  • ok, would you want to go there if you needed medical help?

  • No, I would probably stay here, because the healthcare is similar. As Moore was pointing out, it is easier to get coverage there.

  • In Ontario, Canada.. we have a big shortage of doctors, long waits and overcrowding, and a lot of Doctors that "rush" to keep up, thus giving us less attention per patient, most of the time leading to misdiagnosis and giving the wrong prescription. Mr. Moore... Before you toot Canada's horn on Healthcare.. Make sure you back it up.. Canada's Healthcare was better than the USA.. 10 or so years ago.. When US citizens would come here for it.. I'm sorry to inform you, but now its the opposite!

  • Clearly you do not know much about Americas crisis. Your system isnt perfect, but it still works better than ours. The wait times in Canada on average are about 4 weeks for non-emergency surgeries and 3 weeks for diagnostic tests. I realize that you are unhappy about your hospital, but it very much depends on the particular province you live in. You may not like it, but up to 80% of canadians do.

  • You dont know many people living in Canada do you? Lol. Go to any major city and you'll see the same wait times you do in the USA.. Maybe sometimes worse.. Go to a small city, and you get a halfass doctor that doesnt give 2 shits, and still for some reason with nobody else in the waiting room you'll find yourself there for 2- 3hours.

  • I do know people who live in Canada, I have family up there. Statistics still say that 50% of Canadians see doctors in less than 6 minutes. There are bad conditions in some cities and in some hospitals, but overall they do a very good job. Much of it depends on what province you live in and what condition you have, very similar to that in the U.S.

  • Statistics? Who's statistics? Don't tell me you're one of those people who feed off of whatever the media puts out there... And overall the USA does better than we do.. It's only logical. The USA spends more on equipment, they put more effort into research, they establish teams we can't.. why? We don't have the funding OR the doctors to pull it all off.. Face it, most of Canada's healthcare equip comes from the USA these days, how can we be "better"?

  • The general media isnt on my side on this one, and the statistics come from college institutions and non-partisan groups. The U.S. spends more per capita than any other country in the world and we still have higher infant mortality rates and lower average life span than countries like Canada, Britain, and France. A child born in detroit has less of a chance of surviving than a child born in El Salvidor, If America had better health care than Canada, these numbers would be different.

  • Betterthanbarker, I have seen physicians in upscale neighborhoods that it took an hour to get in to see. They simply over booked. It is all relative.

  • I know its all relative, but it is like that in every country and it always will be. Overall, a universal healthcare system is not perfect, but it is much better than what America currently has.

  • Many folks without health insurance are crying and weeping despite the fact that if they lived responsibly they could afford it. Before socking trillions of dollars to the American people, maybe our politicians should try to figure out why health care is so expensive, especially in comparison to other countries. TORT law reform might be a good way to start.

  • Many folks without health insurance are not able to get it not because they screwed up, but because they are denied insurance everywhere they go. I have crohn's disease, and if I ever were to go to a major health insurance company, I would be denied because it costs the company so much. There are 48 million Americans without health insurance. The problem isn't just the fact that people can't get insured, it's also that even the people who aren't insured aren't necessarily gauranteed coverage.

  • So, if you were suffering from a broken leg or even had a tumor....would you really trust on getting it fixed in another country outside of U.S. Do you really think that the service our doctors give is horrible?

  • No, the service our doctors give is not horrible. The problem isn't the care, it's the insurance. In other countries, they have good healthcare too. If I needed to, I would get treated in another country. Countries like France, Sweden, Britain, Canada, and Germany are all rated above us by the World Health Organization.

  • Go see for yourself before making a conclusion and standing on the side that's not completely true. I know you're not a global minded person by your responses. When you talk about how bad America is in health insurance...you include all the states and the cities inside those states. There are cities and sections of different countries just like America. For example in the Philippines...Manila has dirty facilities unlike down south in Davao. It depends on where in a country you're talking about.

  • I realize that, and it is evident that the same accusation of non-global mindedness can be made about yourself. I take into account each rebutle that a person makes for me but many of them can also be refuted yet again. You are right that many countries that aren't as good at us, but there are also countries that are much better. The reason that I am an advocate for a universal healthcare system is because we have a problem and I want the very best for my country.

  • I just wanted to share a personal story. Both my friend and I work for the government, a wonderful place to work in America. My friend got into an accident in NYC and he was taken to hospital in an ambulance. Later he was billed for the ambulance ride because it wasn't pre-approved. Was my friend supposed to call the insurance company right before he got run over and inform that he would get hit in 5 seconds and the ambulance ride should be covered? This is the inefficiency of health care.

  • Yes thank you, we have heard this story in Mr. Moore's movie. I have a personal story too. I work for the government and I had to have 2 orthopedic surgeries, both I paid $0.00. in fact now the governmet pays me a pention for those injuries. So where is the system not taking care of people?

  • Obviously, the man wasn't prompt with his accident, you're supposed to call ahead, that's why our health care is better.

Well at least with respect to Cuba, Moore was probably wrong, still doesn't mean USA 's health care is Humpty-dory.

  • nothing is prefect. if you want healthcare in cuba or canada, go there.

  • @Shiblee1986 I want to share a personal story to. My brother did really good in school, he wanted to become a doctor. So he asked people in the field if this was a good choice to practice medicine, they told him that it is very hard because they can get sued left, and right. Then he decided to become a dentist. The reason why health care is so costly is because malpractice lawsuits cost so much money it drives people away from the field.

  • @dukee155 not true, the reason the costs are high is because they can be. Medicare and insurance has allowed the industry to boom over last 60 years. Nobody could come up with 120 grand for triple bypass, ah but the insurance industry can so they can start shelling out high cost healthcare at the expense of everybody. It is a pyramid sceme.

  • @Shiblee1986 No, that is the inefficiency of New York City. New York City has a big population and needs to have transportation where the taxes cover the costs of emergency vehicles. New York is also run by Democrats. If you look at a majority of states that are run by Democrats, you'd see they are failing. How can you deny it?........unless you yourself call yourself a Democrat. And to the Republicans. You guys need to always stay on your game. Don't just do it when the Democrats are in control

  • @auimike uh if i remember right we hap the repubs running the show for the last decade almost and the country was run in to the ground.

  • @aramhampson Speak for yourself when you see "we". I didn't help anybody do anything. It's politicians that run the country to the ground.....regardless of the political affiliation. Republicans and Democrats are pulling around the people and triggering emotions to divide the people of the country. It's all a strategy game. When the Democrats back in the day saw their popularity was dropping due to them opposing civil rights and far back when they wanted to keep slavery.

  • @auimike

Republicans are the party of big business who funds their campaigns & funds the right wing think tanks where federal policy in Republican years is devised. Big business has reinvented itself with a freshly minted if ill defined term called "Liberty". We are at "liberty" to starve but the pay off is we are "free" watch the police beat up blacks on TV. Reality is a TV show you can watch in prison. It is a closed system now, to reinforce the idea that there is no alternative

  • @jazzbo66zz Gimme a break you jackass. You liberals all spout the same nonsense. Republicans are in bed with corporate america and wallstreet. Obama's administration is filled with wallstreet insiders. Lawrence Summers, Michael Froman, David Axelrod, Thomas E. Donilon, Louis Caldera, and more than that in lower positions.

And a number of large corporations donate to Obama and his fellow dems almost exclusively (Google among them).

So stop with that tired argument.

  • @barnoldwhv

Party politics & US history are subjects you are not familiar with. Having said that, the Republican Party is not in bed with corporate America, it is corporate America. The parties have come to resemble a one party system as they are tethered to the same failed 19th century Utopian economic theory but appeal to dissimilar constituencies historically. The Republican populists are of the old south & rest on a reactionary antebellum tradition. Racial animus remains its driving force.

  • @jazzbo66zz "Party politics & US history are subjects you are not familiar with", based on what? I'm the only one has has made specific points here and not impotent and nonsensical philosophizing. Both parties use race baiting that is true. It is also true that these two party's are similar in some ways (most notably that they both continually expand the power and scope of the federal government).

  • @jazzbo66zz In this economy most people are worried about fiscal policy. "Racial animus remains its driving force", only in your mind, silly man.

  • @jazzbo66zz You say that Republicans promote "politics of division" which formed "a caste system drawn along lines of race" and then go on to make some bizarre comment about watching "the police beat up blacks on TV". Who is promoting racial division here? How about Obama telling Latinos to "punish your enemies"? Is that divisive? Instead of blathering nonsense why don't you debate the actual arguments made in this video you douche. Sorry for the harshness but I hate trollish comments like this.

  • @barnoldwhv

The Republican party has sought to perpetuate a system of de facto apartheid over the past century & you have not learned this yet? I can offer some helpful literature on the subject incl. Taylor Branch's epic study of the civil rights movement; Parting the Waters. Another excellent selection to help you recognize the populist/corporate subculture that the Republicans draw on is Marshall Friday's, Billy Graham, A Parable of American Rightousness or Garry Will's, Nixon Agonistes.

  • @aramhampson You probably chose to forget that the Republicans are the ones that freed the slaves and fought for Civil Rights. JFK even opposed Civil Rights at one time, but later changed his stance. Did you choose to forget that the majority of the Ku Klux Klans were Democrats......hell the person who found it was a Democrat. The Democrats saw they were losing ground and so they progressed into this fake "saving the minority" act to gain their votes to make the Democrats the majority once more.

  • @auimike

The Republican Party systematically opposed the voting rights act, school integration & affirmative action. The crux of the issue of race remains at the center of Republicans view of America. What they have supported in the 20th century is the politics of division and those policies have metastasized into the hard structure of a caste system drawn along lines of race. The problem for your white minority party is how to disenfranchise half the country and remain electable.

  • @Shiblee1986 Liar.

  • HAHAHA OMG, this it's funny, maybe some people are retartd or something else, SiCKO movie it's not about Cuba, it's about your faulty health system, if you don't believe the part of cuba, WHAT ABOUT CANADIAN, FRENCH AND BRITAIN SYSTEM!?

    Simply WORKS!

    C´mon, wake up!

PS: My french friend really likes their health system, choose his doctor, no long waits, good attention just for free! And they pay to doctor very well!

  • grrrrr frrrrr........you are RIGHT !!!

THIS IS STUPID HOLLYWOOD TRICK ! THIS TV GUY IS SOFULLOFSHITASSHOLE... :(

IF AMERICAN PEOPLE DON'T WAKE UP, THE REST OF US ARE IN DEEP SHIT :((((

I REALLY MEAN (KNOW) THIS !!!

WISH YOU ALL THE BEST !

    CHEERS !

  • Even Castro's doctor is from Spain. Why he does not uses his own doctor's if their so good. The cashier in the farmacy is using a cash register of the 1950's. Their medicine is not that good. All the horror stories that happens there, the world should know.

  • Yeah you go to the doctor, he tells you what to do for free, he prescribe the medicine, but the medicine is NOT free, and even if you can buy it, they don't have it in the farmacy. And when it comes down to have a surgery, then you're really in trouble because they don't want to waist their anesthesia, they don't have the machines

  • Please Micheal Moore move to Cuba. Enjoy your "free" health care. Don't come back to the USA...we don't want you!

  • These 2 sides of the argument are extreme- total capitalism vs. total socialism. Watch the pbs documentary online "Sick Around America" for some other successful models of healthcare around the world.

  • How come only the rich get good health care in US.

Yes anyone wo is rich can get the best HEalthcare anywhere.

So all you ignorant Americans wake up. We are getting

the shitty end of the sick with health care.

  • BTW, i'M lucky enough to be Spanish where Franco (the right wing dictator) instaured the social security around 40 yrs ago. Worst of all is that you're sold the idea that you have the best system in the world... And you BUY it and DEFEND it! Oh, if you could see your poor souls from the outside

  • Funny how critical comments about Moore don't contribute with any arguments to support their view. OPEN YOUR EYES, ask any European person, you're being ripped off. Don't follow your political party as if it was a sect, THINK!

  • Why do the super rich come here for their healthcare.Answer that SHITHEAD.

  • cuba spends under 50 dollars per person for healthcare. we use over 7000.

who the hell cares if they live 1 yr less.

  • typical american chauvinistic bullshit

my parents went to cuba and the healthcare system is overwhelmingly great.

  • Tell us another one of your FICTIOUS STORIES.

  • oh and the interviewee is a douche bag and so is his mustache...maybe he should be diagnosed with cancer, be poor, get denied by his insurance company, and than know how it feels to be ripped off by our so called flawless society

  • sounds like this is fabricated in a typical american cover up fashion...once again typical American propaganda trying to portray all negative aspects of other countries trying to keep its citizens from wising up and leaving to Canada and England.
