i ordered one of these of dealextreme and it has cardboard packaging and in the pictures it didnt have the usb does the cardboard come with usb?

There are 2 versions of the Cardboard one, the one that has a USB adapter and one that does. The one that doesn't is called the Compact Version.

Is it ok if you use a class 2 micro sd? Or does any class work? Whats the difference when you use different class of micro sd card on the acekard anyways?

The higher the class the faster it will load stuff on the MicroSD. The class that most people will get is Class 4 because it runs everything fine. Class 2 might give you some problems with like Castlevania or something but nothing really extreme

No, what matters with the MicroSD card (if its SDHC) is the Class its in, that determines how fast it is. Class 4 MicroSDs are usually really good.

My favorite is the CycloDS by far, but if you don't have $50 to drop on it, get the AceKard 2 definitely.

Yeah the ones that come in the carton are version 2.1 the ones that come in the plastic case are the first version. Most fo the reviews were done when the first version came out, I did a review on both versions.

Most of the times places give you the entire package. I think the only place I know that doesn't give you the whole package is Bamboogaming. So yeah, don't worry, I'm pretty sure they will give you the whole package.

As far as I know, It's all the same card. It runs the same firmware and everything, the only difference is is that the AceKard 2i has a different build to work with the DSi. So whether you have the Acekard 2, Acekard 2.1, or the Acekard 2i, you can use the same firmware for all of them.

I paid like $20 for it on DealExtreme. I bought the Elink and it works fine, I don't have it anymore but every game that I tried worked fine.

The Acekard 2i works with all versions of the DS. The regular Acekard 2 only works with Phat, and Lite.

You can just get the connection off of your router, thats what I do.

There are homebrew web browsers out there, if you have an EZ Flash 3-in-1 you can definately use the actual web browser but the homebrew browsers are ok.

yeah... i have the firmware on it, but when it goes to the start menu it shows 3 options on the touch screen and the top screen is white, when i pick the top option it doesnt do anything, but when i pick the other two "microSD and slot 2" it brings up a box that says "text". i don't know if the firmware or the SD card is screwey because when i use my brothers SD card it works fine.

Hmmm, You could try reformating your MicroSD card. Reformat it in FAT32 and make sure you get the firmware from the AceKard website.

Try that out and tell me how it goes.

You can't emulate GBA games unless you have a GBA Flashcard, but Snes games are easy to emulate.

You need to get the .nds homebrew file (for SNES its SNEmulds) and then get some roms to put in a folder and run it.

Its pretty simple, it comes with instructions.

My favorite card is the Cyclo DS. I have had it the longest, its best supported, has never failed on me. It's totally worth the price.

Yes a Kingston microSD will work. I use a (Japan Made (they are the best)) 1gb Kingston microSD with my flashcards.

There have been many problems with the last few batchs of the AceKard 2. You got one of them. I suggest that you either ask for a refund or a replacement, but the cards still aren't fixed yet so I would ask for a refund and get a DSTT or so.

Acekard 1 came out along time ago, the one you are talking about is the AceKard RPG yes it does have built in memory, RPG's are alot better because AceKard 2 has had alot of problems lately. You need a gba card to play gba games on the ds.

No, You need a GBA flashcard to play games. They aren't that much though, probably about $20 or so. Also, I think it should work on Mac's I don't see why it shouldn't.

You can get Bliss' OS if you have an AceKard 2 and that plays the music from the menu. And moonshell isn't that hard to load up you just need the .nds file and should work good.

You have to get MoonShell.

Go to the AceKard website and go to downloads. Go down the page a bit and look for the link "MoonShell for AceKard 2". Download it and open the zip file. Go into the folder "moonshell" and put the file "moonshl" and the .nds file below it in your micro SD.

its held together by 5 plastic clips, you just gently pry them open and then the casing falls away in 2 pieces, although the actel proasic chip will be stuck to the sticker

i took apart a commercial DS game cartridge without breaking anything, and all you have to do is put the chip in and seal the two halves with some glue then it works fine.

just like PSP UMD's DS games are actually glued together.

the secret to taking things apart is to be slow and gently pry things open

yeah u probably shouldnt i took apart my guitar hero controller once (not the best example i no) but taking apart electronics is a bad idea if a crcuit board breaks, ur screwed. if a wire breaks, ur screwed. if the inside gets really dirty, once again ur screwed. so i wouldnt do it. i bought a EZV from dealextreme (mainly for the gba expansion pack, which i love) but the EZ V doesn't work, ie the game will load and play, but after 5-15 minutes will misload something.

anyway im considering buying either the acekard 2 and the DSTT from dealextreme, and i was wondering which you would recommend more.

the 5 bucks or so would not be a issue.

It's tough because I really like both (I sold my DSTT only because my friend really wanted to buy it from me). Hmmm, If you are looking for nothing fancy and just playing games with no crazy menus and such go for the DSTT. If you are looking for something that has awesome skins and has crazy menus go for AceKard 2.

They are both really good so its hard to chose. I would have to say AceKard 2 though.

I don't really use homebrew very much. I used to use it alot when I had my DS-X. For memory cards, go with a Kingston but make sure its Japan made.

It has a spring in the AceKard 2, I don't like it at all. You have to push the microSD a bit far to get it in, but it doesn't feel like the spring is going to break at all.

Yup, they are both strong springs though. They are not horrible springs like the first version of the R4.

Go with the AceKard 2, its pretty damn good.
