  • Hello, what is your Strat' model ? With what pickups can you have that lovely sound ? By the way, congratulations for the video ! Greetings from Czech Republic.

  • Hmmm one thing I cant stand about any guitarist that wants to finger pick is why they grow their nails out... you look like a coke head. You can finger pick just as good without having your hands look nasty. Cut your fingernails please. Its gross...

  • @theSicilianToe HA! LOL! Tell that to Ed Gerhard or Mike Oldfield!

  • @theSicilianToe now i know u don't a good player

  • @osssgur Speak English before talking to me.

  • @theSicilianToe sorry i dont know english very well

  • Here comes the "Money Shot"? XD Epic, dude.

  • down to the waterline?

  • It''s funny, Knopflers chord changes and licks aren't terribly complicated, but the tone and feel are SO IMPORTANT to even coming close. BTW, the "money shot" lick is a fairly standard blues lick (maybe with a slight twist) right in the first pentatonic position.

  • Hi! Fantastic lesson!! I tried to apply some of your ideas, I answer this video with my try. Thanks a lot and best regards from Spain!!!

  • quick question: for the splattly-doo lick at the beginning, are you arpeggiating those above strings as you play them, pulling your fingers off the previous string as you go on to the next one, or are you letting those strings sustain?

Anyone else who figured it out feel free to answer. Great lesson!

  • @halofan00 I think he pull's off as he goes, I would any way. Also for me it's easier to bar the index finger lightly so that way if I don't get the rest of the finger's or the pull off timing ect correctly I've still got the muted bar to fall back on, so at least I'll get that rakey sound. Thing's like this seem to complicate thing's but they do actually make it easier in the end. It's hard to explain thing's like this isn't it.

    ( splatty do haha)

  • simple guys. strat + good single coils. play with the hand! and amp with good clean. IT'S THE TONE

  • hey beavis, huh huh huh... he said "money shot". huh huh huh

  • What a juicy tone... I like it!

  • Loveky tone awesome cheers!

  • what kind of volume pedal are u using?

  • thanks

  • Whats the neck of the strat looks really thin

  • Jimmy Dillon is an awesome teacher. Mark Knopfler uses a "lobster claw" motion for his strumming hand so he can free pick up and down- leading to a faster movement.I could listen to Knopfler forever and never get tired of him.i plan on buying Jimmy Dillon's Acoustis Soul lessons as soon as I get the money.

  • What is the guitar modification for the acoustic sound?

  • knopflers tone comes from his fingers! He has a touch noone else can replicate on guitar.

  • theres something strangely nice about a green strat

  • Great tone on your guitar, sounds great. Nice style of playing!!!!

  • great but a pity the video runs out before explaining the final lick.

  • is this your song or is there a whole version or name for it

  • @Barticis Sounds like "Down to the waterline" from first Straits album...

  • @heljta it is down to the waterline ;)

  • Good stuff dude! never heard of knopfler, maybe ill go check him out now.

  • @Barticis You're 30 and you've never heard of MK? Must something wrong with you...

  • @Barticis dire straits

  • @Chadsxxy oh ok heard of dire straits, i listen to way to much different artists to keep up man

  • What amplifier are you using in this clip? Sounds sweet...

  • I blieve the term your looking for is a sweep....

and sound wise...knopflers sound is achieved by having a high quality strat....

  • Love that tecnique, Thanks.
