I remember this add on Saturday morning cartoons. I couldn't wait till it snowed to make a ice hill. I would put staples in the tires talking about getting traction the staples would make the stompers climb any ice hill you could make. (poor kids today)
I had SO many of these as a kid... SO MUCH FUN! I actually found one I bought 13-14 years ago the other day. My 15 month old is a bit young right now, but I'll give it to him when he's a bit older.
I would like to get some of these nowadays. Simple, but they really went over stuff. Perfect for little kids. Nowadays there's too much radio control crap. What ever happened to the simple fun of building obsticles in the sand and letting your stomper go?

@Defiants11 the defiants are great! i think the chassis is a little too bulky with the front tires barely in front of it>The casting for that little magnet hangs up easy> Great power i have the old stompers also and i think you guys are on to something> Whats the deal with remaking the original single speed stompers? Can they not be replicated due to old patents or something? or how about more authentic looking wheels and bodies for the dfiants in the near future! That will seal the deal haha
@DetroitIsland Don't remember that one. I remember the Rough Rider Tri-X with the gear shifter sticking out of the roof. They actually worked underwater.
I was addicted to my Stompers when I was a kid. My fried and I would build the ultimate "tracks from hell" in the sandbox in the backyard. Those little toys rocked!!
Brings back some EXTREMELY FOND memories for me!! My brother & I had numerous Stompers vehicles over the years as well as the Action-Track playset!! What GREAT times those were!!
i remeber battling with these the loser loses his truck.i had a car that ran on a track"not a stomper"but looked like one.it was twice as strong .i won a ton of stompers with it.
i remember that the 1st set of tires bein either hard rubber or soft faom, they chasnged it from one to the other somewhere along the way,but i remember the hard rubber tires had a really good smell to them and we would smell them all ofthe time, the 1st generation stomper was built really well and the gears were hard to strip, but the 2nd gen was shit.
OMFG! I had 4 of them back in the day including those amphibious ones with the big paddle rubber tyres. I also had the brown track with the bridge and the turnaround at the end. Daym this brings back memories.
My brothers and I used to have a bunch of these and the Rough Riders. I remember going to K mart with my friend from school, we had just bought new batteries and put them in the truck. My friends 2 older sisters were sitting in the front seat. Once they got a hold of the hair that was it!! we tried pulling em out, and they would wind right back up!!!! LMAO!!!
I had the Bronco...went through like two packs of batteries a week...then my mom said I had an addiction and sent me to some meetings where I found 9.6v turbo RECHARGABLE BABY....been clean for years
LOL, tangle your hair all to fuk!!! You're so right...and remember that smell they gave off? The rubber-tire-and-plastic-turning-mechanical-gears-with-some-type-of-internal-lubrication scent??
I used to have a bunch of these things, and I still have the Dodge Warlock unopened! I have a real version too. I have an '04 Dodge Ram 4x4 regular cab with the big STOMPER windshield decal, and true Stomper styled wheels! Like the toys, this truck can go anywhere!
Guys, I to long for my old Stompers. But yesterday I found a similar machine in Target made by Matchbox. The main difference is instead of the on switch on the bottom is that you press the top of the car to turn on and off. Also no lights :(
glad you got a sense of humor ...a lot of people take things very serious on you tube they just dont get jokes on here...now I would seriously never have done anything that cruel ...but my friend did pee on a yellow jelly bean and then he tried to give it to this other kid as a snack... luckily that kid knew something was up and politely told my friend to go fuck himself
well that other kid who was chosen to eat the jelly bean was not really my friend..in fact I didnt like him at all ..thats why I didnt warn him that the jelly bean had been peed on.....he was smart enough not to eat it but I wouldnt have stopped him if he did....he was one of those rich kids that had all the cool toys but would never share...my friend was like robin hood but instead of stealing from the rich he like to pee on things...also he did steal some stuff from that rich kid...lol
i want one so bad! my dad said he had one growin up and he oiled it and waterproofed it and they it into a pool and it drove under water, lol I WANT ONE
we use to modify these thing like you wouldn't believe. 9 Volt batterys with a hand help throttle.
We would have truck pulls at school with these things. Yep....I had the truck pull sled also. Damn , I wish I still had all of my stompers. Don't have a clue what happend to them. Girls came along and I lost interest.
Yeah I hear ya man, the 80's is where so many things happened, MTV, HBO, the smurfs, punky brewster, webster, all the good horor flicks, nintendo, atari. It was awesome.
These would have been so cool as RC cars. They were still very fun. I'm pretty sure the ones I had in the 70's were a little smaller than these. They also had interchangeable tires. One set made of hard rubber/plastic, and the other set was more like a soft foam rubber.
I used to shred these in the crawfish ditches by my house;when I was eight i wired 2 aa batteries together and burned the motor up in a tight-looking f-150;those were the days;watching dukes of hazzard w/a happy meal and in between commercials, play with your stomper.

We even had a place where we could order, brass gears, extra bodys, custom wheels and tires.
Did anyone ever super glue two wheels and tires together ?
We knew all the tricks.
They would never make these things again.
If they did, they wouldn't produce them like the originals. To many moving parts for some kid to choke on. LOL.
\
Wish they would make them again though.
