I'm considering purchasing gelatin instead of latex, but I've heard gelatin will fall off an actor's face if they get too hot/start to sweat. Is that true? Would it hold up on, say, an actor in a haunted house?
@Dissociation1 this depends on a number of factors. What is the ambient temp at the location? If it is over 84º then I'd go with latex. Will he wear it over 8 hours? Also, does the actor sweat a lot? Will the appliance be anchored to his lips? You should spray a barrier material on the skin before applying makeup. Kryolan makes a makeup fixative for this purpose. Personally I've never had an appliance fall off and think it is a much better material than straight latex.
@branane Well, it always seems to be different every Halloween. I'd say it's usually about 70º or less. However, he'll be running around, and possibly working up a sweat.
And I'm guessing he'd wear it for roughly 6-8 hours. The haunt is open for 6 hours, but I have to get about 12 people's makeup done, so some get theirs on early.
What adhesive would you suggest? I'm currently using Pros-aid, and it seems pretty strong. I assume it would work okay for gelatin?
if the facial wound had a little more gore...uhhh dont really know how to say it..ooo uhhh...more bumps or ridges inside it.. it would look a lot better
i believe the words you are looking for is texture and detailing, and yes, I agree, and allso it could have been a bit darker. but all in all it's pretty freaky:P
been doing this my whole life. It does not hurt at all, since it is gelatin it melts off during a hot shower, the glue can be a little stubborn though...
Haha, the eye infection. Nice touch, lol :b
