What I would like to know is why a lot of comments talk about their happiness in their Christian faith like it is the only way to be happy. I am pagan, I follow my faith, practice my faith and am extremely content and happy with my faith but I can recognize the fact that my religion may not be what someone else needs because their path through this life is different. Isn't it closed minded to think that what makes you happy will make everyone happy?
@Kayt0611 I think you are missing the point. The videos are simply part of a larger view to share with the world that Mormons do not fit the stereotypes that others have put on them most of which are nearly two centuries old and out-dated and wrong, both then and now. No one is saying you can't be happy with another belief system other than that of Christ's teachings. There are many teachings by many others that parallel one another. They have different labels and attachments but the same truth.
God favors No Religion or people. We are all created equal in his eyes. Mormons are not special in any way and do in fact have some pretty strange beliefs including polygamy, what's with that anyways? Do they need to go door to doo selling their beliefs? I think it's wrong to solicit Religion. As long as what you believe in makes you feel good and makes you want to "Do" good, then believe in whatever you want because that is all that matters. :)
@Bretster2010 Agreed God loves every single one of His children equally. You realize we no longer practice polygamy, nor have we since two centuries ago? That said, did you realize that polygamy is actually very common in much of the world including Africa, the Middle-East, and many other places and it mentioned throughout the Holy Bible. If you want to know what is up with that you'll have to ask God. Christ taught us to "feed my sheep" or in other words share the gospel, so we try to do so.
I kind of like these videos, I am not Mormon but a Roman Catholic. Mormons are just like everyone else, and Joy seems like a really rad girl. Most Mormons I have met have been very nice people. These videos show that they are out doing cool things and being a Mormon does not stop them. Their beliefs are different from mine, but so what!
These commercials are silly. We know Mormons are real people that do normal things. It's the Mormon doctrines, that people have a problem with, not how nice the people are or are not.
@manderbos actually we teach that we should follow the gospel of Jesus Christ which can be summed up by the two greatest commandments 1) Love God with all our heart, mind and soul and 2) Love our neighbor as ourselves. Which of these teachings to you have a problem with out of curiosity?
This video is about a normal girl who has dreams like everyone else. It's about what her life is, and that being mormon doesn't mean she can't live her life. I think so many people believe Latter Day Saints are these brainwashed, cookie cutter people who don't live their lives, which is so untrue. I doesn't matter how we live, as long as we're obeying and living the commandments of the Lord. It's so awesome that these Ï'm a Mormon' videos are being put out here!!
Hey, I'm all for the promotion of your personal faith and how it affects your life, but I'm not really sure how this involves denying others the same rights you enjoy.
@usingpond I am also all about allowing citizens of the United States of America their first amendment rights of free speech are you saying you are against this?
I was SUPER surprised to see this. That is my mission trainers wife. :D lol I like Drew's little appearance getting stuff out of the SUV. Way to go Joy. I haven't seen you guys in a while.
@DrPorterRockwell Who is getting hissy fits about Mormons? They are such a minority. I bet there's more protestants worried about them than other people. As long as they don't bang on my door early in the morning they don't bother me.
I don't understand can mormans say they are christians? After all... we believe in the same God right? One God... One son.... sent to save us from our sins that we can't escape because from the time of Adam and Eve we seperated ourself from a perfect God a God that can't live among us because of just one sin. Which is why we needed a savior so we can live with God he sent his word in flesh Jesus Christ and only through him we are saved right?
@garrettederer thanks again, I agree with you there is only one Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible and recorded in the New Testament showing His miraculous birth, life, ministry, miracles, atonement, crucifixion, death, resurrection and ascension into heaven. Yes we believe Christ is the cornerstone (this means all-important) piece of our doctrine and without Him that mankind nor this church would exist.
@Veritatis101 You seem like a really interesting person. I'm still trying to figure out where God's calling me in life but I'm really interested in a couple of preachers and evangulistic ministries of Dan Molher, Todd white and Curry Blake. All of which a friend introduced to me at college (all found on youtube). Do you see reasons why you'd rater be a morman then a just old testament and new testament person?
@garrettederer Absolutely and our faith is actually the Church of JESUS CHRIST of Latter-Day Saints, Mormon is simply been adopted as a nickname over the years. Yes because we have modern revelation, priesthood authority and the Book of Mormon - Another Testament of Jesus Christ, which only supports and strengthens both the Old and New Testaments and does not absolutely take away as some my tell you intentionally or not as it is false just as a chair without it's other legs can not stand.
I am very thankful for the teachings of the church and teachings of Jesus Christ and his gospel. My life would have little or no meaning without him. It has also given me a perspective to love all others unconditionally, even those who do not believe in following Jesus Christ or do not believe in God at all. However, personally I believe that doesn't mean He doesn't believe in them and all of his children. May we all learn to be happy and grateful for what we do have versus what we don't.
@Veritatis101 I love these! Love your peace and joy that I find in the church and especially the message of the good news of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ on the earth today. There is no more important message. I love my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ my life would mean nothing without Him. My prayer is that all may know His unconditional love, joy and peace.
"It is Christ Himself, not the Bible, who is the true Word of God. The Bible, read in the right spirit and with the guidance of good teachers, will bring us to Him." -C.S. Lewis [Letter (8 November 1952); published in Letters of C. S. Lewis (1966), p.247]
Hey guys, ok that you guys are having a good discussion about church, yeah, this might help some ppl but it's a 1 second statement on a 1 minute and 53 seconds video. Shouldn't we go back to what the video is about?
Hey Joy, way to go! Congrats for your achievements on surf and family. I believe that surf is a lot about family. Both thumbs up for you and your father.
@ericmattos I love this it shows what it is like being Mormon. We live in the same big old bad world as everyone else. We are all real people, with real challenges the fact that there are so many misinformed people about our actual teachings and beliefs shows the value of such clips as this of Joy and her willingness to share her testimony and and experiences.
@Veritatis101 It seemed kind of odd that she said nothing about religion or God, but just tacked on at the end that she was a Mormon. Was this intentional?
@RuinSonic actually it all depends upon your own perceptions, beliefs and standards of recognition what part God plays not only in her life but especially your own. She spoke of achieving goals and preparedness and to position yourself in right place life to make use of opportunities that come your way in life all teachings of Jesus Christ. She is not prideful but simply does her best with what she knows and loves life something her faith, being a Mormon, teaches as part of its doctrine.
@TyRafferty exactly the point being to see how one's faith can affect other and in fact all aspects of ones life. She had the moral compass and positive motivation to better herself without pride; ie mentioning her day-to-day life and how mundane and ordinary she was yet she is a world champion longboarder and part of this was due to her faith and family which were clearly very positive influences in her life.
@lemorpion1 no actually these are real people with real stories you can verify them if you choose. They personally have voluntarily chosen to share their life experiences with others there is nothing "fake" about them but it is an indicator that our society seems to be bombarded with so much marketing and see so much corruption both in the news and in our communities that I can see how it might be hard to believe there are people who simply try to live quiet lives of peaceful satification.
@ds12z interesting logic and what could be considered a taunt. If you had actually read the comments you'd have seen otherwise. However, believe it or not there are other reasons. Including keeping this channel family friendly and to filter out extreme profanity, also to allow insightful or thoughtful comments rather than bigoted/hateful ones. So amazingly-I know- there are other reasons besides choosing to approve comments besides choosing them simply because they agree with your own views.
Islam is also a religion of Abraham. It broke off of Judaism thousands of years before Jesus came along. Now look these two groups are at each others throats, what's to stop the same thing from happening to the Jews vs. Catholics vs. Baptists? Chasms grow in size over time. This is true in Earth erosion as well as religious erosion. I would rather burn in hell for eternity in a pit of molten toenail clippings then spend eternity praising the psychopathic God detailed in the Old Testament.
@baweery actually for the most part I agree with you. What I mean is that when it comes down to it what matters most is the individual not the organization Jesus Christ himself taught this. When we forget the individual we have lost sight of what really matters in the world.
@Mrphatbastard1 some would say putting too much dependence on anything indicates weakness but I don't that believe that always to be the case, it depends upon the situation and what you are referring to. Personally, I would much rather live religiously as an athlete than a couch potato, both could be considered obsessive but the side benefits of being an athlete (to me at least) far outweigh those of being a couch potato. Just saying.

@Davey850 I have no idea what you are referring to there is no such thing in what I "think" you may be referrring to which is the Book of Mormon (not Mormons). However, I might recomment the SyFy channel syfy dot com enjoy :-)
rofl... Mormons are just ripping off Scientologists by making "We're normal too!!" commercials. Check this out if you don't believe me:
/watch?v=hs3Kje7EsYQ
Organizations that teach the stuff that Mormonism and Scientology do have to spend millions of dollars on commercials like this just to try and convince others that they are sane. It is also interesting that these Mormon ads are being aired in sway states... Mitt Romney support, anyone?
Mormons (LDS.members) are followers of the Resurrected Jesus Christ. They've been blessed greatly & strive to be good citizens of each country that God has blessed them with. A lot of them are strong leaders in your communities. They teach your children in all levels of education, they coach sports & many of them are doctors & nurses in local major hospitals. Some are our elected policy makers not only in the US Gov, but in many others as well...Thanks for sharing these videos
@omiolo the entire point is and what I am sure you agree is ironic is that although we live in the so-called age of information so much of society still believes stereotypes, urban myths and misinformation. Some deliberately put out there by some and others mistakenly. I find most people simpley aren't familiar with our teachings, doctrines and beliefs and would mistakenly have judged us on what someone else has said rather than going to the source.
are you guys trying to improve mormons image around the world? Promote love and equality. all I know mormons for is for their belief in prop 8. Respect and equality for all even mormons. No h8te.
@santitos2001 if you were familiar with our organization then you would know we do more for the needy, after natural disasters and in third world countries than anyone except the US Government. All we teach is unconditional love and acceptance of all. However, that does not mean we have to agree with same sex marriage even though we agree with having the same legal rights. We just don't want the definition of the world changed from what it always has been. Freedom of speech. First amendment.
@Bonifratz thank you and good for you that is what is beautiful about America we have the first amendment rights to choose for ourselves and to have both freedom of religion and freedom of speech. I believe in the coming times all those who profess to follow the gospel of Jesus Christ need to stand together.
"A house divided against itself cannot stand.' -Abraham Lincoln
What does being a Mormon have to do with anything? It's kind of thrown in as a side note. Anyway, she inherited Mormonism from her dad.. Just because she's accomplished something good doesn't have anything to do with her dads religion. It seems like you're trying to promote Mormonism by highlight the more moderate tenants and beliefs of Mormonism which are similar to protestants etc. Why don't you make a video of the beliefs that make Mormonism different than other Christ religions? U don't dare
@tooosweeet actually she is able to speak for herself she is an adult. She has chosen of her own free will to make this video and does not seem to be coerced in way that I can tell. In fact, she looks pretty successful and happy with her life if you ask me. About the video of our beliefs already been done I suggest you go to the source at lds dot org or lds dot org there are even live representatives who can answer your honest questions. Oh kay we clearly do care or I would not have responded.
@GodSavesisthetruth well good question. We believe that we must all first accept Jesus Christ in his role as our saviour and make use of his atonement and example he was for all of us by living God's commandments. Of course all the commandments or laws all hinge upon the two greatest which are 1)To love God and to have no other Gods before Him and 2) To love our fellow human beings and to treat them as we would ourselves. Of course we must be baptized, honor our commitment to Christ unto the end
I feel it almost odd to have to say this but based upon some of the comments and obvious misconceptions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contrary to what some may think most of our members actually live outside of the United States and are non-Caucasian. Jesus Christ taught us that we are ALL brothers and sisters of our loving Heavenly Father and anyone who things differently or says differently has their own personal issues. I love my saviour Jesus Christ and am thankful.
@Veritatis101 1. She lives in the united states. 2. her dad is Caucasian, who married a pacific islander and spread his religion that that way. 3. because Mormons are often aggressive missionaries who try spreading their religion on everyone else, it's their excuse to travel and remain bigoted at the same time.
I wonder if my comments will be approved.. not likely..
@tooosweeet interesting you would call me bigoted when your comments emphasize her race which we don't care about, 1)we love and accept all people of all backgrounds unconditionally. 2)How do you know exactly what race her father is not everyone who appears one way is only of one race and what does it matter anyway? 3) your last point makes no sense at all you are just trying to say we are bigoted because you say we are and it is an excuse to travel? WTF? (What The Fetch? lol) who is the bigot?
@Veritatis101, I googled the following just for fun, "latter day saints begin accepting blacks in" clicked on the first link (sadly its an ex-mormon site) so i questioned the validity of their quotes. So i did a little more research. The summary is, the church was founded in April 6th year 1830, all people welcome, but blacks could not hold the priesthood or go to the temple, this kept going until September 30th year 1978 when the prophet Spencer W. Kimball received a revelation.
@9529180 good for you trying to learn that is always good but you make a good point you have to always consider your source. I can guarantee you can find any side of any issue if you look there is always someone who has an opposing view to anything, period. That is to be expected just as human nature, emotion and irrationality always tend to color and taint any viewpoint depending on said viewpoint. I always say stay as pure as you can and go to the source just as when finding a spring of water.
@Veritatis101, which in turn made it so that all worthy males could have the priesthood. So yes, LDS did always accept the black people, we just didn't let them take part of some of the most sacred covenants the church has to offer. Or is the temple not a big deal?
@9529180 Sorry finally had a chance to reply to a lot of comments as you can see. Real life does always have to take priority but I will do my best to respond to as many as possible. In answer to your question yes we always have accepted members and although for a time blacks were unable to hold the priesthood and were able to as of 1978; never ever was anyone denied the greatest blessings, if by following the teachings of Jesus Christ, of returning again to live with Heavenly Father, period.
@Veritatis101, but they couldn't seal their families together in the temple because they couldn't get it, so isn't that in a way denying them of at least one of the greatest blessings the church has to offer? And what about being able to give direct blessings to their sick children and stuff, that sounds to me like they were also being denied a huge blessing. I remember growing up in the church, the priesthood was a huge thing, extremely sacred.
@9529180 This did not mean however, they could not get priesthood blessings. It is important yet I can personally count the number of times I had such blessings on one hand growing up. All the members I knew were very excited and happy when everyone was finally able to hold the priesthood. That is one of those moments I consider comparable to when they used to say where were you when man first walked on the moon? It was a beautiful thing which I will always remember.
@9529180 allow me to add that Joseph Smith himself was ALWAYS against slavery of ANY human being. In fact, one of the reasons the church members were driven out of Missouri was the fear of the locals that they would prevent it from becoming a slave state as the Mormons were considered as Abolishionists. There were several former black slaves who followed the church west as they travelled across the country and finally settled in Utah. I have always been taught to love all people unconditionally
@Veritatis101, Alma 3:6-8. I dont want to speak for you, but that sounds to me like non-white people have tallies against them on God's records. They were marked so they wouldn't mix with God's people. Which makes the marked ones what? Not God's people. They told me we are born without sin, yet I carry the curse of my fathers in the eyes of my leaders. Its sad how little faith in the church I have left. How silly and narrow minded i have become
@9529180 well actually it sounds like you are trying to speak for me. If you want to talk to God about how and why he does some things I suggest you do so personally, all I can say is that our church teaches and has always taught unconditional love of all of God's children. If you are saying you are narrow-minded I guess that is your choice however, I would invite you to love all people regardless of race, religion, cultural heritage, sexual orientation, political affiliation, hobby, etc.
@Veritatis101, I dont include sexual orientation in that list. You know being other-than-straight in the church is not only unacceptable, but it is also punished by excommunication. There is no need to love people who don't agree with the set guidelines of the church. Either you're with the program or you're out, can't be playing with both the devil and God
@9529180 thank you for your comments by the way. I apologize if I didn't understand exactly what you were saying either. I would agree that Jesus Christ taught that homosexuality was/is a sin. The official church stand for those who claim same-sex attraction will not be excommunicated unless they act upon this by commiting a sexual act. I could understand this just as we will not excommunicate for thinking about adultery or fornication, but will for doing this as well.
@9529180 This statement bothers me........"There is no need to love people who don't agree with the set guidelines of the church" Jesus taught that love is the fulfillment of the law and that that is the highest law. Jesus was all about loving others and if we are His followers we should do the same.
@Veritatis101, I still nevertheless encourage most everyone to join the church and see if it brings them happiness because i know it works for some people. you can go ahead and erase all my comments, i was just getting out some frustrations i've had bottled up.
@9529180 no worries I completely understand. I was thinking I may just keep them up as they may help others who were wondering the same things. I agree that we don't always understand God's ways. Yet, it makes sense that we shouldn't always because he is doing so as God and it is not for us to question but to obey. That said, I have found answers to literally every question I have ever had about the church. And never, once has anything been taught that promoted hatred or bigotry of anyone.
I read thru the whole book of mormon a while back and can't recall anything about the healing properties of salt water. I guess it's o-k to gargle with it every once and a while tho'...
@vulfkhan @vulfkhan she is talking about salt water because she is a longboarder. Yes it's okay to gargle just don't drink it. Accidentally consuming small quantities of clean seawater is not harmful, especially if the seawater is consumed along with a larger quantity of fresh water. However, drinking seawater to maintain hydration is counterproductive; more water must be excreted to eliminate the salt (via urine) than the amount of water that is gained from drinking the seawater itself.
@vulfkhan Survival manuals consistently advise against drinking seawater. For example, the book "Medical Aspects of Harsh Environments" (Chapter 29 - Shipboard Medicine) presents a summary of 163 life raft voyages. The risk of death was 39% for those who drank seawater, compared to only 3% for those who did not drink seawater.
They can't sell people on the actual virtues of there stupid religion so they made a commercial that is totally unrelated to religion and put a tag line at the end. That's really sad. Tell them how you believe the Native Americans killed Jesus.
@bluecomedytv lol sorry that's not true funny I thought I had head it all. Nice try though :P Hmmmm that's truly a new one. Of course we believe Jesus Christ was crucified on the cross, died after which there were earthquakes and so on, he was buried and after three days was resurrected and after visiting the apostles and then ascended into heaven. Jesus Christ now lives at the right hand of God the Father! He lives!
@saviormachine I am sorry you had to make such a judgemental and bigoted comment we believe we are ALL children of God. Everyone is of value and worth. I have had many good Muslim friends. Personally, I have seen example of extremists take the FLDS for example. The media portray them as Mormons or members of our faith yet they ARE NOT. They are extremists who have chosen to interpret things their own way so I have to say it is best to love all unconditionally as Jesus Christ taught.
@Veritatis101 Well God instructed Israel to wipe off the face of the Earth the people who later became present-day Muslims (which Israel failed to do). So it's my belief that maybe they are not "God's children" and not in God's plan for salvation. Now I realize I could be wrong because obviously I'm not wise enough to know God's full plan, but I think this could explain why they are such a savage and draconic people.
@waterhands20 I have to wonder what you have heard, if I went by what I have seen many post on youtube or the internet that are not officially representing the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; I tell you that I would feel exactly the same way as you do.
What's the point? This is nothing about Mormonism. Anyone knows that Mormonism is just as idiotic as any Christian sect, which in turn is just as idiotic as any religion. What's the point of this?
@ThatsnewsTV I believe Heavenly Father created us ALL to have joy both in this life and the next. However, it doesn't mean it will be easy but I believe if we follow the teachings of Jesus Christ we can have more of both, that is joy both in this life and the next.
Mormons you gotta love 'em they are some of the kindest most sincere people I have ever met. Not saying they are all perfect, no one is, but the teachings are what actually taught me to love all my neighbors regardless of race, religion, sexual preference, cultural background, etc etc.
@mhl026 actually members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but we'll typically answer to that personally I prefer follower of Jesus Christ.
@kc1921 actually sorry to break it to you but you would be WRONG. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints recently helped to pass a series of reforms and laws that would allow same sex couples all the same legal rights. We simply don't want to change the definition of the word 'marriage' for the minority of homosexuals for the majority of the population. For all the name-calling we have recieved we teach unconditional love. However, this doesn't mean we have to always agree.

All of which a friend introduced to me at college (all found on youtube). Do you see reasons why you'd rater be a morman then a just old testament and new testament person?
garrettederer 9 months ago

RuinSonic 1 year ago

What must one do to become saved through Jesus Christ? And what is the core belief of mormonism?

GodSavesisthetruth 1 year ago
@GodSavesisthetruth well good question. We believe that we must all first accept Jesus Christ in his role as our saviour and make use of his atonement and example he was for all of us by living God's commandments. Of course all the commandments or laws all hinge upon the two greatest which are 1)To love God and to have no other Gods before Him and 2) To love our fellow human beings and to treat them as we would ourselves. Of course we must be baptized, honor our commitment to Christ unto the end
Veritatis101 1 year ago 6
I feel it almost odd to have to say this but based upon some of the comments and obvious misconceptions about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints contrary to what some may think most of our members actually live outside of the United States and are non-Caucasian. Jesus Christ taught us that we are ALL brothers and sisters of our loving Heavenly Father and anyone who things differently or says differently has their own personal issues. I love my saviour Jesus Christ and am thankful.
Veritatis101 1 year ago 17
@Veritatis101 1. She lives in the united states. 2. her dad is Caucasian, who married a pacific islander and spread his religion that that way. 3. because Mormons are often aggressive missionaries who try spreading their religion on everyone else, it's their excuse to travel and remain bigoted at the same time.
I wonder if my comments will be approved.. not likely..
tooosweeet 1 year ago
@tooosweeet interesting you would call me bigoted when your comments emphasize her race which we don't care about, 1)we love and accept all people of all backgrounds unconditionally. 2)How do you know exactly what race her father is not everyone who appears one way is only of one race and what does it matter anyway? 3) your last point makes no sense at all you are just trying to say we are bigoted because you say we are and it is an excuse to travel? WTF? (What The Fetch? lol) who is the bigot?

derubermax 1 year ago 4
@derubermax always have always will!
Veritatis101 1 year ago 3
@Veritatis101, I googled the following just for fun, "latter day saints begin accepting blacks in" clicked on the first link (sadly its an ex-mormon site) so i questioned the validity of their quotes. So i did a little more research. The summary is, the church was founded in April 6th year 1830, all people welcome, but blacks could not hold the priesthood or go to the temple, this kept going until September 30th year 1978 when the prophet Spencer W. Kimball received a revelation.
9529180 1 year ago
@9529180 good for you trying to learn that is always good but you make a good point you have to always consider your source. I can guarantee you can find any side of any issue if you look there is always someone who has an opposing view to anything, period. That is to be expected just as human nature, emotion and irrationality always tend to color and taint any viewpoint depending on said viewpoint. I always say stay as pure as you can and go to the source just as when finding a spring of water.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@Veritatis101, which in turn made it so that all worthy males could have the priesthood. So yes, LDS did always accept the black people, we just didn't let them take part of some of the most sacred covenants the church has to offer. Or is the temple not a big deal?
9529180 1 year ago
@9529180 Sorry finally had a chance to reply to a lot of comments as you can see. Real life does always have to take priority but I will do my best to respond to as many as possible. In answer to your question yes we always have accepted members and although for a time blacks were unable to hold the priesthood and were able to as of 1978; never ever was anyone denied the greatest blessings, if by following the teachings of Jesus Christ, of returning again to live with Heavenly Father, period.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@Veritatis101, but they couldn't seal their families together in the temple because they couldn't get it, so isn't that in a way denying them of at least one of the greatest blessings the church has to offer? And what about being able to give direct blessings to their sick children and stuff, that sounds to me like they were also being denied a huge blessing. I remember growing up in the church, the priesthood was a huge thing, extremely sacred.
9529180 1 year ago
@9529180 This did not mean however, they could not get priesthood blessings. It is important yet I can personally count the number of times I had such blessings on one hand growing up. All the members I knew were very excited and happy when everyone was finally able to hold the priesthood. That is one of those moments I consider comparable to when they used to say where were you when man first walked on the moon? It was a beautiful thing which I will always remember.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@9529180 allow me to add that Joseph Smith himself was ALWAYS against slavery of ANY human being. In fact, one of the reasons the church members were driven out of Missouri was the fear of the locals that they would prevent it from becoming a slave state as the Mormons were considered as Abolishionists. There were several former black slaves who followed the church west as they travelled across the country and finally settled in Utah. I have always been taught to love all people unconditionally
Veritatis101 1 year ago 2
@Veritatis101, Alma 3:6-8. I dont want to speak for you, but that sounds to me like non-white people have tallies against them on God's records. They were marked so they wouldn't mix with God's people. Which makes the marked ones what? Not God's people. They told me we are born without sin, yet I carry the curse of my fathers in the eyes of my leaders. Its sad how little faith in the church I have left. How silly and narrow minded i have become
9529180 1 year ago
@9529180 well actually it sounds like you are trying to speak for me. If you want to talk to God about how and why he does some things I suggest you do so personally, all I can say is that our church teaches and has always taught unconditional love of all of God's children. If you are saying you are narrow-minded I guess that is your choice however, I would invite you to love all people regardless of race, religion, cultural heritage, sexual orientation, political affiliation, hobby, etc.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@Veritatis101, I dont include sexual orientation in that list. You know being other-than-straight in the church is not only unacceptable, but it is also punished by excommunication. There is no need to love people who don't agree with the set guidelines of the church. Either you're with the program or you're out, can't be playing with both the devil and God
9529180 1 year ago
@9529180 thank you for your comments by the way. I apologize if I didn't understand exactly what you were saying either. I would agree that Jesus Christ taught that homosexuality was/is a sin. The official church stand for those who claim same-sex attraction will not be excommunicated unless they act upon this by commiting a sexual act. I could understand this just as we will not excommunicate for thinking about adultery or fornication, but will for doing this as well.
Veritatis101 1 year ago 4
@9529180 This statement bothers me........"There is no need to love people who don't agree with the set guidelines of the church" Jesus taught that love is the fulfillment of the law and that that is the highest law. Jesus was all about loving others and if we are His followers we should do the same.
blushrush08 1 year ago
@Veritatis101, I still nevertheless encourage most everyone to join the church and see if it brings them happiness because i know it works for some people. you can go ahead and erase all my comments, i was just getting out some frustrations i've had bottled up.
9529180 1 year ago 2
@9529180 no worries I completely understand. I was thinking I may just keep them up as they may help others who were wondering the same things. I agree that we don't always understand God's ways. Yet, it makes sense that we shouldn't always because he is doing so as God and it is not for us to question but to obey. That said, I have found answers to literally every question I have ever had about the church. And never, once has anything been taught that promoted hatred or bigotry of anyone.

I read thru the whole book of mormon a while back and can't recall anything about the healing properties of salt water. I guess it's o-k to gargle with it every once and a while tho'...
vulfkhan 1 year ago
@vulfkhan @vulfkhan she is talking about salt water because she is a longboarder. Yes it's okay to gargle just don't drink it. Accidentally consuming small quantities of clean seawater is not harmful, especially if the seawater is consumed along with a larger quantity of fresh water. However, drinking seawater to maintain hydration is counterproductive; more water must be excreted to eliminate the salt (via urine) than the amount of water that is gained from drinking the seawater itself.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@vulfkhan Survival manuals consistently advise against drinking seawater. For example, the book "Medical Aspects of Harsh Environments" (Chapter 29 - Shipboard Medicine) presents a summary of 163 life raft voyages. The risk of death was 39% for those who drank seawater, compared to only 3% for those who did not drink seawater.

They are extremists who have chosen to interpret things their own way so I have to say it is best to love all unconditionally as Jesus Christ taught.
Veritatis101 1 year ago
@Veritatis101 Well God instructed Israel to wipe off the face of the Earth the people who later became present-day Muslims (which Israel failed to do). So it's my belief that maybe they are not "God's children" and not in God's plan for salvation. For all the name-calling we have recieved we teach unconditional love. However, this doesn't mean we have to always agree.
