I love how the song seems to tell a story through its course. Its of a woman who shows compassion to the fallen, distraught, and filthy. And its of her loyal guard, protecting her through think and thin - doing anything to please his mistress, and his mistress alone. Its beautiful song and I greatly thank you for extending it good sir!

A purest maiden who saw the truth of the God and vowed to help as it would not. Having to take on the might of a demon, forever baring herself in the pitiful swamp of defile, giving everything. All of this so that she may serve those rejected by the world, to accept the unloved and rejoice the unforgiven. Even in the end, after she knew you wouldn't give up, she gave herself to you.

Maiden Astraea was the one who ever truly achieved "demon" status. Allant was basically a replica and the monk was controlled by the garb.

@Lordsteven125 in some way's it is harder. It has a more genuine feel to it, and it is in some ways less restrictive when it comes to location. However, its music tracks (while wonderful) are fairly few in greatness (this, firelurker, armor knight, and the good guy credit scene are my favorites). It also has far fewer weapons:(.

Anyway, both are amazing games. some things in dark souls arn't in demon souls, and vice versa.

maiden astraea was actually the most impure demon of them all because she soaked up all the evil in the valley of devilement in an attempt to cleanse it, but she did not have enough power and the corruption gained the overhand. so astraea wanted more power and so taking in the soul of a demon. her good intents became fatal to her humanity. i felt really awefull when i had to kill her

Of course, you have to. The only way to end everything is to get to the old one, right? The archdemons actually slowly feed the old one souls, even if they don't intend it. So the only way to draw him out is to kill the archdemons, and Astraea knew this when she decided to become a demon. So in a way, she was helping aid the old one, even without the intention, thus why she must die.

Dark souls is more of a constant fight of wandering to search your path to your destiny. But its very empty storywise, when I walk through that world I don't really feel much remorse for my action because everyone seems to not really like you. No scenes is any heart wreching or anything.

If they put a better story and such as they did in Demon's souls just better and improved with the gameplay of Dark Souls they would make the best game of the decade. I can assure you that.

@donteros Both games have the same amount of story, you just have to look deep enough to find it. Like some of the really special weapons, spells, and items will give you clues to the history of people you fight or will fight. The other part of the story can be found in dialog, but it is really hidden, and so might take a bit to really find, this also goes for certain quests too.

@jonsandersgame Sif really gets me, especially as he starts limping and falling down. It's then that you realize that you are the bad guy. Sif is just defending Artorias. The pure malice I have had for myself whilst playing Dark Souls is truly remarkable, and something every game should aim to accomplish.
