  • this looks like the cdi version which i have one of the best ports of the game

  • You know, they've released all three Mad Dog games on a compalation disk on the Wii. It's called "Mad Dog McCree," Of course.

  • Another game that I have for the 3DO that I've never tried. I have played the arcade version though. A long time ago. But in THIS galaxy unfortunately. I think the one released in other galaxies might have been better acted. lol.

    STAY AWESOME mate! :)

  • @cessnaace I've got the 3DO version myself, it's grainy as hell compared to the CD-i version. Phillips little grey box may have been crap for games, but any FMV stuff it was easily on par with DVD.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope The CD-i and I have never met. lol.

There was an MPEG-1 decoder for the 3DO, which allows the playing of VCDs but I never got one. But back to the subject at hand. Grainy video. Something the Sega CD is guilty of as well.

    STAY AWESOME mate! :)

  • @cessnaace The Sega CD was possibly one of the worst ever machines for FMV. In reality, Sega should have combined the power of the 32X into the Sega CD. If that had happened it may have been an entirely different story!!!

  • @ScrewAttackEurope Wasn't that what the cancelled Neptune was supposed to be? I don't think Sega could have supported the Neptune AND the Saturn, as it appears they were planning.

    STAY AWESOME mate! :)

  • @cessnaace The Neptune was a 32X/Genesis combines, no CD add-on. and the 32X was called the Mars at one point, infact if you open the cart port and look inside, it says "Mars" still!

  • @ScrewAttackEurope That's the first I've heard of the Mars. Good thing Sega stopped naming systems after planets with the Saturn. Having the Sega Uranus just wouldn't have been as awesome as the Sega Dreamcast, although Katana may have been their coolest choice.

I think the Jaguar was one of the coolest names given to a console, not that it helped Atari sell consoles much.

    STAY AWESOME mate! :)

  • @cessnaace Indeed, anything named after a vicious animal or a cool weapon is automatically cool. Sega also named their Saturn based arcade machines "Titan" (one of Saturn's moons)

But I think what stopped them was Sony's PS1 ad, "If you want a Saturn, your head must be in Uranus" :D

Dreamcast is possibly the second worst name for a console in history (after the Wii) I mean Dreamcast sounds like some kind of Hippy paraphernalia.

  • @ScrewAttackEurope Well, you have to admit that the name wii hasn't hurt sales of the system much. In the U.S. at least. Here wii outsells the other systems.

Was that PS1 ad you mentioned for real? Sounds like your sense of humor to me. :)

I seem to remember one of the gaming magazines showing a pic of a fake Sega console. It had an add on for the Dreamcast that looked like the 32X. . I think they called it the Sega Uranus. :)

    STAY AWESOME! :)

  • Red dead redemption Wii

  • Wait, since when did this get a Wii release?

  • Came out last year, it was a budget game too, so you can pick it up pretty cheaply.

  • Didnt realise this got a Mega CD release Larry, nice one for mentioning that :)

  • Yeah, but it looks awful on the Mega CD, really grainy.

The CD-i version was ironically the best version (probably bett than the Wii one that came out last year even).

  • I remember playing this game on the CD-i when I was a kid. Ah memories.

  • Yeah, that's the version we used for this video!

  • ha ha luved this game played it at alton towers in da 90s lol

  • YEEHAR COW BOI

  • Played this at a BullWinkles @ age 9. Had no idea about laserdisc being used. Always wondered how they got the video so god damn good. "Musta been extra large ROM chips", I thought.

  • I played this game at the arcade but I never went past the entrance of the damn mine. I mean there was dynamite explosing and I had no idea what the fuck to do.

  • You probably skipped a scene or played them in the wrong order from memory.

  • @SteveSmith26 You had to shoot the fuse before it burned all the way to the dynamite. At least, that's all I remember.

  • I was just at a GameCrazy and stumbled into this game on the Wii that has a collection of 3 Mad Dog games. It was used but the disk looked brand new. I assume they game was returned 10minutes after it was purchased.

  • coral island blackpool circa 1992, ahh nostalgia

  • I played it on my Amiga 1200 with a Macintosh emulator :)

  • love this game to

  • got i love this arcade game

  • Did you ever do the upside down gun trick?

  • i don't think so...next time i see it i will try.

  • Sweet, I must admit I've not seen a machine for years. I saw a Johnny Rock one a while back, but not a MDMc one.

  • yeh...it was at my local roller rost II (a skateing ring with a arcade)

  • ESRB rating leaked the arcade for the Wii. Look it up on google search for "Mad-Dog-McCree Wii".

  • Interesting...

  • WHOA. i had this on pc. i actually won it a few times (remember, "he wears a bullet proof vest!"). i was very excited for a 6 yr old girl playing a shooting game.1 part was always severely pixelated, and after awhile i just learned what area of the screen to shoot at b/c i couldnt make out any faces/bodies. i also got really excited whenever i could hit the cow skulls and spittoons (more lives and bullets) fast enough AND still hit the bad guys. i also love the cheesiness.

  • Lol, memories hey?

You know you can buy a version to play on your DVD player now? You use the DVD remote to move the pointer.

  • looks like you...BANG!

  • i was laughing for minutes because of that :D

  • lol, Wez was recording the footage fro this video and he was getting pissed off dying all the time.

But he thought he'd add it, as it's the sort of thing you start doing when you get pissed off from dying over and over, hammering the buttons screaming "COME ON!!!"

  • Lol I have this game for the PC

  • Man this game looks terrible

  • YEEHAR STRANGER

  • oh god, i played the arcade version in the isle of wight, i think it was broken as i couldnt die or reach gameover i only put in a pound! it wouldnt stop! it wanted me to keep playing, in the end i though bugger it, id rather loose a pound than my sanity and left the machine to do whatever it does when you leave the gun and get shot alot,

it,...it just kept going, i couldnt die! IT WAS HORRIBLE!!!

hem, anyway theres a machine in the isle of whight if you ever cared?

  • Really? Where abouts on the Isle of Wight was it? I used to go on holiday a lot there in the early/mid 90's. so chances are I might have seen it too.

  • its in an amusement park called black gang chine

yeah i dont get the name either, but if you see a giant lumberjack outside your in the right place, theres a cowboy part of the park where hidden in one of the stall (the jail maby)

the game is there, i couldnt die, it was horrible i was there 15 minutes before i just walked away lol, anyway if you find it, see how long you can keep your sanity mine was 15 minutes

  • Is that the place where theres a chairlift thing that goes right over the cliff?

I definetly know the place, just trying to remember it, its been so long since I last went.

  • no thats needless ive been there too, the cue was to long so i didnt go on the chairlift lol

black gang chine is next to a dinosaur museum and right infront theres a 10 meter lumberjack,

just ask the locals next time you go, they should no where it is, and i think theres some signs aswell, just remember the lumberjack ;)

  • I seen this in Holiday World in the early 90s; it seemed like the video game of the future in those days!

  • I think thats one of the reasons why console makers were releasing CD based machines as add-ons in the early 90's.

I mean to them you could never get better graphics than real life! Even if they were really grainy and had less colours.

  • not to mention that they would be prone to being campy for the most part

  • I've played this before but on the PC years ago.

  • I remember the arcade down the road having it for 80cent (australian.)

the other day i went down and i asked if they still had it and they did, packed up.

they said come around soon and we might have it set up.

    im hooked on it.

i passed it now you told me about the upside down thing.

the person who runs the shop asked me what i was doing and he was amazed(i told him i figured it out years ago)

  • Ah well done, get all the credit for my hard work! You could have spammed my video to him! :D

  • I am absolutley loving this game. Got hooked years ago in the arcade, like to play it at home but got the idea that the version i have (CDi) freezes too much. Everytime i shoot it takes about a second for the game to continue... don't remember the arcade being like that. Any of you know about this? I would like to buy a complete working arcade machine in the future, anyone know where to find one?

  • The CD-i version freezes to compensate for using a pad, so the user can get the cursor over to the enemy, all the other versions i've played, even the DVD one dosn't do that.

  • As for buying one, best bet would be eBay, other than that theres a few retailers/refurbishers out there on the web that sell to th epublic, though they can be a bit pricey.

  • Thanks for the response! Right... but i am using an official Lightgun, but you stay it will keep adjusting to gamepad input? What is a good way to imitate the arcade feel, any suggestions for platform/hardware? 3DO machine or so?

  • No problemmo, the pad input should rectify it, as for other versions, the CD-i had the best visual quality of all formats (as it used the Video card) I've got the second one on the 3DO and it looks really grainy, far lower quality.

  • at 1:43 is that blood ?_?

  • I saw this in an arcade...unfortunatly it was bust.Everytime the old man got shot the dam thing froze.

  • sounds like a scratched laserdisc, they must have not taken the disc out while transporting it.

  • This game is hilarious. The acting is horrible. The PC ports of the American Laser games are pretty cool. I also have the gun that plugs into the parallel port.

  • Does it still work with modern versions of Windows?

  • I am not sure on that. I can check it out for you. I still have my original PC, so I haven't had the need to try it on a modern system. But there are lots of American Laser PC games just like Mad Dog. Space Pirates, Who Shot Johnny Rock, Crime Patrol, Bounty Hunter.

  • Yee-haw Cowboy! WAHAHAH that cracked me up.

  • LMAO, cheers, that was a bit that was added adlib in the end ^_^

  • I remember playing this game in the arcade shortly after it came out. It cost a fricking DOLLAR to play!

  • Yeah I remember it being really expensive as well, they probably thought it's worth more because it was more than a standard joystick cabinet.

  • I actually have this for PS2. It came with an edition of PSW magazine

  • It's the DVD version you got dude, my friend got the same issue.

  • It's pretty good. I remember when I was a kid thinking the graphics were amazing at the Arcades. Ha-ha. The Bartender guy's shit acting at 1:58 makes me laugh to this day. The way he says it all calm, like. Lmfao. Mad Dog McCree 2 was alright too. CHOOZE UR GUY'D. The Undertaker was a Legend!

  • Great video Larry!!!! Your reviews are awesome!!!!

  • Cheers bud! :D

  • Talkin about unintentionally funny.

I found those Laserdisc games very interesting, since I first saw Dragon´s Lair.

  • I remember the arcade of this really well. Thought it was groundbreaking. "INTERACTIVEMOVIELOL!", I'd shout

  • Heh heh. This came with our first computer, our ol' Windows 3.1. I knew there were a lot of ports (and a sequel), but never knew it got it's start in the arcades.

I thought it was pretty decent. Of course, I was still too young to realize how cheesy it may have been. Not sure if I got rid of it after cleaning out our old computer stuff, though...

The most fun my brother had with the game though was when I accidentally typed "Naddog" at the DOS prompt.

  • ...And then there was the sequel...

  • Hah! Not long ago, I dug up my copy of this and gave it a playthrough. (It got a PC port as well, oddly.)

Crapload easier to aim with the mouse than it was with the damn light rifle in the arcade version, too.

  • Fuck yes another Retro Corner Fantastic job Larry and nice impression at the begining of the video

  • Why the hell are you all obsessed with how attractive (or not) that girl is, it's hardly crucial to the review, or the game for that matter!

Another great GLRC vid, though I have to say, Games That Yanks Can't Wank is my favourite :)

  • Cheers Tim! :D

  • Because they prefer barnyard animals. She's no Jessica Alba, but she's not ugly in any sense of the word.

I remember this game was being planned for the never releases SNES CD... why they would allow such crap on there I'll never know. It's too bad they never made the add-on though.

  • oh my god that girl is fuck ugly as for this as a laserdisc game id still play dragon's lair anyday

  • Really? - I'd split her in two. Lol.

  • what an ugly girl

  • O.O, wow, this is one weird game
