  • yes waste ur time teaching dumbasses how to count

  • omg marry me

  • For all n> 1, there is a prime number (p1) such that:

    2n <p1 <3n, and another cousin (p2) such that: 3n <p2 <4n

    example:

    8 <11 <12

    12 <13 <16

This is known as the generalized conjecture Bertrand postulate.

  • to shorten it down a prime number is something that isn't a multiple of something else only its own multiples.

  • Thx ! So its just 2 thats an even # just asking :-)

  • @13Maaka sorry, we remove curse words from our comment stream. However, if you want to learn more about factors, our main site has nice videos to help clear up any confusion. Just sign up and then check out how you can get your questions answered while watching videos!

  • Wtf is a factor? And ytf can't it go in four??!

  • @hathwit7 You can build up numbers by multiplying smaller numbers together. For example, you can build up 12 as 2 times 6, or 3 times 4. Those smaller numbers that multiply together to give you the bigger number are factors of the bigger number.

Your question is a good example of why we built our main site. With youtube, you may have a question like "what is a factor", but there is no clear way to answer that question. On our site, we have direct links to common questions to help you learn:)

  • @hathwit7 LMAO

  • @hathwit7 factors are like saying the factors that add up to 4 are like 2 plus 2

  • @hathwit7 It just means divisible by. i.e. 4 is not only divisible by 4 and 1, but also 2. I don't know why they can't just say "divisible by" at any stage during this clip, or even responding to you.

  • No I don't have other things to do please keep going. I am trying to get into the Air Force and I can sure use all the help with the math.

  • Also, if you're looking for an alternative method that's free, because i firmly believe all knowledge should be shared free, the Khan Academy organization which can be searched on google, is a new movement that has thousands of videos, lessons, achievements, and records all your lessons.

Khan Academy, it's really helped everyone i know who's used it.

  • Her overly positive attitude would drive me crazy, I am so glad to not have her as a teacher.

  • This is well explained for who doesn't know what a prime number is. It is a bit simpler than I expected though. But still, I like your work.

  • This is a prime example of why numbers should be a factor in our society.

  • thank you I got the picture

  • If you're looking for a revolutionary new way to visualize the distribution of prime numbers (and especially the twin primes), check out (google) the Croft Spiral Sieve.

  • I love the way you teach. Very clear, to the point ...Very helpful

  • I do think you might enjoy the following News Flash: The Largest Prime Number has escaped. Authorities briefly had it in custody, but it shattered the jailhouse to smithereens and stalked off into the night. If you see this Mathematical Monster, you are hallucinating! Get help immediately!

  • thanks mate this helps me a lot for my exam tmr :)

  • Could you pls help my daughter in finding out if a larger number say 599 is prime number or not. Is there some formula that can be taught?

  • @binasheikh1974 That's a great question. Prime numbers are a bit of a mystery, because no one has figured out a formula for finding prime numbers, but there is a strategy that works well. The key is to try to factor the number, and see if it has factors other than 1 and itself. If it doesn't then it's a prime number! For 599 you just check the factors from 1 to 24 (up to square root of 599). Check out our website for more about factors. Search for virtualnerd online, and you'll find us:)

  • @binasheikh1974 I have created a c program for my computer programming class that you can run to see if that number is a prime number... it goes up to like 99999 digits i think, as much as ur computer memory can handle :)

who ever wants email me... its an easy program to make but i can send u it.

  • omg i understand it now!!! i couldnt get prime number but i was really advanced in everything else lol THXXXX :DDDD
