@imkultra Gotta admit - the solo on this is a spine tingler, & it's always guaranteed to moisten these eyes of mine. Captain deserves a lot more credit than he gets, as he's a brilliantly gifted guitarist. Respect to Mr Burns!
@clearvuentertainment I will do mate, for sure..usually bump into him comin back from the corner shop every now and then - seen him at a gig last month..a band called Inner City Unit were playing a benefit, and when they played Hawkwind classic "Master of the Universe",up jumps The Captain on guitar, much to the audience's delight ;)
@MrTulip65 lucky. I've been a fan since the 80's. Closest I ever got to seeing the Captain and The Damned was in 1984, if memory serves. They were coming to Ottawa. Had my tickets and everything. They cancelled that leg of the tour. Story goes, the band took the cash advance for the tour and ran!! Oh well... this song is one of my favorites. I've always loved the Captain's guitar solo, find it moving.
Captain has got to be THE most underrated guitarist in the whole fuckin world!! Feel sad for him. I'd love to see him in a shoot out with better known guitarists like Mr Clapton and the likes. He'd fuckin slay them!!
@pongtubepete you know m8? I was just thinking that the other day. I think its cocktail of raw talent and his unique personal energy, just a shame the Capos' best work is sometimes shadowed by the track, like this one, which if you have Smash It Up (the Anthology) comes too close to the end, cos it really is capable of rasing the haires on the back of my neck every time I hear it. Pure magic. Nuff said.
This is my favorite guitar solo of all time.

But the Captain's outfit is silly. I dislike that.

I weeped until my eyes were dry and through another song the Damned played. Pity a world so lost in the culture of copy cats. Damned until death.

This is one of those classic Damned songs they didn't do live back then...
