Or fucked up breeding. It's cruel to make an animal's organs and bone structures so crippled. They can't even live a normal life. This practice disgusts me. There is nothing tasteful about it.
These goldfish are not cripples. Goldfish only become crippled when kept in improper environments (less than 10 gallons at least per fancy goldfish) and the body stops growing, but the organs continue to grow. These goldfish are obviously well cared for. You want someone to yell at, yell at the idiots who keep their goldfish in bowls and do no research before they get pets.
can anyone tell me how long it takes for the hump of a ryukin to develop, my ryukin is 1.5 in. long and doesnt have much of a hump, so can someone tell me how long before he starts having a prominent hump?

Those are monsters! beautiful looking fish. They must have been judged in asia, I know here in the states they prefer the Ryukin to have larger fins.

I suspect certain colour combinations rather than one particular colour.

i think they are born either with or without it.
maybe your ryukin isn't born with such a prominent hump?

The hump is made of muscle, feed it blood worms and other proteien rich foods to promote the "hump" growth.
