How about airline pilots? Regional airline pilots in the USA get paid shit wages, some start at 16k a year! You may never make it to the Major airline level to get paid well when the economy is depressed and the Major airlines are shrinking in workforce and farm their work out to lower cost regional airlines.

Without Pilot unions, all pilots would get paid shit wages, forever. Unions are only as strong as the elected reps within the ranks!

Thats where your wrong. Free market value dictates every employees wage except the CEO of the companies who get paid 500% more than their labor. While a company may be enjoying record profits, they continue to decrease wage and benefits to the labor class. NOT FAIR. If companies could replace all work with slave labor, they would with out batting an eye! Companies DO NOT have the employees best interests at heart! A divided work force equals weakness hence the need for unions

Even if the CEO leads the company to complete bankruptcy and demise, these same CEO's are still making millions in "bonuses" and have a golden parachute to live off of when the company fails. Now the average worker who invested 40 years of honest hard work is left with nothing because of the actions of the CEO's. No retirement, no pension, no bonus and no stock options. Look at the financial sector and airline sector in the USA of how CEO's ruined lives.
