  • This was really the Golden Age of Television, soo much better than the junk that is on today witha bunch of untalented no bodies!

  • If you have many of the Playhouse 90, how about posting Alas Babylon? I can't find it anywhere.

  • remember when tv used to not fucking bombard you with commercials every 15 minutes?

  • Actually, 'priest', CBS Television City was about four years old when "PLAYHOUSE 90" began originating from there. It was scheduled on Thursday nights at 9:30pm(et). Rod Serling didn't write any "science fiction" or "fantasy" scripts during his tenure with the series, 'onn', but when he produced six episodes of "THE TWILIGHT ZONE" on videotape at Television City during the 1960-'61 season, they tended to LOOK like half-hour versions of "PLAYHOUSE 90"...

  • Broadcast from the brand new CBS Television City in Hollywood.

  • I hope to God you will would post the entire program, and other Playhouse 90's...

  • Now thats what i call classic television Long before the days of made for TV movies & Mini-Series. At least it's a lot more better than today's excrement like The Cleveland show, & Keeping up with the Kardashians. I wish i was in the days When good old Classic TV was so memorable.

  • The rotating star animation, shown here, may have been the inspiration for a type of giant neon ornament, called a Roto-Sphere. These neon fabrications were also sometimes called Sputniks.

  • Ray Danton! Secret Agent Super Dragon himself.

  • Before Christie Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs, Naomi Campbell and Tyra Banks, there was Suzy Parker.

  • @Juliaflo

How true! One of the first (if not THE first) super models. And a pretty good actress too! She later had a very long & happy marriage to actor Bradford Dillman. She has since passed away but will always be missed!

  • @Juliaflo Ain't it the truth!?

  • Why don't they show it on some rerun show like TV Land? If it's considered a classic, bring it! I want to find out about it.

  • I've always loved the theme music. It reminds me of "The High and the Mighty" theme.

  • PLAYHOUSE 90 one of my alltime favorites ever. 1956-61 GOLDEN YEARS of TELEVISION. Mr Ed is tv PLAYHOUSE 90 is television. its coming out in Nov on dvd. thank God. Best in acting scriot and production . we need more quality television these days like this. i lived thru those years. like many of you. this series is too PERFECT to be condemned or critized. enjoy it objectively please. TELEVISION at its BESt I assure you. thanks fans. TOMK a man who knows what he says.

  • This was a special one hour & 30 minutes. I'd always put aside whatever I was doing to see these great LIVE dramatic shows. Loved that intro - there was something magical to it.

Thanx for telling me they're on DVD - haven't come across any yet.

  • I have the same feeling about the 70's ABC Movie of the Week intro. I can see how you appreciate it this, it seems so classy.

  • Wasn't there also a traffic jam headlight intro?

  • I was 3 at the time and I remmbered his show-Great production

  • "Fromthesidelines", this show has nothing to do with "Mighty Mouse Playhouse". Both "Mighty Mouse Playhouse" and "Playhouse 90" are the same title under the word "Playhouse" in its name.

"Mighty Mouse Playhouse" has the theatrical Mighty Mouse episodes on TV in its rotation and "Playhouse 90" has one episode per week for drama.

Both of these had the same title.

  • I have many of the Playhouse 90 on DVD. Thanks for your interest.

  • Wow! Jake Palance looks like a matador. - I'm a big Twilight Zone fan - Sterling was a writer on this show - Is this anything like Twilight Zone?

  • where do you get these episodes, i'd love to get p90

  • This is gorgeous. Been looking for these credits for a long time. I think there's even a slightly longer version of this animation, with a pan through the starry sky before resting on the twirling star which comes forward. How did you find this? It looks restored.

  • Did you ever find the longer version?

  • Nah-- my one time seeing it was at the Museum of Film & Television in NY. I viewed a kinescope from the first season- which included the commercials and station ID. I didn't know what it was at first, 'cause the starry images could've just as easily been from a science documentary. But then that Alex North fanfare booms with the P90 rushing at the camera, OMG!! When television shows were events.

  • I think the world started ending when Bill Paley stepped down at CBS.
