@DJKeatson You don't know anything, all ircs are usually linked to an IRC botnet. This is the creation of a shell or also known as DoS but because of the botnet it would be a DDoS. Don't try to act smart, and the owner of an IRC pretty much has full remote control over the other computer.

You can only get DDOS'ED if you have IRC/VENT/SKYPE/any grabbable ip programs. If your a regular runescape player playing off of the default runescape page. You cant be DDOS'ED it is IMPOSSIBLE to get an ip directly from RUNESCAPE.

I killed a Doser once he tryed to get my pixels in a noarm fight, i know he had my ip and he was tryeing to dos cuz he hates me i killed him while he was setting up hes program, but on next fight he was there with 0 item and dosed me for 200k while i was fighting other guy, all i can say is some nerds ruin irl law for pixels

Don't use Vent/IRC or so when Pking, very easy to DoS someone once you have their IP, which is very easy to obtain in both programs.
