Inline is one of the least efficient arrangements for a reciprocating engine. Flat engines are one of the best arrangements for cars because of keeping the center of gravity lower and having opposed cylinders is very efficient for power making. Point me towards a straight 6 under 8.0 liters that can make 9000 hp or more.

@KristoffersonPT the only way you can accurately measure horsepower is by the calculation of torque of a period of time, and you example of 1800 ft lbs and 400 hp is basically saying the motor doesnt rev high. yet again torque is horsepower measured of time. the same motor of 1800 ft lbs for example may have 3 different rpm ranges. the slow motor will produce 400 the next will produce 500 and 600 for the next. the constant is the torque. there for horsepower doesnt exist.

@zooders It doesn't, you just said that the German team is making 6000 when top fuel v8's are good for up to 9000 or even more, so much they cant even accurately nail it down. Inline is one of the least efficient arrangements for a reciprocating engine. Flat engines are one of the best arrangements for cars because of keeping the center of gravity lower and having opposed cylinders is very efficient for power making. Point me towards a straight 6 under 8.0 liters that can make 9000 hp or more.

Horsepower doesnt really exist, it is a mere calculation of torque, hence if you have more torque you will have more horsepower. the given time can be calculated off of RPM range. Example. most F1 motors rev to around 18,900 rpm. have 900 horsepower, but only 245 pounds of torque. understand at all?

@KristoffersonPT the only way you can accurately measure horsepower is by the calculation of torque of a period of time, and you example of 1800 ft lbs and 400 hp is basically saying the motor doesnt rev high. yet again torque is horsepower measured of time. the same motor of 1800 ft lbs for example may have 3 different rpm ranges. the slow motor will produce 400 the next will produce 500 and 600 for the next. the constant is the torque. there for horsepower doesnt exist.

Sorry dude ive asked multiple times for the proof on this 8 liter straight six making more horsepower than a top fuel v8. anyways a 8 liter straight six would be so long, and thats why no one uses that big of straight sixes.

@zooders you want an accurate answer they make around 3-4 thousand horsepower roughly, a typical top fuel motor makes 9000 on a really good day if you removed the super charger and went with turbos it would make 10,500 maybe 11,000 because of the belt not being driven, a full on injected nitro a dragster in the top alcohol class might make 5-6000 on a really good day so be quiet and go back to your delusions somewhere else.

I believe that there is no replacement for displacement but it's only as effective as the technology which manages it. Otherwise these engines your referring to are horribly inefficient. @dart68gts i didnt say the japs make a 5 liter the most popular v8 that people modify is an american built 5 liter v8. the most ive seen out of them is about 2200 hp. sure you can go bigger. but what i said was from a 2.6 inline 6 ive seen over 1500 hp. so if you double 2.6 liters you get 5.2 double the power you get 3000k where as a 5.2 liter american built v8 will get you 2500hp. how is 2500 dominating 3000 again? and you call me an idiot yet you cannot string together a coherent statement
