This version by these three VERY talent pasionate musician/artist is by FAR the best out there. Period. Way ta go Jordan, Jared and Barrett! The tempo is right, the coloring is nice, the acting is not over-done and the overall musicianship is tops.

Kevin. . .you three did a solid job. . .not an easy tune to sing, especially as a small ensemble. The three of you have strong voices - but if I were to be critical, I would say that it's more than just hitting notes and singing properly. Coloring is a key component when it comes to the passion and emotion of the song. Take a listen to your version and then this one and be as critical as you can. But be encouraged, you guys did a fine job, and you have a big talent for such a young age!

As for this 'Catawba' competition, just ignore them. I went and watched their version after reading this drama, and they are just bitter because your trio was much more impressive. You aren't winning a Tony for your standard musical revue staging, and neither are they. It works very well with this piece, and I am not shocked that two schools doing the same song had similar staging.

I can't wait to see you Elon-ers at SETC next year. You always make me smile :)

What the hell is catawba??

a small private college about an hour away from elon university. it is consistently ranked as one of the nation's top 10 theatre schools, but goes unnoticed because we are so much smaller. the school has an intensive acting program whereas elon has an intensive singing program. generally both schools have the largest turnouts and employment rates at major national cattle call auditions such as UPTA and SETC. we are also sans the glossy folders (if you've been, then you know what i mean)

ahhh...i sense some tension between the two schools. To bad, I don't know much about either school but it seems like Catawba is attacking Elon here...completely unnecessary in my opinion. If both schools are so close, they should be working together, not bashing each other.

no no, it's not like that at all. the two schools usually do get along very well. there's just some misunderstanding concerning the origin of the "innovative blocking" for this version of can't i just be.

overall, nobody really cares either way. both schools are highly reputable but emphasize two entirely different schools of thought. when it comes to partying together, though, we throw down together!
