  • R.I.P. Joe you are missed

  • You died too young Joe.

  • everytime I see this I picture Joe playing it at the Occupy Wall Street protest

  • this is a very decent, very touching video. i recently went through all of the clash and joe strummer & the mescaleros recordings i own, and have finally watched 'the future is unwritten' and 'westway to the world'. both are amazing chronicles of one of the best and most significant bands of any age and its frontman, a rarely passionate and convincing artist and thinker. dear joe, we owe you so much.

  • brilliant song by the god that was joe strummer as for george harrison ha ha ha not in the same class lad not even close

  • this honestly reminds me of george harrison. i know strummer is a legend in his own right but if someone told me this was a harrison song i'd believe them.

  • Some people ask where were you when the towers went down. I ask where were you when the hero of the world died.. RIP JOE. Our Hero.

  • R.I.P Joe <3

  • RIP Joe.

  • love you Joe.

  • RIP joe

  • Miss you, Joe.

  • Rest in peace JOE! :(

  • why is there a guy with a Penn State shirt on in this crew? He knew he was coming to a video shoot right?

  • the world not the same without this great man i miss u joe

  • Nah, I liked it cause I miss Joe.

  • his only mistake...he`s used a lot of Pitch Correction...that s only reason why he s not big as Waits or Cash...he is soooo artificial, not natural but artificial...but he could be...

  • @zoivanmo could have been* :'( RIP

  • Joe - we could do with you back with us right now!!

  • I just miss this guy...: ) Thas all!

  • People ask where where you September 11th when the towers went down. I ask where where you December 22nd when the hero of the world died.

  • @BallydowseRambler i was driving a royal mail 740 full of christmas post, foolishly through the lanes of south devon, i was in a place called denbury when i heard, i couldn't believe the news...

  • Joe <3

  • Beautiful song and album. Epitomises Joe' outlook on life. The future is unwritten...miss you man x

  • Great song. =)

  • why is joe strummer not the first name that pops up when you type in "j" on the search bar...what has this world come to? a teenage kid who sounds like a chipmunk on helium is famous because he can do a hair flip and winks at girls? he's more famous in todays world than Joe Strummer? a musical genius? a voice of a generation. leader of a movement? god....

  • This song makes me miss Joe and his passion for love.

  • an amazing man our brother Joe was.

  • man, i miss him.

  • Such a nostalgic song for me, he's my dads favourite. I still remember him crying the day Joe died..

  • some things I know, some things I don't

  • Punks not dead it was only gouching 20 yrs now when needed its clean and back stronger and wiser..Vive Le Revolution.

  • Happy birthday, Joe the punk dead with you!

  • @CrisanFenrir

    Punks not dead.

Shit people might have gone back to listen to mostly shit music, but I feel the "New Wave" in me, and I'm the new generation!

  • Happy Birthday Joe.

  • I don't know or care who John from Cincinnati is.

  • Happy Birthday

  • I enjoy this video because it' nice to see Joe Strummer so happy after all those years after the Clash where he seemed kind of lost

  • thanks for the post whoever did this..I really love this

  • really still miss this guy ,R.i.P Joe

  • nofx versions better.

  • What a shame Joe Strummer had to leave this world so soon...!

  • A song for the people, written by a man of the people. Truly a philanthropist. RIP Joe, the strummer of strummers!!

  • top song. like this lots...anglo amerikano

  • WHATEVER HAPPENED TO JOHN FROM CINCINNATI?

  • @deoisin You could try asking John but I doubt he'd give you a straight answer. :D

  • He died, like so many young men of his generation, he died before his time. In your wisdom, Lord, you took him, as you took so many bright flowering young men at Khe Sanh, at Langdok, at Hill 364. These young men gave their lives. And so would Joe. Joe, who loved bowling. And so, Joe Strummer, in accordance with what we think your dying wishes might well have been, we commit your final mortal remains to the bosom of the Pacific Ocean, which you loved so well. Good night, sweet prince.

  • While your out there getting all the honey dont go killing all us fucking working bees!

  • 20 people arn't punk rock suckers.I'm one of em.

  • @GavinS1965 20 people are not able to understand the song, you are one of them!

  • @sorstyle If you want freedom, you've gotta take it,they ain't gonna give it to ya.

  • @GavinS1965 haha no shit!

  • @GavinS1965 good thing this isn't a punk song, huh?

  • @JanesInChains1990 Actually, it is. Strummer was a punk rocker, everything he did was punk. Punk isn't defined by a single sound, it vary's, that's what makes it so great. RIP Strummer, you'll never be forgotten.

Also, WTF PEOPLE! Who cares about John from Cincinnati? You people act like you miss it more then Strummer, which disgusts me.

  • @bioshockt The Clash *was* punk. But then they branched off to other (better) styles. This is one of those different styles. Besides the point: I was defending the song anyway. I loved this album when I was 16 and I love it now.

  • This is one of those songs that takes me right back to the first time I heard it. Music, nostalgia's lubrication.

  • This world is a better place because Strummer passed through it.

  • Eight years have passed since Joe Strummer left us... The man that could play from Punk Rock to Reggae music left us, with the only desire of hearing more of his beautiful art. We miss you Joe Strummer, Thank you for leaving us such a terrific masterpiece. Global a Go-Go and Streetcore shows the potential that Joe had. Rest in Piece WE LOVE YOU!

  • How can this tune have 18 dislikes? What is wrong with you feckers?!!

  • @UkePunk I could understand an indifference the the song but dislike? Idk. I like songs that i understand others may even dislike... but not this song.

  • Like this if you miss John from Cincinnati.

  • @sbrinkman93 it was all right. the ending is a real headscratcher

  • Brilliant unknown talent waiting to be discovered properly

  • R.I.P joe strummer

  • london toooooooooooooooooooooown

  • Joe is a hero. My hero, our hero.

    RIP , you're the best!

  • There must be a new grammatical rule. I think J must be read G and E must be read D. Then JOE will have a more proper sense.

  • @jamiefulg you're retarded

  • through music you can live forever...thanks for the great tunes Joe!

  • from italy: sei un eroe.....il mondo avrebbe bisogno di te ora...orgoglioso di ascoltarte le tue canzoni

  • What part of London is this?

  • I cry again while listening Joe Strummer.

    A big loss.

  • oh joe. we miss you so much

  • ignore alien orders. i loved that sticker on your guitar. i want one.

  • RIP

  • @Gooeybot Music today is perfectly fine you're just not trying to find good music, don't think you're special because you're lazy and opinionated.

  • @chaoticjesus

You're both right. Good music is still out there but the problem is that it's 'out there'. Not to be found on telly or the radio now so much. Maybe it's ok because that makes even better when you find it. And to Gooeyboot, finding it gets easier as you get older.

  • I dont have much to say other than joe strummer was badass and I love this song

  • I love how they got Bill Clinton in this at the very beginning. Briliant. Jk. Truth is I miss Joe and realize how he gave so much. I met him after a show just a few months before he died, and chatted with him for like ten minutes and he was so down to earth and appeared just as interested in me as I was with him. Just so cool and awesome. RIP JOe, RIP.

  • Gooeybot: Stay true to your soul . It's not what one gets... it's what one gives. Thanks for the post.

  • jesus i still really miss this guy .R.I.P joe

  • @Gooeybot You should fuck these idiots w/ no taste. Punk, reggae, ska that's where all the good shit is. DIG THAT!

  • Isn't this a NOFX song?

  • @calupy No just the same title but the NOFX song is also very good!

  • how splendidly uplifting is this song and video? i can't watch it without a smile on my face.

  • The legend that is Joe Strummer, fabulous.

  • i don't know why and when, but some of these songs made on planet earth just seem to spread good energy right into my hearing channels. this is one of them! thank you, mister strummer.

  • @Gooeybot you forgot about the ramones dead kennedys and sex pistols and tons other but same story for me to

  • awesome song. whatever happened to john from cincinatti?

  • @Gooeybot I would have hung out with you when I was in middle school.

You ever heard of The Slits? I bet you'd like them.

  • ehhh i like clash better. they got that roots rock rebel...

    thats just my opinion

  • MASTER!

  • Shyte comparing to nofx...

  • @sergedemaat

Fuck off back to warped tour

  • @holsam123

    Yeah, i will gladly, H.N.Y.:)

  • @holsam123

Regarding J.S., hey , fuck you.

  • @Gooeybot Good for you, man. And people remember, don't you worry about that, lol. Those sorts of bands never die.

  • @ Gooeybot. I'm 29 and I grew up on the Clash just as you did: through people with good music steering me away from the rubbish. Anyone can grow up listening to timeless music if the people who 'know' spread the word rather than hoard it. Good onya!

  • r.i.p. joe <3

  • @Gooeybot

    nobody remembers?

  • @efsq i guess he means nobody in his school ...

  • Long Live The Music & Memory of the One and Only PUNK ROCK WARLORD JOE STRUMMER!

  • Rest in Peace Joe.

  • @Gooeybot There aren't to many people of your generation that appreciate the great music of Joe and other amazing artists. Your taste in music is very rare for your age group. Keep rockin bro!

  • Joe Strummer. Ari Up. : (

  • Rest in peace, Joe.

  • Jesus... the world is a smaller place without him...

  • Bono thinks he's Jimmy Carter or something, pompous twit.

  • @monkeyboy4746 He appeared in a Charles Bukowski documentary also. I had a reaction like yours but I thought about it and became ok with it because if one person reads Charles' work or turns onto Joe the Strummer because Bono's name is attached to it. Thats just fine.

  • Don't worry children you'll turn fifteen and become lying hypocrite douchebags too, being punk corrupts all punks. RIP Joe.

  • @Gooeybot I could not agree more. my dad got me into all of strummers stuff before i was even three years old. Same with the cure , social distortion, foo fighters. I am seeing social distortion in february. I just turned 13 in septemeber.

  • this is london as i knew it, when i was a little kid. and the beautiful, vibrant song matches it rather well.

  • 16 people like nickelback...

  • La escucho hasta el cansancio, y me gusta cada vez más.

  • miss ya Joe, not bein about...RIP...punk warlord..

  • I wish Joe was still alive, he had so much to give still.

  • RIP

  • Awsome songster he was...

  • @Gooeybot i got my 1st Clash album aged 12, back in '77. Nothings come close since...nothing!

  • @rages65

London Calling... even The Rolling Stone couldn't deny this masterpiece - at the close of the 80s RS published a final edition which featured the top 100 albums of the 80s - they voted LC #1 placing it ahead of MJ's 'Thriller' & Springsteen's 'Born in the USA'

That LC is far superior to those 2 is obvious, that an AMERICAN mag acknowledged this, placing it ahead of their own Golden Boy - Springsteen is incredible.

RIP Joe - (rock)history will view you as it does McCartney/Lennon.

  • @atrumira I think its worth remembering that Bruce was Joe's golden boy too, he totally loved Bruce's music and his overall style...Any of Bruce's first six albums are classics, and i think Joe would of agreed...

  • @laabt

Agreed. And I might have come off a wee bit brash (sorry) with my remark concerning Springsteen, the man who saved rock & roll from disco.

I saw Springsteen in concert in '92 in a small city in Canada. He came on stage with a dozen or so musicians, no fancy stage or lighting effects (pure music & nothing but) & he performed like he was playing at Madison Square.

Two legends, what a night it would have been to see them play together...

  • There is areason the Clash were known as "the only band that really matters", that reason is Joe Strummer!! RIP you were truely the coolest, baddest MotherF@#$%er ever!!!!!!!!!

  • @Haeliny ...2001.

  • Fuuuck my generation, I wanna go back in the 70s..

    Joe Strummer <3

  • Well I'll be damned! I used to be in a band called the Clash and we had a feller in there who looked and sounded just like this.. Wait a minute.. Let me think... Okay, that's right. I just made that up. My band was actually called The Beatles.. And the guys name was Buddy Guy.. or something like that.

  • @Gooeybot You are doing good man, I love The Cure very much, as well as The Clash, also some Hard Rock like Motley and Van Halen.

  • I still can't believe this was the song from John from Cincinnati, I liked that show, Strummer was a badass.

  • @ GOOEYBOT! Thanks for carrying the torch amigo!

  • american culture are interesting =)

  • very few "musicians" have really nothing to say anymore..

  • @Gooeybot same here dude. everybody are asking how can a 14 year old girl listen to some granddaddy's music, i keep telling that there's no good bands nowadays so why can't i listen something actual music from the past

  • @sydbarrett5 I like that

  • AMAZING!!!!!!!!! XD IM LEARNING TOP LAY THIS ON MY CELLO!

  • gooeybot- if you're 14 you didnt grow up to the clash.

  • @ChemicalYZ they had tapes an aw in the 90s

  • Awesome song. Joe Strummer and the Clash were better than any of today's bands.

  • What a legend

  • @Gooeybot - Musta had great parenting :)

  • @Gooeybot right on dude keep rocking out to good music and stay away from all that bullshit music that your friends five-ten years from now will be like, " I never listened to that shit."

  • gay

  • I got kicked out of one of his shows in Chicago for repeatedly shouting "Kick it over!" They asked me if I was trying to start a riot. I said, "yeah a riot of my own." They didn't get it. So I puked on the bastards. Joe you are the punk rock warlord! Love you man!

  • 16 People are fans of Justin Bieber

  • I'm pretty sure that guy in the checked shirt is Pablo something or other, I think he was the Mescaleros first percussionist, or one of em.

  • This Music means something. Not some rave-techno with to much base, This is music!

    R.I.P Woody

  • @MrHellson1 don't forget that Joe himself liked techno though. He loved all music.
