  • Is it ok if I feel like she birthed me?

  • ..

  • Okay! Okay! You win! She was great, kind, real and a"true" goddess inside and out! Sure. Whatever you say. I apologize for not lying with pc bs. I admit I find her talented, but she is also kind of plastic and egotistical and self absorbed but in another way. Those "bimbo" females and the stereotyped females you mention sometimes you might find laughable but they actually have more heart and womans soul than this hip self absorbed diva bitch.

  • @ToeIn2194

    Oh fuck you dude.

People like you make Gaga top the charts. You need to be tarred and feathered.

  • I met her in person and she was completely forced, contrived and smug.I was disappointed because I like her art to some degree. I agree that she really takes herself wayyy too seriously. I also,if honesty counts anymore ,not pc,found her to be almost a frankenstein ,long ,scarey looking hag who said ,in her show, about five times how fabulous she is/was and how this one, that one had to have her, etc. Way too serious about herself. Disappointed by her deluded ,fat ego.

  • @ToeIn2194

I'm upset she even had to meet you. She has every reason to be smug. Look what she accomplished. You deserve to meet her and all of her art and talent is lost on you. What a waste of her time. Shitface.

  • @ccipollini1984 Please don't forget to commit suicide over my less than orgasmic meeting with her or reaction to her poem and songs,[of which I like a few]. I am just kidding. I realize you adore her. I was pretty turned off by her,but I can see now that I was angry, disappointed. She's cool just not so great to other females..WHICH IS TRUE. Diva-ish. Pretty hating ...only "hip" homely leftist females was she nice to.Very sanctimonious about it. Sorry, but it's true.

  • @ToeIn2194

Then don't go fucking see her you twit!

Fuck'in A man, does that not process into your head?

  • @ccipollini1984 OMG you are so lonely!

  • @ToeIn2194

    says the troll...

  • @ToeIn2194

Marvelous comeback by the way. I'm sure that D in debate class was well earned

  • @ToeIn2194 You must be joking. Who are you that she would have to make any great effort to impress you ? Should she be fake like the female "icons" of today (Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Rhianna) and pretend to be something she is not? Should we not all take ourselves seriously regardless anyway? Her intention is to open people's eyes to life and to the world, and that is a very serious matter. People who look at themselves as a joke should be condemned, not an inspirational woman who has done so much.

  • I adore her. Brilliant writer, brilliant role model.

  • she gives me chills- is SO REAL- SO sweet! Yes, she gives her energy threw her music/art/life- LOVE her- she inspires me SOO muchhhhh! Thank GOD for people like her on this planet, there are too few.

  • a friend of mine has met Patti at stage door with a rose several times when she's played Atlanta . He says she's never been anything but polite. Once just to do something different he handed her a lit joint. He says she laughed, said thanks, and took it.

  • The fact that she still BURSTS IT ALL OUT of her voicebox when doing Rock and Roll Nigger, 63 years old - and STILL going on about injustice and corporate greed in the world - is fucking great.

She's a force of nature, bless her!

  • New Trailer for critically acclaimed film, Enter the Void. Looks trippy!

    bit. ly/ afc8Ax

  • She takes herself wayyy too seriously.

  • @dirkbogarde44

She's earned the right to. I'm sure you haven't.

  • she is amazing!!

  • fav song of all time!!!!!!!!! 17 hours

  • She's soooooo gorgeous :)

  • @Jojoseahorse

Yeah, I wake up every day to look in the mirror cursing the gods that I don't look like her.

  • @kingoftomatoes I'm assuming you are a dude, if you are a "King": would you really want to resemble a hot girl?! Some tomatoes can be juicy though :)

  • Thank you for helping make people aware of a rare and remarkable woman: a true pioneer & a vital voice for this ever more threateningly complacent nation.

  • Great artist. Great talent.

  • So in love with her.

  • "Those who had suffered

     Understand suffering

    and thereby extend their hand"

  • @fnnichols -- quiet now. Smith is deserving of anyone's respect. Bear in mind; only you have your wants.

  • Yea,I saw movie in D.C.,I saw her here in late 70,s twice. Cool movie,my freinds band opened for her ,she was mean to everyone.Good show though,

  • Mean to everyone! I gotta say she was an idol of mine since my childhood...and I got to meet her a few years back and....she was mean to me. LOL

  • i saw the movie in the theater last year. twas interesting.

    but a little long.

  • i bought the film yesterday, and i absolutely love it.

i wish that there were more performances of her on youtube

  • i love the movie, it's just perfect! it also helped me to discover patti's music. ..art,...poetry....ideology ...wisdom...

  • i used feel the same way as all of you, i felt she was a great artist and human (like all of us) but i've been around her on a few occasions, she not very respectful to people.every star has an ego, you need a certain amount of one to be great, hers' is just mean spirited. in the words of chris stein, she's not what she thinks she is.

  • Hey, thank you for sharing. A different perspective is always interesting

  • You are SO wrong. You must have said something stupid. I met her on the street one day in SF. She was the most gracious, sweet woman I have ever had the pleasure to meet. She held my hand to her heart as I told her of her influence on me as a teen back in 1975. She also puts on a great show. You were fucking lucky to have even met her.

  • i think its wonderful you had a great experience, good for you both. i was lucky to have met her! i even had dinner with her and the band at an event. its to bad you would think something Stupid would trigger some kind of personal hostility towards her. truth be told her most recent efforts are not memorable

  • maybe not on par with Horses, REFM, Easter, etc. but she does not have the same band. Glitter in Their Eyes and Summer Cannibals are good. I like her cover of Dove's Cry much better than that little ego-twit prince... Regardless of output, she has a heart of gold and soul to match. We are all fortunate for her presence in this world.

  • there are some good moments in recent years, i love her band, i love her writing, she has been a teacher to me in many ways! i really didnt mean to trash her, just sharing the truth i wish her the best, frankly, the two nicest artists i ever met( on repeated ocassions) were laurie Anderson.and (this is true) Alice Cooper ( im done here)

  • just to comment and perhaps shed some light on the subject....I have met patti and laurie anderson....laurie was very pleasant.....patti was not....

  • @jocksoff Did you say something to upset her, because she really seems like she is cool.

  • @217potato no, didn't say a thing....but to put things in perspective Jay Dee Daugherty was very cool...and spoke a little about their music, setlists, etc. He was very much a gentleman.

  • i love her so so so much and i was so disappointed with the film. : (

  • I have been a fan for the past sixteen years and I think she is incredible. INCREDIBLE!

  • I believe that Patti Smith TODAY is a role model: for anyone who needs her energy , she gives it, through her art and joy for life. She has shown great courage time and again, by speaking the truth as she sees it. She sings to give power to those who have been afraid to raise their own voices, and gives them strength to do so. She has raised two beautiful children, that she truly wanted. She lives without the trappings of stardom. She is a genuine reflection of her true self. My respect always.

  • @ChrisOtheBigC

Beautifully said. She is a rare bird indeed; and for anyone who truly sees beyond the illusion most people conform to, she's a living example of hope and belief ~ someone to sustain one's faith in a higher and more honest way of life.

Anyone who can't see this has already been bought and sold.

    Best to you, Chris

  • @steelyman08 WOW- well said to you too! Thank GOD there are some people who can truly see! YEAHHHH!

  • She's my hero. I've just ordered the dvd.

I've seen her peform a several times and everytime was a great experience.

  • i love her..........

  • Everybody works for somebody, even you dummy!

  • Ms. Smith has been through Hell, and look at her now! She is definitely the stuff of which legends are made.

    Thank you.

  • You go girl...this chit is magic...all of you...

    Muchisimas gracias

  • ni idea, pero si lo consigues me avisas porfa!!

  • love her. she's such a light.

  • Great film! Really appreciated the clips at Patti's folk's place in Mantua, NJ. Her Mom was so friendly and welcoming to fans over the years, she was a really wonderful person. My favorite parts of the movie: Patti visiting Rimbaud's farm, as well as the songs with Sam Shepard.

  • met her several years ago, she's done some great work, at times important work, and she has dealt with a rocky road of death in the last decade, however, shes not the buddah like spirit she wants you to believe (although she was nice to me)i witnessed ungracious moments , just rude behavior , her band said was typical throughout the years, that broke my heart. were all human, but where there is power there is no love....

  • She is one of my role models. I cannot wait to see the film. And Patti, please come back to Japan. We love you.

  • She's no role model, but she is one hell of a poet and singer. Influential is the word.

  • I love Patti

  • She is such a kindred spirit.

  • she looks like my mathematic teacher too

  • She looks like Joey Ramone on this interview. :-)

  • ahahah you're right.

  • I can't wait either. It's screening in Adelaide on 2 November. I CAN NOT WAIT!!!!!

  • Cannot wait to see this journey on film...patti and steven - a journey shared

  • i was so lucky to see it at film forum, greenwich village, nyc, with patti, lenny k, and stephen in attendance. patti played two songs after the film. she is as gracious and kind and gentle as the person she was looking for to take her photographs. the film is a dream. it feels and moves like one of her albums: poetry, rock n roll and art. we love you patti.

  • let me tell you I saw this last night. and it was amazing!

I must have cried 6 r 7 times. Each sequence was like it's own short film with narrative and poems and music. So inspiring.

    Such a powerful voice.

  • So, the Patti Smith Movie will be playing in New Orleans with the Germs film"What we do is secret" as a doubleheader, Sept. 19 - 25.

  • What are the other music films. I saw the Patti Smith flick. Ehhh...

  • Can't wait to see this film!!! Does anyone know if it comes to Minneapolis!?

Oh hey, I saw the germs film, it was awesome!!!

  • There are tons of great music movies out now.

Don't forget the Germs movie, "What we do is Secret."

    See them all!

  • Patti!

  • I wanna see that movie!! is there a date for an austrian show?

  • Wow, can't wait!!

  • When are they gonna show this in san diego?

  • even though patti is a female artist she really never uses other women to collaborate with. I rea in a biography of her that she doesnt really get on with other women that she feels very insecure and intimidated.

  • nice

  • OH My Patti!!! I love Youuuuuuuuuu!!!

  • patti is a one of a kind artist. i simply adore her. she is a saint in my book. each year her art gets richer and a bit more complex and i will follow her to the ends of the earth to hear her speak and sing.

i will be in paris next week for the opening of her artwork.

  • machine1313 I meant to hit the thumbs up not the thumbs down! I hit it 10 times up if I could!!!

  • YES YES YES YES!. I'm so glad this exists.

  • aaaaaah. she's fucking incredible. <3 i can't wait to see this.

  • What happened to her speaking voice? It used to be cute.

  • ehh, s'called age...

  • It just seems like a big difference for someone who is only in their 60's and doesn't have a damaged-sounding voice. I'm partial to her minnie mouse voice since it's so unexpected.

  • Patti has always possessed an interesting tonal RANGE in her singing voice, only her speaking tone/timbre has changed significantly. Stylistically speaking she is among the most emulated female voices in rock. Her cumulative influence on other artists over the last 38yrs is unprecedented within that genre.

  • I whole heartedly agree...

  • I will be creating an exclusive Patti Smith channel here on YT. Please check with my site should you wish to participate or collaborate. Thank you.

    Christine

  • I cannot wait, I CANNOT WAIT! She is a goddess among women. She is THE renaissance woman/human of the creative arts. Tell no lies. If you have a shred of humanity and discerning intellect...you know I'm right(as per usual)hehe. Word up people, her best is yet to come. She has already started a new paradigm shift at 62!!. Wahooooooooo. I'm ready!!!!!!!!!!!The Aesthetic Emancipation Squad has spoken.

    Christine

  • I'm dying to see this Movie!

    Patti forever!

  • I love Patti Smith - she was such a renegade in her youth. I'm glad I got to experience her music in the 70's. I still listen alot to her now. Whenever I watch the crap that American Idol puts out as "talent" I think of Patti Smith and how I'm glad I am that there once was true talent.

  • Will try and see it.

  • bob malardo

  • asdad :S

  • She is 'unique'!

    Awesome artist!

    Song Poet!

Its so good that she is creating until today!

  • Intro Monologue lines a bit trite: "..began a new adventure of our own design Intersecting fate in a series of lucky and unlucky accidents!" mmmm not great but hey she's a great singer/songwriter!

  • oh I like
