is micarta the same thing or similar to fiberglass? I've worked with fiberglass a bit and if this is anywhere near as strong as that I would have no worries using it as an edc.
I love this knife , and I wish I could afford one. In the time being, I have purchased a Kershaw 'chill', which is kind of the same size/specs, and found that it it is a really great knife for the value, (around $15!!). Now I'm gonna put my money towards a different knife since I have a nice, light slim folder. I suggest looking into the "Chill" if you can't afford an Al Mar.
ANY Al Mar's is a great 'real' knife, this serie (including the marvelous small and strong SLB) offer a great and strong micarta, warm in the hand and smoothly polished, a pleasure. in other models they use VG10 and SV 30 but even with AUS8, they know their job with steel... enjoy your's
you don't see too many people include Al Mar's in their edc yet its a great looking knife. I'm looking for a lightweight edc blade and this looks like one for the shortlist. Thanks for reviewing

@sturmgewehr70 Try the Falcon or the Eagle - same design but larger.

I love my Hawk. Mine is a partially serrated version though. Crazy sharp and real easy to resharpen on ceramic rods. Quality product.

Yeah you don't see too many around. You pay for the fit and finish of the knife but it's worth every cent.
