Am I the only one that sees the CGI part and does a facepalm? Why did Lucas just F******* ruin this scene with his CGI fake looking bullcrap??! It has its place.... in the pre-sucks movies....

@Jecoopster I don't care who it was for. Can you not see the obvious problem between juxtaposing CGI against Puppets and Costumes? It looks way more obvious when you do that. Take a look at the prequels... do you see that many puppets? Aside from Yoda before they CGI replaced him? My point here is simple. When you take a scene like this with all the old-fashioned puppetry and makeup special effects - and insert CGI - it looks retarded. If you don't agree...I'm sure others will chime in otherwise

@Jecoopster It shouldn't matter that this is for the younger audience to "get into" the old Swars movies. This style of moviemaking (Adding CGI to a classic scene) just ruins the scene on a bunch of levels. It makes a total mockery out of the whole thing. We're already suspending our imagination on puppets - and now... well.. let me compare this to a movie like Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Sure, it's funny, it's cool, but at the end of the day, you added drawings to a movie and it's silly as hell.

When I was younger I didn't realise what was going on and I just thought that he fed her to the Rancor because he didn't like her dancing. I was like wait!? Why her and not that other crappy lady dancer!? But now I know why he fed her to the Rancor even if it was awful none the less.

I don't mind some of the CGI touch ups (namely the female alien singer with the anteater like mouth) but stuff like that at the end, where they are just pointlessly added in, annoys me astronomically.

@Silvsilvchan The alien singer is Sy-snootles.cgi worked fine in the movies battle sequences in space.Lucas however seems to think that cgi aliens in cantinas/jabbas palace are as viable as a human actors in rubber masks.He cant quite grasp the fact...that they are nowhere near as close.This particular sequence,is a slap in the face to any true Star Wars fan.Lucas killed his special editions with an almost heroin like addiction to new inventions with computers.

I agree actually. I disagree on "Sy-snootles", the original was extremely stiff and looked horribly fake. But there was also good puppet work that got CGIed over. I am just glad they didn't use the CGI Jabba in place of the puppet work, because in that case the opposite is true. The animatronic/puppet looks so much better and more life like than the CGI version that was used in A New Hope's reinstated deleted scene.
