  • @jake1052003 John Lennon did...hes also in shades indoors.

  • Wow I am surprised how apologetic John is about how he treated Julian. Hopefully, Julian heard this and could take some solace in John admitting how bad he was to him.

  • @katyrus100 Indeed my dear. :)

  • Why?

  • thanks for posting this; super interesting!

  • Is this a picture of their office in the Dakota?

  • @hoosierlooker

Just saw this comment. Yes it is.

  • @hoosierlooker Who wears hats in there their own house?

  • I think it's kinda hard to forgive John that he neglected his son Julian, but he forgave him in 2009 after Lucy died.(woman who inspired "Lucy in the sky with diamonds") I think he forgave him, cause he realized it's not worth fighting against time, and we are all humans, we all make mistakes

  • @Daniel0889

I think as Julian has aged, he has also become wiser. Who could blame him for being bitter? No one, that's for sure, but Julian is a great guy and he's a very gentle and caring person. I think that he just realized that his bitterness and anger (while understandable) was just holding him back in life because he could never move on from that.

  • I think he also got a lot of peace and closure in the late 90s after seeing a white feather. He was doing a documentary on the indigenous peoples of Australia and he saw a white feather and got very emotional. The story behind that is John told him that, if something should happen to him (like if he were to die or whatever), he should look for a white feather. He said the white feather would show him that he was still around and looking after him and protecting him.

  • So that was a very powerful message/sign that Julian received and one which helped him resolve some of his anger. Julian also told the other Beatles about what John had told them and, as fate would have it, when Paul, George, and Ringo were recording Free As a Bird/Real Love, they found a white peacock roaming the grounds of Paul's estate in Sussex when they were taking a break from recording. So all of them took that as a sign that John was with them and looking out for them.

  • it's contradictory that he mentions how all boys were brought up to be like soldiers (ie, meatbags) for war, and that's it. Yet despite how degrading and dehumanizing that is, he wrote a song about women being nigger of the world. I think men and women are both "niggers" in different ways, tho now women are less so and men are more so.

I think it's beautiful that he spent. 5 years with his son being the primary caregiver. All fathers should enjoy that privilege.

  • Egads! They're just like all other parents. Waxing on about their kid ad nauseum--as if we care.

  • Can you imagine if you could just walk right into this interview and say, "John! There is someone at this very moment waiting to kill you. You're going to die in few hours!" I wonder would he have believed it?

  • she didnt have him killed he thought he was bigger than god the bible said god will not be mocked the holy ghost has the first and last say

  • i just wonder what that nutjob chapman would be thinking or feeling while listening to this recording as john is talking about his little son?.

  • Chris, when I moved into my office in 1993 it came with a few desks from the original tenant. From looking at a few photos of Studio 1, I'm almost certain I have the same desk (2 in fact) that John is sitting at in this photo. I will send you a photo of it. It's a very very heavy desk.

  • you don't have to be rich to love your kids

  • Please don't punch me for saying this, but I think that Yoko is and was a good lady. She made John happy and they loved each other very deeply. She gave him Sean, which was a huge changing and blessing thing to him. At any rate, I like hearing her input in this interview. Sorry to those that don't like her; no offense intended! hehe

  • @tall32guy

No one should get angry with you for your viewpoint. I disagree, but you're entitled to your own opinion. I've been a bit hostile to the pro Yoko crowd in the past, but one of my New Years resolutions is to be more civil to those with points that I disagree with. I personally think that John and Yoko was a myth and that it did not resemble the life that they showed to the public in anyway. But you're entitled to your opinion.

  • @tall32guy yoko convinced him to move into new york ...so indirectly she had him killed

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111

That's kind of an extreme point.

  • @NeilFraudstrong well even though its extreme its a fact

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111 Not quite, because there's wackjobs everywhere, not just in New York. If it hadn't been Chapman, there's the possibility it might have been someone else. Apparently it was his time to go, no matter whose fault it was for his death.

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111 WHAT OFFENSIVE NONSENSE. Could Yoko read the future? She lost the man she loved, and who loved her. Have some respect.

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111 WHAT OFFENSIVE NONSENSE. Could Yoko read the future? She lost the man she loved, and who loved her. Have some respect. Mark Chapman murdered John, no-one else. Yoko lost more than any fan did,

  • @joese5 but still she is indirectly responsible for his death because he moved to NY because of her. Sure she suffered a great loss, but I stated the fact as I saw it.

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111 You might as well blame the airline for flying him there. He was pig headed enough to come to his own conclusions as to where he wanted to live. Chapman didn't live in NY anyway - he went to where Lennon was, which could just as easily have been Esher.

And by the way... Rap IS music. You just don't like it

  • @RAPisntMUSIC111 mmm... well his mother gave birth to him, so basically she killed him.

  • @astronautahahaha what the heck are you talking about???????

  • no no mate you dont need to apologise for anything my friend i use to feel bitter towards yoko but i now think exactly how you have just said it. john loved her so i respect her she was part of his life so let it be i say you cant keep dwelling on the past of what was and what happend people who attack yoko need to just chill and acept her

  • @tall32guy I don't like her music, but I agree she's great in this interview.

  • @tall32guy I have heard otherwise. But, I believe John loved her. I don't like that he "forgot" Julian and Cynthia. But, there is music and things that John said that are amazing and I love him for that. I was left by both my parents when I was about three. So, in comparison....at least Julian had a fantastic mother. God bless Cynthia. I absolutely HATE the way John was murdered. I often wonder what he would be like had he not been killed. :-((

  • @katyrus100 And, it just grates my nerves when people say that "John would believe this or John would want you to do this" etc. NO one knows what John would be like had he lived. Not even his wife! If you don't believe me, ask all the women who were surprised by their husbands at the age of 40. I didn't expect it.divorce.yet it happened. lol...............stepping down off my soapbox. <3 TY Tall guy.

  • he sounds a little hypocritical talking about how to raise kids. Cyn raised Julian and other people here are right, he doesn't even want to mention his name. i loved John but wrong is wrong.

  • Given the popularity of the Beatles and the pressures of being a music legend John was the best father he could be.Peace of mind don"t come easy with stardom.

  • @guitar49 its why theres pot

  • All this talk about children: what he thinks people should do to raise them, feed them etc etc.. What a shame he can't even call Julian by name, it's he's "my first" and only mentions him in passing while he goes on and on about Sean. How sad for Julian.

  • poor Sean poor John poor Yoko poor Julian poor fans. It didnt have to be like it was.

  • i take back my previous comment.

  • @cathkinghost Aunt Mimi was a very practical english woman.. and a survivor of the wars.. you know... and yeah- that is what made John so great: just this- immense, almost immeasurable: practicality. I mean: someone needed to come up with an alternative to nuclear inihilation: and John and Yoko- did. Right when it was needed. and that is why we are having such a hard time to carry on now.. we could use his head among the millions- and we don't seem to know how or where to find ... him.

  • @joaohnna13 um i assure you there are millions and millions if not billions of people who are against nuclear annilation lol don't worry about it. We don't need john lennon for that.

  • he is still "just a human". you find yourself in situations- and you try to figure out "how" that happened.. and "why".. and- sometimes- always it is "where" and "Who.." you know... waking up in a new car: that is what John said life was, and death: "you get out of one car, and into another"... but no one has tuned in- or understood the REAlity... of.. the next car. People are Really Afraid of that one. But John is still a human- and the experiences of the past.. 30 years.. are untold.

  • So he didn't like how Americans eat huh? Lol.

  • @PhantomKitty957 I think it was more less how they advertised.

  • John seemed like quite a strict father.

  • I've always liked how sensible each of the Beatles were. Who they were added to what they did of course. I like how he searches for balance with Sean, but stays true to his convictions, and yet open to adjusting. However, it is much too sad to listen to this.

  • 3.08 - If only that loser could have heard John Lennon talking about phonies.

    John might still be alive.

  • Comment removed

  • I'm sorry, your choice of words made me chuckle

"Let it hang out in people's faces"

  • The first part is very touching. His first child, Julian, whom he neglected was around 16-17 years old - he keeps mentioning "16 or 17 years old..."

I believe that he truly regretted neglecting his first born, but instead of becoming closer with him he just devoted himself to his second child. Although we like to see John as a super human, in reality he struggled with the same problems and concerns as we do.

Its sad that things turned out the way they did. But that's life.

  • i agree with you internetisgood, i couldn't have said it better.

  • But was is good as it were is that John tried becoming closer with Julian around this time. And Julian even said that in the Imagine movie, they were finally becoming father and son and then chapman had to kill him.

  • but we shouldnt hold a grudge against him for it

thats not wat John would want

instead, we should forgive and honor John's memory by picking up where he left off

i believe thats wat he would have wanted

  • No you should not hold a grudge against him for it. We do not know what kind of relationship Julian and John could have had. Hopefully they would have had a beautiful relationship has father and son.

  • i honestly believe that if we all tried to be more like John the world would be a better place

  • he was just a human....

    but a great writer

(poor Sean, the first 10 minutes with John, he just talk about him.... but he never saw each other again)

  • @0000song0000

That is something that people miss. John was a human being. He's achieved this god like status in death and he has ultimately become more than a a legend. People get so caught up in the whole Beatles thing, but they forget that they are real people with families, loved ones, and friends. That's one thing I want people to realize on my channel. John was just a human being like all of us. Sure, he did something great, but he was still just a man.

  • @NeilFraudstrong he recieved his status Before he died.

  • @marysez very true. John Lennon was considered a threat to the US Government because of his fame and followers. He wasn't over-exaggerating when he said The Beatles are bigger than Jesus.

  • @NeilFraudstrong people who think anyone is godlike are stupid fools. what the hell does "godlike" mean anyway? Who's foolish enough to believe in unproven, unsseen, scientifically unveriviable superpeople who live in the sky anyway?

  • @unfortunatebeam you're an athiest?

  • @internetisgood it is sad that things turned out the way the did.. and that is death too. The biggest part of death is.. not being able to communicate any more, cause.. now you are a ghost- or... well, you are just not supposed to be around any more. but what happens when.. you are still Around.. and no one wants to talk to you because... you are SuppOSED to be DEAD!. and now you are thinking that I am INSane... you see?! it is a Really BIG Hurdle.. this one.

  • @internetisgood Difficult not to neglect your kids when your touring the world constantly .

  • @internetisgood john always stayed apart of julian but he started as a father who was young , he didn't realize he was neglecting julian but he was always in love with his children and there for them both julian thinks he lost his dad twice , but in reality john was there , he just with sean julian was only jealous because john retired for a bit to raise him

  • @TheNatepayton No, that's not true. Julian's jealous because John wasn't a part of his life. He saw him a handful of times after John left and was intimidating or angry or reading the paper and not paying him attention when he DID actually see him. John spoiled Sean coz he realised what a mess-up he made of being a Dad to Julian even though John's dad was no kind of father himself. Julian got very humble presents, while sean had everything he wanted. Cynthia was working to put food on the table.

  • @internetisgood oh my god, CALM DOWN. I think julian will survive with all his millions. I grew up without a father and it doesnt effect me at all. I had plenty of great family members in my life to make up for it

  • @internetisgood no, that's death
