  • SONG IS CALLED "TRUCK DRIVIN MAN" NOT TEXAS........JUST SAYIN

  • Buddy Cage the fastest right hand in the world. Best steel player ever...

  • TRUCK DRIVIN MAN.....a song from the 1940 in one form or another

  • God bless Marmaduke and Dave Torbert.

  • somebody gotta have all the songs they played on this...and in better quality. i've seen hello mary lou in crystal clear quality...bad encoding on this vid i guess. but thanks for puttin it up

  • fuckin gutted man.saw nrps with the dead at bickershaw festival 1972.r i p john

  • RIP Marmaduke

Commander Cody owned this one in MHO but this is a damn good version.

Panama Red was a dumb ass song.

  • Hi

The song is called "Truck Driving Man" made famous by the late Buck Owens

Intresed about Vassar Clements playing steel with Leon Russel as the only Vassar Clements I know is a great fiddle player

  • we took a stab at this one, please check it out...comments welcome Iffy and rusty

  • Foy Willing and the Riders of the Purple Sage.....I had a record by them, way cool old school country. Did a song about the Black Hills that raises the hair on your spine

  • Saw them last week and they dind't play panama red and everyone was super pissed off except for me because I am 15 and I am lucky to find the bands I like still touring like canned heat johmmy winter or others.

  • leon russel did this song with vasser clements on steel but i like buddy cage even more

  • @machrochronic I Think Buddy could be the best steel I have ever heard and he is STILL doin it

  • he's good that's for sure. I saw NRPS at the Armadillo World Headquarters in about 1970 and when they played "Hello Mary Lou" the crowd of hippies went crazy over the pedal steel part.

That's when I decided to transform my rock group into "progressive country" (as they called it back then).

  • Can't believe how good these guys sound! Love NRPS, always have. Thanks for putting this up.

  • SAGE'D

  • ...or was it Zane Grey???????

  • The name was originally from a cowboy book by JT Edson.

  • I've long thought this is one of the top names for a band I've ever heard! so poetic or meaningfully concise? I see a vision of an endless, beautiful, empty, sunny field of flowers (purple sage) and the glory of and in the realising of this from being there. A new passenger/rider on wings of light and colour manifest as forms of hope from real, tangible life itself! :)

  • great video, check out DNB Live in the search

  • as far as i know the song isn't called texas but Truck Drivin' Man....

    anyway great stuff ;-)

  • Right you are.

  • Great BAND--Love those Steel Guitars.
