The grand Cherokee also has an 8 93-95.
This is why the grille statement is irrelevant because there were many capable Jeeps made that had 5, 8, 9, 10 slots, and others, like the SJ Cherokee that had a completely different grill. The seven slot is just Chrysler marketing BS and the history is small, going back to one 1941 model MB or MA, the main Jeep MB had a 9 slot.
It may also interest you that the original 9 slot grill was designed by Ford...
When "Willy's Overland" started making civilian Jeeps after the war, then they started to make the 7 slots to help differentiate civilian models from military.

Yea, it sucks having an "ugly POS" (mine resembles Nitto Team's Baja winner): 440hp, gets 28mpg with 35" Nitto TG's, Walker Evans wheels, ARB Lockers, Rallye 4000 HID, Sparco seats, 0-62 in 4.9s, 1100+ mile fuel range, 12"-18" adjustable travel, URD Supercharger, 136 mph, etc.
And yes, that IS saying a lot when FJ's take several titles at Baja in it's first year of production, it raced in the same classes as Jeep... not a single Jeep finished.

Market sales show that 85% of FJ owners are young males of upper middle to upper class income, healthy, and with above average education... compare that to Jeeps which the Wrangler is one of the top "chic cars" purchased by girls and driven only on pavement. Average Jeep owner is of average to below average education, from lower-middle class status, and overweight.
Fj has won Baja, traveled to the North and South Poles, Jeep can't do any of these.

@juvi81 Fj's are ok. They have problems just like any other vehicle. Especially stock. They have ok traction, and they're pretty stable which makes them good rigs to build on. But the stock suspension isn't that great and their front bumpers are in the dirt. I like them but they make more compromises than a jeep for street comfort.
@MattRT91 Not true, FJ's were taken on the Rubicon trail 100% stock with street tires and did better than any other stock vehicle vehicle by a long shot. They also fared better than slightly modified Jeeps with 33" bfg mt. Their traction is second to none, stock they have a bigger footprint than a Jeep and they have lockers, those two factors define traction capability.
@seventhSabra I agree they get better traction than a stock TJ. I own a Tj and it's unstable as shit. But there are two other factors, price and parts. A midlevel FJ is priced at the level of a JK Rubicon, also the parts are very expensive and hard to find used. I agree with you FJs are good trucks, so are Taco's (the little ones not the new ones), I'm not a toy-phobic shit talker like a lot of jeepers are dude lol. (0IIIIIII0) >:)

The price difference is largely due to superior build quality (Japan vs Canada or Mexico for Jeep), and parts/performance. For a Jeep to be able to do what a stock FJ can, you'll need to spend a K on tires and some HP mods. In the long run the FJ is much cheaper with maintenance costs, fuel cost, broken parts due to 4x4ing and just shoddy build quality of the Jeep.

@juvi81 awe did i hurt your feelings? and i drive a lifted jeep its a piece of shit only the wranglers are good but they cost to much. and yea if you take a fj replace the rear axle and replace the IFS then yea it can be good just like any other truck or IFS vehicle with a small rear diff. FJs are ugly expensive and useless stock a stock wrangler costs about the same and out performs it on and off road and the jeep symbol was to be ironic. THANKS

Yea, it sucks having an "ugly POS" (mine resembles Nitto Team's Baja winner): 440hp, gets 28mpg with 35" Nitto TG's, Walker Evans wheels, ARB Lockers, Rallye 4000 HID, Sparco seats, 0-62 in 4.9s, 1100+ mile fuel range, 12"-18" adjustable travel, URD Supercharger, 136 mph, etc.
And yes, that IS saying a lot when FJ's take several titles at Baja in it's first year of production, it raced in the same classes as Jeep... not a single Jeep finished.

Market sales show that 85% of FJ owners are young males of upper middle to upper class income, healthy, and with above average education... compare that to Jeeps which the Wrangler is one of the top "chic cars" purchased by girls and driven only on pavement. Average Jeep owner is of average to below average education, from lower-middle class status, and overweight.
Fj has won Baja, traveled to the North and South Poles, Jeep can't do any of these.

@juvi81 Fj's are ok. They have problems just like any other vehicle. Especially stock. They have ok traction, and they're pretty stable which makes them good rigs to build on. But the stock suspension isn't that great and their front bumpers are in the dirt. I like them but they make more compromises than a jeep for street comfort.

@MattRT91 Not true, FJ's were taken on the Rubicon trail 100% stock with street tires and did better than any other stock vehicle vehicle by a long shot. They also fared better than slightly modified Jeeps with 33" bfg mt. Their traction is second to none, stock they have a bigger footprint than a Jeep and they have lockers, those two factors define traction capability.

@seventhSabra I agree they get better traction than a stock TJ. I own a Tj and it's unstable as shit. But there are two other factors, price and parts. A midlevel FJ is priced at the level of a JK Rubicon, also the parts are very expensive and hard to find used. I agree with you FJs are good trucks, so are Taco's (the little ones not the new ones), I'm not a toy-phobic shit talker like a lot of jeepers are dude lol. (0IIIIIII0) >:)

@MattRT91 Nice to see for once, 99.999% of Jeep owners are complete ignorant jackass douchebags with a severe case of fanboyism.
The price difference is largely due to superior build quality (Japan vs Canada or Mexico for Jeep), and parts/performance. For a Jeep to be able to do what a stock FJ can, you'll need to spend a K on tires and some HP mods. In the long run the FJ is much cheaper with maintenance costs, fuel cost, broken parts due to 4x4ing and just shoddy build quality of the Jeep.
