  • SONG : REQUIEM FOR A DREAM

  • my mom is obsessed with peacocks. i think if i start now, ill have this done by the time its her birthday next year. her bday is 7/13/11, and today is 8/1/11.

thumbs if if u catch my drift.

  • I don't like using glue on origami either, but, every time I make a swan or something out of these pieces, it falls apart (because I mess with it, or my cats get it, which is my own fault I know but still) Is it possible to just take spray adhesive and spray it over the finished object, and then like, craft preservative (like what you spray on charcoal drawings to keep them from smudging after finished) to get rid of the stickiness?

  • @yoyohoes I didn't use glue. You can if you want to renforce the slots, but I like to keep to the principles of origami.

  • omg thats awesome

im making a 3d origami swan

and now you inspired me to make this

    thanks

    Whats the song you used?

  • The song is "Lux Aterna", there is a similar version titled "Requiem for a Dream" by Clint Marshall which was the theme song for the move Requiem for a Dream. There are plenty of versions around on YouTube.

Thanks for the comment, and I hope your model turns out really good =]

  • how do you make the post its into those triangles

ive done a paper swan lioke that but not out of post its

  • Same exact way, just fold the sticky strip inside the paper when you are folding the rectangle. It gets it out of the way, and you pretty much normal paper to work it.

  • i almost started drooling.....that's crazy awesome

  • i know you to do it too nice video but another shape

  • can you hold it when its done???????? Like bring it over to another place to place??????

  • Yea, the bottom fits right in the palm of your hand. Just make sure not to grab too tightly or the whole structure may collapse. And obviously, keep it away from water.

    -Rohail

  • Did you cut the post-its in half?

  • Yes, saved a lot of money =]

  • you have waaaaaay too much spare time! lol

    its really good though :D

  • Rohail, How many of each color do you need?

  • Yours should have made the finalist. It's far better than the ones made finalist. this keeps you entertained all the way to the end. no boring talk

  • that was amazing - check out my vid and remember to tell your friends to vote at contest time

  • did you win the contest?

  • what is this song in the beginning? has searched the internet for it and can't find it, can u give it to me somehow?

  • Its Requiem for a dream, just youtube it and you can get the music (with a still image as a video)

    -Rohail

  • I love origami my book is 3d origami By Boutique-Sha Staff and the two other ones they are Amazing books!

  • Does it have a dragon model? 0.o

    -Rohail

  • yes it does

  • It's like making and origami swan at first!!!!!!! Making a sswan is easier, I think.........

  • Yes it most def. is, the swan requires half the pieces than the peacock and there isn't the issue of imbalance. Because the peacock has most its pieces stacked on one side (the tail "feathers") there is a major chance its going to tip over and fall if you don't construct it right. Where as the swan, the wings are balance each other out on each side.

    Did you make a swan?

    -Rohail

  • Um, no but my mom loves to make swans!!!!! She is gonna learn how to make an origami dragon!!!!!!! But I did learn how to make a swan, but I didn't make one yet. PLEASE REPLY!!!!!

  • I've been trying to learn how to do an Origami Dragon..but no luck =(

If she ever does it, let me know what she uses as a reference. That would be awesome.

    -Rohail

  • I MIGHT post a vid of the origami dragon if I figure out how, but it's VERY complicated. The head and the legs of the dragon are very complicated so I don't know if it will be a tutorial video. Keep in touch.

  • Do you know the source? Like a book, a diagram online, or something else I might not be aware of...

    -Rohail

  • I wasn't really into the dragon but wasn't there an instruction paper in korean or something like that with the diagrams of how to construct the dragon??? By the it looks very nice in gold. Please reply!!!!!!!!!!

  • Didn't the dragon box come with instructions? Because the dragon my mom made came with instructions.

  • I've tried to replying to you but something is wrong with my account. Anyways, the orgami dragon my mom made came with instructions but it's in Korean or something so my mom looked at the picture.

  • If it were to tip over on the feathers/tail side.. how would you fix it? make the neck longer?

  • amazing video. just wonderful. I would love to make origami out of post-its. I dont even have any lol. the colors are amazing.

  • Wow that was really cool! I hope you win the contest!

  • Awesomeness

    :]

  • 1st prize :D

  • bad at showing the units!!!!!!!!!

  • What units? The modular units? or the units of measurement?

  • wow dude ur amazing! i think u could win

  • How do you put together the ring of 30 pieces? ex:Like 10 pieces for first row and then add on from there etc.

  • once you fold the modular pieces, theres going to be a double "pocket" in the back to put in other modular pieces. You begin with a set of 3 (2 in the back, and their "legs" are inserted into the pocket of the 3rd one). You keep putting them together like this until you have 30 base pieces, you join them together and you have a ring of base 30 pieces and a second layer of 15 pieces. You complete the second layer by inserting the legs of the base pairs into the pocket of the modular.

  • Ooh! How exactly do you fold the first piece? I've been dying to make some of these incredible creations!

  • omg this is amazing !! u knw wat i cn buy this off u or u cn ta=each me in a better way to do it !!..

how did u learn to do this ?!?!

omg i loved the flowers too !! why didnt u tell us how to do tht ??? :( love

    xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Is it me or is the neck of the blue and green peacock is tilted to the side?

  • The chest of the peacock is slightly tilted, which caused the neck to be tilted as well. Sloppy origami, I know, but I shoved the bottom feathers into place and everything turned out as planned.

Nice observation, not many people saw it

    - Rohail

  • ya your right

  • Woahhh, that's so awesome! Love it! <3

  • Thanks for the comment! =D

    -Rohail

  • EPIC FAIL, if your bored go jack of j/k but seriously that must of been tiring

  • err, interesting comment 0.o It was for a contest, so it provided A LOT of motivation needed to stay up for 4 days. Trust me, I would've rather been playing tennis than be locked inside folding pieces over and over again. But I loved the outcome, so all the sleep deprived nights and crammed fingers actually seemed kind of fun.

    Try it sometime -Rohail

  • just meein with ya didnt think you would take it for real XD

  • lol, I didn't. Thanks for the comment!

    -Rohail

  • what is this song called? can you tell me please?

  • it's from the requiem for a dream soundtrack

  • thanks im goona use it to make a video

  • wow that is absolutely amazing could you send me the link on how to make the swan? i would love to try it, this video inspired me to g oby post its and try this out.

  • man, i need to learn how to make this for a killer birthday gift, now to find how to make a different animal or someone who LOVES peacocks

    lol

  • They do make killer gifts. I suggest a Swan, its relatively small compared to other modular designs (500 pieces). It took me 2 days to make a swan, not only do they come out beautiful but everyone loves them.

Tell me if you need any help of sorts, and I'll be happy to provide you links and such.

    Thanks!

  • sweet deal man...thanks i would apperciate the help, i know the perfect girl to give it to, i had made her 2 swans in ceramics, yep they formed a heart when put together, but making it out of post it notes thats cool

    i'd apperciate the help, thanks

  • i have one thats a swan

  • Sweet, I made a swan for someone (the 500 piece modular), and I didn't really make one to keep for myself. I made the white and black peacock you see in the last portion of the video as my own personal triumph, so to speak. That one, I'm not giving out, although people have tried stealing it, buying it, and begging me for it. lol.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • i cant finish it its too small its like 10 times smaller and i keep sweating my hands of.....some people use playing cards to make those too like my aunt.....i just cant get to do it the paper keeps on getting wet and i'm like I GIVE UPP!!!!...oh well c ya

  • The fold that you show at 0:33, is that half of the post-it note (before the fold shown).

  • Yes, I cut the post-note in half in order to make the necessary rectangle to make the modular piece.

    Hope that clarifies it.

    -Rohail

  • that would take a year

  • Hey this is cool - u should enter the post-it contest...check it out

  • wow nice work! well i too love origami and especially this type of origami. I have been making these models for years. it is very beautiful, yet (i hope i dnt offend you) it seems to slope, always make sure you even everything out so that it does not slope to the side, and make sure you always have alot of time, other than that EXCELENT!

  • If only I had more time, I would've inserted slides explaining what I was doing so it didn't seem to drag. But I think the overly-dramatic music helped a lot in this vid.

  • The pattern on the post-it peacock...yea, I did. I was running late on time and didn't finish the peacock, so it looks like a rather simple design...It still had a good 4 more rows. =\

  • ok hears a tip...(im not saying this vid is bad, its awsome )but when you see a real good vid in a contest that could win then you dont say anything like its too long. that way you have a better chance of winning.

  • O____________O omg, I've never thought of that before. You make that pattern and everything?

  • Yeap, and the colors =P

  • How long did it take to design?

  • Took me 3-4 days to fold all the pieces, two hours to come with a pattern for the back and the front, 4 hours to assemble, and 45 minutes to make the video.

    Thanks for the comment!

  • WOW. That was amazing.

I was so not expecting that black and white one to just pop up out of nowhere!!!

So are ya gonna win? =D

  • Freaking awesome.. I love you Ro!!!!!!!!
