my mom is obsessed with peacocks. i think if i start now, ill have this done by the time its her birthday next year. her bday is 7/13/11, and today is 8/1/11.
I don't like using glue on origami either, but, every time I make a swan or something out of these pieces, it falls apart (because I mess with it, or my cats get it, which is my own fault I know but still) Is it possible to just take spray adhesive and spray it over the finished object, and then like, craft preservative (like what you spray on charcoal drawings to keep them from smudging after finished) to get rid of the stickiness?
I realize this was two years ago but you should've included all of the steps or you should at least explain any cuts you make and explain your folds. Nice job.
@shmmaj ok ummm when i search that up on utube.... i get different results. this version sounds way faster and louder... if you could maybe put it on a website so i could download this one. thanks.
i can see that you like prisonbreak so you must be a prison break fans so i'm love prison break and where are you from it sad that prison break is not coming back in time soon but watch again and again it feel i wish that they have more prison break sseason then 4 of them fans prison break
The song is "Lux Aterna", there is a similar version titled "Requiem for a Dream" by Clint Marshall which was the theme song for the move Requiem for a Dream. There are plenty of versions around on YouTube.
Thanks for the comment, and I hope your model turns out really good =]
Same exact way, just fold the sticky strip inside the paper when you are folding the rectangle. It gets it out of the way, and you pretty much normal paper to work it.
What song is this? I want it!! anybody know??? i remember in it in some commercial, maybe an army or navy commercial, i cant remember... but any way nice job with that peacock, thats pretty sweet
Yea, the bottom fits right in the palm of your hand. Just make sure not to grab too tightly or the whole structure may collapse. And obviously, keep it away from water.
Yes it most def. is, the swan requires half the pieces than the peacock and there isn't the issue of imbalance. Because the peacock has most its pieces stacked on one side (the tail "feathers") there is a major chance its going to tip over and fall if you don't construct it right. Where as the swan, the wings are balance each other out on each side.
Um, no but my mom loves to make swans!!!!! She is gonna learn how to make an origami dragon!!!!!!! But I did learn how to make a swan, but I didn't make one yet. PLEASE REPLY!!!!!
I MIGHT post a vid of the origami dragon if I figure out how, but it's VERY complicated. The head and the legs of the dragon are very complicated so I don't know if it will be a tutorial video. Keep in touch.
I wasn't really into the dragon but wasn't there an instruction paper in korean or something like that with the diagrams of how to construct the dragon??? By the it looks very nice in gold. Please reply!!!!!!!!!!
I've tried to replying to you but something is wrong with my account. Anyways, the orgami dragon my mom made came with instructions but it's in Korean or something so my mom looked at the picture.
once you fold the modular pieces, theres going to be a double "pocket" in the back to put in other modular pieces. You begin with a set of 3 (2 in the back, and their "legs" are inserted into the pocket of the 3rd one). You keep putting them together like this until you have 30 base pieces, you join them together and you have a ring of base 30 pieces and a second layer of 15 pieces. You complete the second layer by inserting the legs of the base pairs into the pocket of the modular.
The chest of the peacock is slightly tilted, which caused the neck to be tilted as well. Sloppy origami, I know, but I shoved the bottom feathers into place and everything turned out as planned.
err, interesting comment 0.o It was for a contest, so it provided A LOT of motivation needed to stay up for 4 days. Trust me, I would've rather been playing tennis than be locked inside folding pieces over and over again. But I loved the outcome, so all the sleep deprived nights and crammed fingers actually seemed kind of fun.
wow that is absolutely amazing could you send me the link on how to make the swan? i would love to try it, this video inspired me to g oby post its and try this out.
They do make killer gifts. I suggest a Swan, its relatively small compared to other modular designs (500 pieces). It took me 2 days to make a swan, not only do they come out beautiful but everyone loves them.
Tell me if you need any help of sorts, and I'll be happy to provide you links and such.
sweet deal man...thanks i would apperciate the help, i know the perfect girl to give it to, i had made her 2 swans in ceramics, yep they formed a heart when put together, but making it out of post it notes thats cool
Sweet, I made a swan for someone (the 500 piece modular), and I didn't really make one to keep for myself. I made the white and black peacock you see in the last portion of the video as my own personal triumph, so to speak. That one, I'm not giving out, although people have tried stealing it, buying it, and begging me for it. lol.
i cant finish it its too small its like 10 times smaller and i keep sweating my hands of.....some people use playing cards to make those too like my aunt.....i just cant get to do it the paper keeps on getting wet and i'm like I GIVE UPP!!!!...oh well c ya
wow nice work! well i too love origami and especially this type of origami. I have been making these models for years. it is very beautiful, yet (i hope i dnt offend you) it seems to slope, always make sure you even everything out so that it does not slope to the side, and make sure you always have alot of time, other than that EXCELENT!

The pattern on the post-it peacock...yea, I did. I was running late on time and didn't finish the peacock, so it looks like a rather simple design...It still had a good 4 more rows. =\
ok hears a tip...(im not saying this vid is bad, its awsome )but when you see a real good vid in a contest that could win then you dont say anything like its too long. that way you have a better chance of winning.
Took me 3-4 days to fold all the pieces, two hours to come with a pattern for the back and the front, 4 hours to assemble, and 45 minutes to make the video.
