  • God dam Chigs

  • I'm so pissed that they canceled that show! So much potential ... wasted, gone ... grrrr

  • LOL needless to say I agree with you. At least it is on DVD nowadays.

  • by the way, my screen name is based on two WWII era legends, one is fictional, the other quite real

    can anybody guess?

    OORAH!

  • Nooo that's a direct take from the old war movie "Twelve O'Clock High".

  • Is this show still making episodes?

  • Nope, been off the air since 1995. It pulled a lot from WWII even though it was about a war with aliens about 50 years from now.

  • that jerk is an agitator ma'am, pay no attention to him :)

  • thats a great show, u really should watch it.. one of the best sci fi shows ever made)

  • indeed! from a time when patriotism was true and meaningful, not a placebo terror fighting instrument.

  • Wow. Great video. The song really fits, it has a really melancholy feel to it, which is how I feel about SAAB. I loved it, but I'm sad it was so short. Another example of Fox cancelling a great show. (ehem, Firefly!) Thanks for the great vid!

  • I'm glad you liked it. I grew up listening to my mom and grandmom's records from WWII. The song seemed to fit.

It was meant to be for all the Wild Cards, but I'm a McQ girl and it ended up being a bit more about him than planned.

  • Completely understandable! I love McQ too!

  • lattelady, i have to say these videos are awesome, happy to see someone else as addicted to this show :) Thank you!

  • Excellent Video

  • Thanks! It was one of my favorite shows. I thought the song from WWII worked well with the spirit of it.

  • Jim Morrison, who played Col.McQeen, was excellent in this role. He sort of disappeared after this show was cancelled and just showed up on a few shows as a guest role.

I could not figure out why.

  • Sorry for the spelling (McQueen)..is what I meant

  • I know what you mean...I understand he's in the show '24' now, though.

  • God, I miss this show. I'm glad it is out on DVD, but I did record all them during the run.

  • I miss it too. That's why I did the vids.

  • I only just discovered Vera Lynn recently and I enjoy her sweet lovely voice. The video is great, too. But..please pardon my ignorance...what is a SAAB?

  • I'm glad you liked the video. SAAB stands for Space Above and Beyond. It was a sci-fi show in the '90's. There are marines and a battle is being fought between Earth and a group of aliens. It is really better than I made it sound.

  • jnkyaw@gmail.com. thnx

  • It's on its way. It may take a few minutes to download.

    Enjoy

  • thnx for the info. I've found many different version of Coming in on a wing but I like this one in your video the best. Any chance u can send it to me as mp3 file ? :-D

  • I'd be glad to. It shouldn't be a problem if you have broadband. My sisters and I exchange music like that all the time. Send me your email address in a message and I'll get it off to you.

  • Good song. Where can I buy this sound track CD from?

    thanks

  • "Coming In On A Wing And A Prayer" is an old song from WWII. This version is sung by Vera Lynn. Any of the good CD stores that have '40's music will have it. I can't remember if I got mine at Virgin records or Amazon. I know a lot of Vera Lynn's work is on CD. I bought a number of them for my mom before she died.

I always associated music from WWII with SAAB. Not sure why, but for me it fit.

  • S:AAB is heavily based on WWII.

That's probably why, if you have read enough history or watched enough war movies you probably saw the references, at least on a subconcious level.

  • I'm laughing at what I wrote about WWII songs. I'm not sure how I forgot all the references to that war in the show. I remember thinking at the time that it was a shame the sound track didn't use an occasional big band song. Thanks for reminding me.

  • hehe I was a sort of Marine hehe 88th Naval Infantry Air Regiment in Russia,we trained with American USMC in Hawaii

  • ohhh,yeah...I used to throw a fit when I missed a episode...just wish I tapped it on VCR when it was going:(

  • I've always had a soft spot for Marines, and have dated more than one. The show finally came out on DVD sometine in the last year.

  • nice video

  • Thanks, this was one of my first vids and I was a huge fan back in the say, still am. It's nice to know there are other SAABers out there.
